Twitter Shuts Down ‘Truckers for the Constitution’

"Twitter has suspended the account belonging to ‘Truckers for the Constitution’, a group that has received national media attention over its plan to roadblock traffic in DC and arrest members of Congress later this week."...

"Within hours of the group’s planned protest appearing in U.S. News & World Report and being linked up on the Drudge Report, the account was terminated.

So Truckers for the Constitution’s account gets pounced upon within 5 hours, yet Al-Qaeda gets ignored for 5 days.

Is it really any wonder that Twitter is hemorrhaging money, while Facebook is losing millions of users when this is how they treat the First Amendment?"

URGENT WARNING FOR TRUCKERS AND THOSE HEADED TO WASHINTON

This is an URGENT WARNING, penned by Dinah Everett Snyder, containing important information that ALL THOSE headed to Washington this weekend NEED TO KNOW IN ORDER TO PROTECT YOURSELVES! You can listen to Dinah's archives Mon Oct 7 and Tues Oct 8.

HERE IS WHAT YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO KNOW:
You are headed to a "City State" called Washington DC. This is NOT "IN" AMERICA and DOES NOT "REPRESENT" AMERICA and is NOT "ON" AMERICAN LAND. It is an INDEPENDENT NATION which is a "DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA". This tiny piece of land is a SMALL TOWN size and NOT a STATE OF AMERICA. It operates under ROMAN LAW, where the entire concept originated and is SOVEREIGN and because of that, it operates AUTONOMOUSLY under the laws that lean to its own benefit in every single possible way! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City-state

Also consider another warning from Susanne Posel here.
Dr. Lynn Sereda is my guest this afternoon and we'll be talking about this, as well as how we can change our thinking, open our hearts, and connect more to the Great Mystery of Life, when WE think for OURSELVES!
PLEASE SHARE WIDELY AND TUNE INTO THE UNITED WE STRIKE MARATHON THIS SATURDAY!!!
POWER TO THE PEOPLE THROUGH PEACEFUL UNITY!
DON'T BUY, DON'T COMPLY. ASK WHY!!!!!

If I were the suspicious type

I'd think that someone TOLD Twitter to shut down the account. I'm keeping that in the back of my mind for a few years from now, when Twitter is dead, and a whistleblower tells us the obvious: TPTB selectively shut down Twitter accounts for the same reason as the IRS slow-walked 501C applications from tea party groups.

If the government can monitor all of our communications, is it really such a stretch to think that they can also interrupt them?

Why in the world would Twitter close the account otherwise

What in their terms of service would justify the closure? Not racist, not violent, not criminal. This is a seemingly arbitrary act. I agree it was directed from their "partner" the good old US govt.

Take back the GOP and Restore America Now.

Stop Tweetin'

Twitter is a private business

Don't expect them to be complicit in any revolution. Free speech can happen on Twitter, but they're under no obligation to allow it.

The moral of the story is: if you're planning something the government isn't going to like, have a back up plan for communication.

Yep, but?

We don't have to support them and let them spam us with adds either. Boycotting is THE ONLY tool we have left as a people in this country.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

10-4

Roger that.

But they're filing for IPO

But they're filing for IPO soon! And my MSM economics blogger said it was a good buy!

Southern Agrarian

Invent Rettiwt, Twitter spelled backward

So make another one.

The problem with making a

The problem with making a competitor is that there is no money to be made in this free service. Last year they lost $79 million on revenue of $317 million. Some people have been saying they may never make a profit, but they get "eyeballs", so they are more likely a good acquisition target for a larger company. Maybe Amazon or Microsoft or Google.

I'm thinking this is because...

They are to greedy at the corporate level. I'll bet they are paying out incredible inflated salaries and bonuses to themselves and the taxpayer is covering this in the form of a write off.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

A write-off is still a loss

A write-off is still a loss and as a private company they can choose to pay their executives whatever they want, even if it were to bankrupt the company. I have no issues with any of those things so long as I don't pay for their losses. Right now it's their investors who are taking it on the chin.

The point was

I'll bet if they managed their money better it would not have been a loss and maybe even profitable. I was referring to your original statement about it being unaffordable to make a site like Twitter. I think a little common sense economics in operations would indeed make it profitable. I wouldn't put it on the stock market at all. No need if handled right.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

OK so when you try to quit Twitter...

OK so when you try to quit Twitter it asks you " Are you sure? is this goodbye? Did we say something wrong? please let us know." and provides a contact link to explain the problem. So I did, I explained that I am closing my account because of Twitters biased political censorship agenda concerning the "Truckers for the Constitution" account. I will discourage all sponsorship support and membership to Twitter from now forward. I predict Twitter to go the way of facebook for the very same reasons.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

I believe you are right. Over

I believe you are right. Over time, simpler and more effective tools are eventually developed. Twitter is the latest Facebook, but even Facebook was merely a replacement for MySpace, which displaced AOL!

I'm trying to build one

I'm trying to build one right now. An encrypted Twitter with some damned integrity.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Guess it's back to using

Guess it's back to using Meetups for them.

But seriously, Twitter has become rather fascistic in their policy recently. I got banned for responding to people in a "direct" fashion.

Apparently if you get too many "Block" requests against you, you are automatically banned.

Twitter is a great tool if you can keep your temper in check. :)

Twitter can shut down member

Twitter can shut down member accounts all they want.

The genie is already out of the bottle.

I hope all of those truckers are heavily armed, and very well coordinated.

Wouldn't be surprised if the government tries to wipe out all forms of electronic communication in the DC area come Friday, cb radios included.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

OK that's it

On my way to close my Twitter account, But not after raising some hell.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

The truckers are right about one thing.

They will never move to impeach or hold their own accountable.
