I've had dogs all my life

and I've had to leave one or another in my car or truck under reasonable conditions (to go into a store etc) hundreds of times. Never once came back and found one dead or heat-stressed. Like with most things you have to use common sense.

To say that it's animal abuse in every situation is just pc stupid

I've been busting balls down below but

seriously...
I think it's important to just see the underlying dynamics here - not who's right or wrong about the dog.
Because if we get to jump street with martial law etc. we have to understand that cops/soldiers like these are not very deep thinkers. And since they out gun us it would be wise to understand how to dis-arm the bomb so to speak.
Both parties are stuck on being right. And if the soldier/cops have orders the people will be eliminated in a situation like this.

The dog owner is a d*ck

The cops were trying to help the dog... why be a d*ck to them? Maybe it was bad judgement for them, but hell, give them a break.
That dog-owner was looking to start a fight.
Sorry guys. Pick your freaking battles!

we're from the government and we're here to help

we all know how the police love dogs....

Cops suck, it's a gang!

And it's not illegal to call a cop an asshole. You can't say, "watch your back, asshole", that's a threat.

I call my Chief of Police in my town fuckface when he's harassing me. I German salute him at town hall meetings. I stand with my back towards him whenever he speaks. This is free speech!

Lawsuit for illegal arrest, $10,000 a day for every day he was illegally jailed, 1 hour = 1 day!

You don't leave dogs in cars unattended. It's like leaving a three year old ya dumb f-u-c--k!

According to several behavioral measures, Coren says dogs' mental abilities are close to a human child age 2 to 2.5 years.

The intelligence of various types of dogs does differ and the dog's breed determines some of these differences, Coren says. "There are three types of dog intelligence: instinctive (what the dog is bred to do), adaptive (how well the dog learns from its environment to solve problems) and working and obedience (the equivalent of 'school learning')."

Data from 208 dog obedience judges from the United States and Canada showed the differences in working and obedience intelligence of dog breeds, according to Coren. "Border collies are number one; poodles are second, followed by German shepherds. Fourth on the list is golden retrievers; fifth, dobermans; sixth, Shetland sheepdogs; and finally, Labrador retrievers," said Coren.

ah

so people don't leave their children strapped in a car seat while they run into a carry out because their children will harm themselves or die sitting there, buckled up. It's not because they could be stolen. i see... i always figured it was because their child could be easily stolen right out of the car.

it was 64 degrees with the windows cracked well enough. the dog was not acting so immature that it would cause harm to itself unattended in there. it was laying down waiting patiently for their return. the same as the other dog in the truck. worst case is that it could have been stolen. that is a risk the owner takes with anything they possess.

do you own dogs? if so do you ever leave them home alone?

I own a dog and the only time I leave her in the car is at night -- late at night like after midnight when I go to the 24 hr grocer. And I only do it because she likes it.

Otherwise my wife and I both go so one of us can stay in the car with her.

Thing is you don't know what's going to happen
Child fatally struck by car near SE Houston school

By MIKE GLENN
Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle
A small child died instantly when he was struck by a car Tuesday after darting into traffic at a private school in southeast Houston, police said.
The mother of William Wolf, 2, parked her Jeep Cherokee in front of Queen of Peace Catholic School about 3:30 p.m. then walked across the 2300 block of Oakcliff to speak with another waiting parent.
"The child got out of the car and ran across the street to where his mother was," said Houston police Sgt. W.R. Cumbess.
The driver of a Ford Expedition — another parent of a student at the parochial school — apparently didn't see William running after his mother. He was struck and died, police said.
"It looks like it's just going to be a tragic accident," Cumbess said.
Nearby resident Pat Morales said William's mother hovered over her son's body after he was struck.

Ok...

look, i understand YOUR concern, that is why YOU take precautions for YOUR worries and YOUR property. That guy obviously is "risky" and played the deadly odds of HIS dog opening the car door and squeezing out the cracked windows and getting hit by a vehicle...

It wasn't cruelty, it wasn't endangerment or neglect.

People's dogs around here ride in the back of their pickup trucks... that is THEIR choice, they know THEIR dog and it's a risk THEY are willing to take. as sad as it would be for the dog to get injured or worse, it's not up to you to make judgement calls for other people's lives, liberty, property, speech or pursuit of happiness, etc...

Back in the 70's I worked at a private school

It was an alternative school for boys who failed in other schools. Staff members could have a dog on campus.
We had a farm where kids got to learn about food production and all types of outdoor programs.

I remember this one teacher who was new to the school. Rick was a big tall blonde haired guy with a physique like a body builder. I used to call him Paul Bunyan. He had the most beautiful red Irish Setter named Sean. But Rick didn't have a lot of experience with animals.
One day when I went out to the dairy barn I saw the most ghastly site (I was 20 years old). Rick had tied his setter to the fence next to the pig pen. The dog apparently tried to jump through or over the fence and hung himself. That was 42 years ago and I still get the chills thinking about it - I can remember every detail of what I saw - it's burned in my brain.
Rick was devastated. He said he wanted the dog to get fresh air while he was in the classroom teaching.

I still get sick when I see that beautiful dog hanging there lifeless. So I'm always hard on people who don't think things through regarding animals and their safety.

I've done all the stupid stuff like riding the dog in the back of the pick-up etc.

Escondido PD AssClowns HARASS CAMERAMAN

These 2 EPDs get caught on film, doing everything that they shouldn't be doing. But to get the State Attorney General, the District Attorney or the US Attorneys Offices to do anything about abusive ass COPS like these to, is impossible.
