(Reuters) - Flamboyant billionaire Mark Cuban on Wednesday was cleared by a Texas jury of using a private tip to avoid a big loss on his 2004 sale of Internet company shares, in a stinging rebuke for the U.S. government which had accused him of insider trading.
Cuban, 55, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, lashed out at the U.S. government and lead prosecutor Jan Folena after the verdict, saying the government had tried to bully him.

"Jan Folena, who represents the United States of America, stood up there and lied," an angry Cuban told reporters after the nine-member jury read its decision.
"It's personal. You take all these years of my life, it's personal," Cuban said.

Jury Rules for Mark Cuban in Setback for S.E.C.
The government mocked Mark Cuban as a winner in “his mind,” claiming that the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team possessed a “competitive edge” that drove him to insider trading.

But a jury cleared him of wrongdoing on Wednesday, making Mr. Cuban a winner in the civil case and delivering a blow to the federal agency that he battled tooth and nail for five years.

Good news

But he's not a libertarian by any stretch.

Finally a Good guy wins!

That's why a jury by your peers is so important. But, we all know what the NDAA does to individuals.

gradually phase out the SEC...

.

what did he say? what blast?

Great reporting. Typical hit piece.

I'm sorry

I've seen Mark in several interviews defiantly saying he was out to clear his name. And he spoke boldly against the SEC.

I just didn't have the time when I posted to pull it all together.

Do you have the time now?

I know he made some well deserve comments about the SEC on many occasions. But what has he said recently word for word?
Nobody seems to know.
Sounds like BS to me.
More spin to frame an innocent anti-NWO businessman.

The TV clips don't seem to be available. He was on CNBC, and Leno when I saw him just before this last trial.
He said they had no case and that he would easily win.
I just didn't transcribe every word.
I usually am doing other things when I have TV on. So I wasn't paying close attention.

But I know he was pissed at them and even spent time and money suing the SEC.
That's what I gleaned, maybe I didn't interpret him correctly. Doesn't matter to me.

Being PO'd is one thing, who isn't sometimes

But saying someone BLASTS or goes off on something is another.
The quote you posted is just more spin.
I am sure he isn't happy with the realization he will need to continue to defend himself, because those bastards don't give up.

"BLASTS" is Reuter's word not mine

Just because he didn't lob a grenade or mortar at the SEC doesn't mean he didn't use strong language.

WE'RE DONE HERE.

Trial by Jury

"The primary function of the independent juror is not, as many think,
to dispense punishment to fellow citizens accused of breaking various laws, but rather to protect fellow citizens from the tyrannical abuses of power by government."

The Constitution guarantees you the right to trial by jury. This means that government must bring its case before a jury of The People if government wants to deprive any person of life, liberty, or property."

Jurors can say no to government tyranny by refusing to convict."

I read elsewhere that these

I read elsewhere that these charges were brought immediately after Cuban offered to finance the DVD distribution of Loose Change Final Cut.

That's old news...

O'Reilly and the rest of his

O'Reilly and the rest of his ilk in MSM are all about government lie maintenance. Thank God they don't have an audience anymore.

Today's verdict isn't old news

The case was just decided today

Errr... O'Reilly makes me grit my teeth. He's a RINO if there ever was one but, unfortunately, my eighty year old neighbor thinks he's wonderful and she also believes Obama is the anti-Christ.

Bingo

Rumor mill in the Big D has him being threatened with much more.

He's got 2.5 Billion to bring to the battle, and he doesn't seem to be one that will back down.

Next time.

They'll seize his assets, his computers, his house and his bank accounts like they did just before the government employees murdered Peter McWilliams.

Good for him ...

... now, if only we could get that FBI agent put in jail who committed perjury to get Martha Stewart convicted.

deacon's picture

But,wasn't she convicted

of lying after taking the oath not to?

Martha Stewart ...

... owned stock in a company. She met the CEO at a party and says they didn't really talk much about the company. Shortly after, she issued a sell stop order with her broker. The stock sold off to that level, and she was stopped out. It just so happened, that it was near the top, and the stock came crashing down after.

The order for the sell stop showed the price, which was written in a different color ink. An FBI agent testified on the stand that he was an ink analysis expert, that he had personally viewed the sell stop card, and concluded that the price was changed after the fact.

She said she did not change the price, and did not tell the broker to change the price. The government used the FBI agent's testimony as evidence that she lied about that, and was convicted of lying.

After she was convicted, the FBI agent admitted that he had never looked at the sell stop card at all.

She appealed based on this, but the appeals court threw her case out, without addressing the evidence of the corrupt FBI agent.

Didn't they both lie ?

Not sure

about MS,but I know one particular group that has it down
to an art form,I don't think i need to mention any names.
But I can :)

If I can ask you enough questions

I could convict you.

deacon's picture

possibly

and probable
I meant, they couldn't get her all the other
trumped up charges,so they went for one that would stick
to me,it is another case of bring enough charges (bogus or not)
and hope that one will do it
kinda like, look at all them charges,he/she must be guilty of something
This tactic played out with some friends of mine here recently, but didn't go so well for the feds, they now have to pay for all the things that were not put into evidence, things, such as personal belongings, are now being sued
by my friends, had to find them all jobs, and one of them has been voted in as a sheriff in a small town,do you think he will play nice with them feds? :)

understood

Did battle with some county bullies a few years back.
