Obama Trendies Want Mandatory Helmets For Walking

Should the government enforce the mandatory use of helmets while walking? 14 out of 20 people we asked at the University of Texas supported the draconian measure, emphasizing once again how the majority of the general public will accept almost any nanny state measure no matter how ludicrous.

The petition was entitled "Compelled Helmet Use for Misfortunate Public' (CHUMP), and called for the City of Austin to enforce mandatory helmet usage for all citizens in addition to the creation of special walking lanes where people could walk obliviously while texting on their cellphones.

Most of the individuals who signed the petition had it explained to them very clearly. Some signed straight away, while others took a little convincing but happily put pen to paper.

One woman was told that the petition was to "get people to wear helmets while they're walking," to which she responded "oh perfect, yeah, that's great," and immediately signed the petition.

When another man indicated his willingness to sign the petition, a woman responded, "You wanna make everybody wear helmets?," to which he responded, "these dummies need to wear helmets."

"It will help keep insurance costs down," another woman is told as she signs the petition.

"We have socialized healthcare now, so everyone's responsible for everyone," another couple were told.

After being told that schools are now banning dodgeball and other contact sports, another woman agreed to sign, remarking that enforcing helmet use, "Makes sense technically."

First they will ban your God given rights. Now the Sheeple want to make you wear a helmet while you walk --- All for your safety.

Problem with street petitions is that

the opposing argument is not often heard. Critical thinking requires ALL available information to be considered.

How many would sign the petition if they had an opportunity to hear how effing stupid forcing 'free' people to wear helmets is when Nature, or Nature's God as some prefer, gave us Skulls.

Life is not Fragile, it is the undeveloped mind that is fragile.

This is exactly why I do not give up my individual freedoms to

Any so called democratic elected group. The sheeple will sign anything and go along with anything. Just like in nature fear drives movement.

They use fear to move people.

The same thing happened on my block with speed humps. The petition went around under the guise of playing children can be hurt so lets slow traffic with speed humps. I sayd the road is for driving with the humps they destroy the car and make travel slow and difficult. Hardly no children on the street and they should not play in the street.

Yet most all the people signed except me, including my wife. The guy that was so fixated upon slowing traffic didnt have children or care he was just a crank, who has died. Now stuck with humps for the rest of the time I reside here.

Hate mob/group rule. A bunch of cowards get togeather to gain the courage to become bullies then go around thugging any and everyone who is not part of their coward gang.

sovereign

Perfect example why Gov't should be Extremely Limited

CHUMP's are willing to sign just about any right away.

Wonder how many people would sign a petition requiring everyone to take care of themselves and when they couldn't rely on Charity.

These petition signing videos don't show anything about society

The Infowars crew acts like it is some indictment on society that people would sign some petition. It does not. People sign the paper to avoid a confrontation and to get the person in front of them out of their way. It doesn't mean that they actually believe what they are signing, because there is zero commitment to signing a piece of paper. A better reflection of society would be the number of people who would donate money to such a cause, even $1, or the number of people who would show up to a meeting, protest, or rally in support of a cause.

This type of video has been done a lot by Mark Dice, so Infowars is not very innovative here. The result is predictable and boring. It doesn't tell us anything about the true feelings of the people.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

"Trendy"

I don't think this is

I don't think this is inherently American though. You could do the same thing in Japan and get the same results. Young people everywhere are mindless, self-centered, and clueless.

One thing I noticed though when I went back to the US this past summer is that many Americans are non-confrontational almost to the point of being completely paranoid. I was struck by how many people are very standoffish even if you're standing in front of them with a smile and open handed. I thought this was very strange and very unAmerican.

Why do you think? I was wondering if it was because of so many mass shootings....

I say

Lets vote for Rand Paul, that will change things, new warden and all.

I would say that half-of-them

I would say that half-of-them would've realized that theysurvey/petition was a joke and would've participated in the trolling. But still even 7 of 20 accepting that pedestrians use helmets is ridiculous.
