Ron Paul Cartoon (with other republicans) in The Politico

I saw this on the front page of the Politico. I thought you might like to see it.
I don't quite know how the artist is trying to portray Ron Paul. Positive? Negative? What do you think?
I do know this. When comedians and political cartoonist start to satirize a person, its because they know a large group of people will understand the reference. Basically its more mainstream.

Spaceman Spiff
...actually I think it might be a bit of an insult, or a small compliment. I loved Calvin and Hobbes, yet Spaceman Spiff (Calvin) is always daydreaming in class and fighting authority with made up "battles." Now, I like fighting authority, but since Calvin is typically a bit rash in acting, especially against teachers who are just trying to do their job, it might be a subtle jab that Ron is fighting "useless" cause when nothing is really wrong (Ha!). However, out of all the cartoons, Spiff is the best, or least derogatory, to me. But the fact that he's flying his spaceship that is "going down" bothers me a bit. Oh well..I don't think we should be reading --too-- much into this.
Ron Paul = Calvin + Hobbes
I think I remember Calvin daydreaming of being a spaceman flying down in a spaceship like that to save the world.
We have a Ron Paul Blimp...
Why not a Ron Paul spaceship. That is how I see it.
"Make fun buddy..." - Ron Paul
"Make fun buddy..." - Ron Paul
hmm
it appears that they're saying he's loony

Agreed
Though, that is how the media sees him and the comic couldn't favor one candidate over another. Outside of the media portrayal of Paul, there really isn't a good ribbing cartoon likeness for Paul. At least one most people would understand.
Trying to say....
....Ron Paul is ahead of his time?
I like that
interpretation. Its like he's flying down to save us.
:-)
Yeah !
Actually, what crossed my mind seeing this, is how utterly #%&ked the political cartoonists are going to be if Ron Paul is elected - nothing to make fun of.
