"The people are the government"...not by a long shot

Not understanding the mechanics of american civics hurts the goal of well meaning people. I think those on the left and the right don't comprehend the depth of the misinformation they have been exposed to.

"The people are the government." or "We are the government"
Nope. the government is the government. society is society. government is separate and distinct from society.

Government is a militant entity that occupies society in order to control and extract society's wealth.

Governments collaborate and compete with each other for the resources of this planet and they consider societies to be a resource.

To the government, society is a tax farm and they are able to dispose of each individual as they see fit.
Ownership is defined as having the ultimate decision over the disposition of something.
Governments exercise that control via the massive army of people they employ to bend the individual to their will.

The individual will do what they say, when they say it, and they will take what they want, when they want it.

Disobey their will, and they will punish you; resist the punishment and they will end you. They will demonstrate that they control the disposition of the individual...that they own you.

So no, "we are not the government". The government claims to own us, and for all intents and purposes...it does.

Let's learn how this machine works so we can start crafting our own. One that achieves rightful individual liberty in OUR lifetime.

Identifying the problem is the first step.

Too many people with lack of knowledge, intellect, and/or

morals. This is why we never will restore freedom at the voting booths.

Years ago I would buy nice old buildings in a poor neighborhood with the view to renovating and reselling them. I had several and while I was finishing one, I would keep the others rented. One of my tenants was a delightful 60 year old lady who worked in a shrimp processing plant (for unreported cash) to supplement her welfare , and with her other time she sat around with other old ladies smoking marijuana and playing poker for cash.

One day she gave me some frozen shrimp and when I asked her how she got them, she told me she stole them from her work. Another time I noticed she had a close pin clamped on her air conditioner cord and when I asked her why, she told me to slow down the flow of electricity to save on her electric bill.

Like I said, lack of knowledge, intellect, and/or morals, and she proudly voted for the Democrat who promised her more loot.

Those at the top have control of the apparatus, and those at the bottom are unwitting accomplices in their own enslavement. As for those in the middle, they are divided, and many are deluded, both believing the other side is the problem.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

I agree with everything except "crafting our own." I suppose you mean to design a "better" government. IMO, I don't think it can be done.

As soon as group of people is given the power to rule over the rest, they immediately begin serving their own interests using their newfound power.

I feel where your coming

The American Experiment is a

The American Experiment is a government of the people.
That is what makes us different from all other nations.

of course over the years our representatives have become corrupt, just as our founders warned us they would.

I believe we should use todays communication technology to construct a parallel government.
same design just closer to the will of the people.

cut the legs off the lobbyists.

What type of government would our founders have constructed after the declaration if they had todays communication abilities?

mostly correct

without getting into a minarchist vs. anarchist debate...

I would disagree with one thing though. Our government doesn't "claim to own us" and in fact claims the opposite. However, it and most citizens act as if it DOES own us.

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."-- Albert Einstein

good catch

I meant to write,"claim the power to own us"
You are correct, they claim the opposite.
