Can you have Marxism without Atheism?

I think Dr. Lennox touches on the subject well. In this quick interview.

Actually....

No, it hasn't been tried. The Communists are the closest, but not actually Marxist.

And, you didn't answer the question. The failure of the USSR had nothing to do with atheism or even Marxism. The Communist system failed for many reasons, one being military adventurism.

I think it is much easier to get people to accept, let's say...fascism like we have in the USA, if they are already receptive to group-think and "leaders".

You lost me

"The failure of the USSR had nothing to do with atheism or even Marxism."

So do you believe central planning had nothing to do with it either?
It only took 60million people dying before it fell maybe the labor wasn't there to keep up with their supply and demand?

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect" - Mark Twain

True, Marx didn't expect true

True, Marx didn't expect true communism to eventuate for centuries.

Of course the problem is that he predicted socialism would lead to communism.. the evaporation of the state, which is of course absurd.

But it has been tried, mostly in early Colonial America. The Shakers, Oneida's, the original Jamestown and Plymouth Colonies, even. The early Colonies were a hotbed of utopian technocrats.

Sadly you are right, the US fascist state, really global fascism, is accepted largely because it has relatively better distribution of resources compared to fully socialist states.

The fact that there is another option is of course never allowed to be discussed.

Marxism is a religion.

You cannot have atheism with marxism because marxism becomes a religion and the head of the state becomes the God.
Look at the communist countries in the world, even the Japanese empire, the leaders are Gods and the "revolution" and the "state" are the religion. Atheism is the rejection of God and religion.
