House stenographer: Holy Spirit moved me...brought to mental health hospital after rant

By JOSE DELREAL | 10/17/13 1:21 PM EDT

The House stenographer that took over a microphone and began shouting in the House chamber Wednesday night told a Fox News reporter that the Holy Spirit compelled her to do it.

“For the past 2 and 1/2 weeks, the Holy Spirit has been waking me up in the middle of the night and preparing me (through my reluctance and doubt) to deliver a message in the House Chamber,” stenographer Dianne Foster Reidy told Fox News’s Chad Pergram in a written statement. “That is what I did last night.”

Facebook posts examined:

"...Ms. Reidy’s Facebook page contained multiple religious postings, including one reference to "God’s Paratroopers.”

Fox News said Ms. Reidy is well-liked on Capitol Hill — hardly the radical partisan type — and her interruption caused several members to express concern for her mental health. The cable network also reported that Ms. Reidy was sent for a mental evaluation shortly after the incident..."

They will always use "mental

They will always use "mental health" to silence anyone they don't agree with. "her interruption caused several members to express concern for her mental health". Yeah, get used to it everyone. Many of you think it's funny because you disagree with what she had to say but get ready because they are going to say the same thing about you when you start "ranting" about liberty, justice, individual rights.... The buzzwords are already set aside. They will be applying them to us all. We better stop making fun of others when they are "silenced" because we don't agree with the points they are making...

Beware the cult of "government"...

Does anyone know

Where she is now? How is she doing?

All I found are articles from that day...

The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave.

- Calvin Coolidge

When someone says

When someone says that they were moved by the "Holy Spirit" it behooves all of us to listen. I personally don't think the message was so much about Obummercare...I believe it was to let "GOD'S PEOPLE" know that he's still on his throne in heaven and that he is and will be with us when the SHTF in America.
The message was for his remnant...NOT the athiests and unbelievers.
To those in the latter camp, remember "DON'T PISS OFF THE VOICES".

The audio/video sync is inaccurate

I want to know what she actually said on the House Floor. What we have heard is what she said in the hallway while being taken away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXlUxzSGu9Q

How is this woman saying "the

How is this woman saying "the holy spirit made me do it!" any different from Flip Wilson saying "the devil made me do it!"

No one made you do anything. Take some personal responsibility for your actions and stop blaming your imaginary friends.

A signature used to be here!

She will answer for her physical deeds here on earth.

But she isn't worried about that, nor should she be. All she did was speak words into a microphone, she didn't exactly murder anyone. And yes, the Holy Spirit can take control of you. She isn't "blaming" anything, she is explaining where the "outburst" came from. You are obviously not a believer, which is fine and dandy, but why the need to say things like "imaginary friends"? Does it hurt your feelings that there are people in this world who believe in God? Why can't you simply respect people for who they are? Did she somehow injure you or victimize you in some way? I love people who are on here to work on our freedom, yet have no respect for anyone who has different beliefs than them.

Biblical commentary and explanations from Anti theist don't really amount to much. In fact they amount to nothing at all, or less than nothing if possible. If what she said didn't mean anything to you, then the message obviously wasn't for you right? What she says does make a whole lot of sense to a bunch of people though, and that's what matters. I guess I'll never understand the thoughts of an Anti Theist. If you choose to not believe in God, then that is your choice, but why be so hateful towards people that do?

Anyone who is tuned in knows this woman is the real deal.

Yes. Believe it. She WAS moved by the HOLY SPIRIT.

Something is in the air. The amount of evil in the world is increasing. We are on the brink of social, economic, and moral collapse. At the core, we are in a battle of GOOD vs. EVIL, and you better figure out which side you are going to be on.

I was raised Catholic but always had many doubts and was basically agnostic. Over the last few years, though, I have been getting a sense that something big is happening. The Holy Spirit is sending messages. God is calling His people together and is speaking to those who have ears to hear.

You're absolutley right!

"I have been getting a sense that something big is happening. The Holy Spirit is sending messages. God is calling His people together and is speaking to those who have ears to hear."

I have recently heard God calling back into His arms and a group of believers at work has formed. It's amazing to see! Though the happenings of the evil ones in Washington is definitely worrisome, trust in the Lord and He will see us through!

"Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matt 28:20

"...God is calling His people together..."

If they heed the call and do His will this government would be face-down in the dirt overnight.

off all the

crazy $hit that's come out of that mic, Jesus warrants a psych evaluation?

Would you feel better about their actions if she was yelling 'Allah Akbar' instead of 'Praise Jesus'?

Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus.

As I was thinking about this woman's message to the US government and people this old American hymn came to mind. It seems quite appropriate:

1. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
ye soldiers of the cross;
lift high his royal banner,
it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
his army shall he lead,
till every foe is vanquished,
and Christ is Lord indeed.

2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the trumpet call obey;
forth to the mighty conflict,
in this his glorious day.
Ye that are brave now serve him
against unnumbered foes;
let courage rise with danger,
and strength to strength oppose.

3. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
stand in his strength alone;
the arm of flesh will fail you,
ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armor,
each piece put on with prayer;
where duty calls or danger,
be never wanting there.

4. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the strife will not be long;
this day the noise of battle,
the next the victor's song.
To those who vanquish evil
a crown of life shall be;
they with the King of Glory
shall reign eternally.

I would very much like to read an unedited unmediated transcription of exactly the words she spoke. The LORD is very economical in the messages He gives and they are packed with meaning.

There is a portion in the last article linked to in the OP that I found very prophetic:

“I said, ‘You know what, honey, this is like when you were pregnant and agonized…’ She was obedient to God and gave birth to His message.”

We are living in the day when the Manchild will be born so I believe this word from Mrs. Reidy's husband is telling us that He is at the door.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

This is the way it is going to be from now on

We Christians who follows our conviction and believe will be labeled as terrorists, extremists and one more....mentally ill. So if they can't shoot us, kill us or put us in prison, they would put us in asylums!

In fact, it is not the first time it ever happened to true Christians, it will not be the last time either!

Pray that she will be set free soon!

I've actually

read a number of academics arguing that religious belief should be considered a form of mental illness.

Now, to my knowledge, none have yet actually advocated locking up the religious, but the foundation is being laid by them whether they know it or not.

Yes, the Thought Police are really starting to gear up.

We are also seeing academics writing about "nonrational" behavior --in politics, economics, etc. They are using this idea as a weapon to brand any ideas that contradict their own agenda as "nonrational". Anything they don't like --like opposing Obamacare (their OWN example!) is "irrational" --which is a total LIE.

Freedom of Speech

= mental evaluation???

....nothing to be concerned about here lol

Good stuff

She's a believer and has a lot of supporters. Took matters into her own hands based on her convictions and voices from a spirit.

Very interesting that this women was suddenly driven to point. Even more interesting to see the acceptance and support on comments here on the DP.

I love the passion.

Just remember to be tolerant of debate and other points of view. To me this post is totally acceptable and is a very interesting topic.

My only question to those with up votes and supporting commentary is ( in all sincerity ) why is a post of this nature viewed as positive discussion ( by way of votes) and others that have opposing editorial or events considered negative and antagonistic?

It's a serious question. I'm not looking for a conflict here, I'm just perplexed by what appears to be a double standard.

Have an awesome Friday!

would you have any proof

to your version of truth?
or is it just a comment?
I'd like to see it

I'll be honest, it's just a fascinating story

I'm of two minds (Sorry, I know I can't serve two masters!) on this. On one level, this is just a bizarre story that is fascinating. Her words are fascinating and odd. Part of me just enjoys this because it is so outside of the box. Like those moments on Coast to Coast AM about bigfoot being a projection from a machine, built by ancient robots, underneath the planet Mars. I don't believe it for a second, but it's the most entertaining thing to hear while you drift off to sleep!

On another level, I'm a Christian and I agree with her that it is absurd to say that "we are a Christian nation." That's so false, as many of the founding fathers were not Christians from an orthodox (non-heretical) point of view. So, I can't help but be willing to contemplate what she said.

This thread is so typical in

This thread is so typical in representing how far the DP has gone off the rails.

Conspiracy fanatics attempting to rationalize an event that is ultimately meaningless. Spend your compute-cycles on something worth your time instead, folks. There are no "messages from space."

And after all that whining and complaing about the DP...

you STILL come here to comment.

Honestly: why?

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

That was a complaint about

That was a complaint about this thread and the spate of religious nonsense that drags down the intellectual level of discourse on the DP, not the DP itself.

A Time To Speak

There is a time to be silent, and a time to speak!

Praise the Lord that this woman spoke as she did, when she did, to whom she did!

This woman will be just fine because she is in His hand as are all who love Him and are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

She spoke to this Den of Thieves and reminded them what the Lord has said.

Many world-wide wonder, what will become of us when such and such happens, or this or that happens, but the big question to all is what will you do when the King of Kings comes in all His glory on that great day of judgment and you are still in all your sins?

There is still time to turn to Him for salvation if you humbly seek Him with all your heart and repent of your sinful ways.

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved"

Remember also those fearful words, "God will not be mocked for whatsoever a man soweth, that also shall he reap"

Time really is running out!

Peace everyone

" In Thee O Lord do I put my trust " ~ Psalm 31:1~

Sounds like she is a DP'er.

There is nothing controversial in what she said. It is true isn't it? I have read many similar and even more damning indictments of the US government and the US Constitution here on the DP. The reason she had to shout was because the microphone had been turned off. It was hardly a rant.

Reading the comments at the Politico website it appears that the US has become the USSR. They used to send their political dissidents into mental hospitals and to the gulags.

No doubt the same people would have been up in arms demanding free speech when Pussy Riot were taken into custody in Moscow because they were shouting horrible obscenities and blasphemies in a Russian Orthodox church.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

Ha. Those are not valid

Ha. Those are not valid comparisons. As I previously mentioned, she was probably sleep deprived or hungry anyway. Sending her off for psychiatric evaluation was probably excessive, but these are paranoid politicians we're talking about.
