Healthcare.gov caught using pirated software code

Healthcare.gov has just been exposed as being built with pirated software code.

Obama administration programmers actually stole software code from a UK company, then tried to cover their tracks by deleting author attributions and software copyright notices.

Will DHS now seize Healthcare.gov and shut it down for committing piracy?

Although not necessarily "pirated"...

They certainly are in violation of the License.

I had to see for myself, and yeah, it's true.

I searched on a comment from the author:

"This is a little bit odd I admit..."

And there it is.

This is almost unbelievable as to be a joke!

My god, this is about the worst thing I have ever heard. Not only does the site not work anyway, it was built using code from someone else. Can we please, please, please, send someone to jail for this?! Not only for the rediculous payoff someone got, but for breaking the law.

The one thing here though, is that now they will have to redo that from scratch. This basically means that there is no way the website will be ready in time.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Thats not really true

See my comment below.

Ah, I see. Figures,

Ah, I see. Figures, NaturalNews strikes again. Well, I dont think I have ever seen a completely nonbiased article from them. While MSM is towards gov etc, natural news is exactly opposite which is just as bad.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

Strange they would do that

Considering DataTables is free to use and distribute with the copyright and all that remaining intact.

Most likely this is caused more by inept developers than any sort of maliciousness. Its not like they ripped Spry off of anything other than credit.

It's rather more serious than that

Your use of "ripped off" is appropriate because absent compliance to license agreement, we have first of all, pure and simple theft.

We have the sale of the software in question. Another gross violation of the license as well as another instance of theft and or fraud.

We have a major breach of professional ethics (naked plagiarism).

We have a major insult to and breach of trust with the entire open-source community.

This is before any misrepresentations made by the vendor.

Better Inform IPR so they can

Better Inform IPR so they can take down the site as soon as possible. We as a nation can't have pirated copyrighted property circulating out there. ;)

The site asks for your name and phone number along with the reported website, but I imagine anything like 'Publius Veritas' and 555-555-4321 would be sufficient to get by. It's not like the government has a team of crack web programmers working for them to think of alternative values like that.

Anybody here ever heard of the term, "Government Work"

The software company quotes 100 million dollars, charges 600 million dollars for a system that doesn't work, using another companies pirated software! That my friends is "Government Work" LOL

the code was double-licensed, too!

What's funniest is that the code was double-licensed, both GPL (v2) and BSD.

The (non-L)GPL license would have forced them to GPL the rest of their code. But the BSD has no such restrictions - just the requirement that they leave the notice in to give credit and maintain copyright notification.

So there was no NEED to file off the serial numbers.

What idiots.

= = = =
"Obama’s Economists: ‘Stimulus’ Has Cost $278,000 per Job."

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

That may very well have been the problem

"So there was no NEED to file off the serial numbers." this may have disrupted the whole code and data base from the start. I have loaded scripts like this myself.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Lol

Lol

Well that explains it!

Apparently this is going to work just about as well as the UK system right from the start as you sign up!

SNAFU

A common term for government endeavors.

And the hits...

just keep on coming. What a disaster.

Wanna take down ObombaCare? Don't sign up! That is all we need to do for ObombaCare to go bust.

Yer on!

My response is "go screw". I'm not signing up, I'm not buying in and I'm not paying a penalty.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

Thats all we need to do

to stop any unconstitutionmal government programs. Everyone just refuse to comply!!!! If enough people say no then good luck finding a jury to convict those they try to make an example of.

Soon to be known as:

OWhatwhere? :-)

Exercise Liberty...by not signing up for oppression.

America Rising.
The Constitution Stands.

"That the pen is mightier than the sword would be proven false; if I should take my sword and cut off the hand that holds the pen" - American Nomad

.

It looks like the, "don't sign up" is working. Numbers are way down the expected 7 million. They are waking up, maybe just maybe.

That would be the easiest

That would be the easiest mass civil disobedience movement ever.

Just Say No!
