Now, I've Officially seen It All: Chris Nevitt, a Denver Democrat, wants to ban Smell & JAIL You for It! Yes, SMELL!

As if anyone here needed any further proof that govt's full of sociopathic lunatics and control-freak busybodies, here's just one more proof, that especially Dems, are bigger authoritarians than any GOP could ever be:

Denver Councilman Chris Nevitt urges use of drones

Denver City Councilman Chris Nevitt urges the city to investigate using drones instead of the police helicopter, which he says is more expensive and less efficient.

** But, obviously, seeing his anti-SMELL authoritarian lunatic instincts on full display, you know he's not promoting it to save money, or even for 'officer's safety' blah blah blah. Though, chopper pilots, as commendable as they are, and are absolutely necessary for fire, situation/pattern overview, rescue/medevac (though I'd prefer all this to be a private function, be that as it may, as far as need for such usage goes, there's no doubt they're necessary tasks), but from what I recall, it costs somewhere between $2600~7600 per flight (any pilots here, especially Bell chopper pilots can correct me): fuel, insurance, hanger cost, overtime etc. The city (for PR; the whole 'pilot' and 'chopper'-ace meme and recruitment tool purposes) and the police union will always love these jobs: higher pay than already usual. So, if they deny drone programs, they're not doing it from the bottom of their heart or because they're worried about protecting your privacy, obviously.

Denver councilman suggests replacing expensive police helicopter with “drones”

Denver City Councilman Chris Nevitt at this week’s Mayor Council meeting suggested the city look into starting an unmanned aerial vehicle program to replace the expensive police helicopter.

“I urge us to investigate using UAV technology instead of the helicopter because it would be a whole lot cheaper and would be more effective,” Nevitt said after a bill request was introduced to add $377,400 from the general fund for continued maintenance of the helicopter.

But a drone program is not happening anytime soon, said Lt. Matt Murray, police spokesman.

Seems Denver PD chief has been hearing from his constituency, somewhat; seems to have better PR sense, at least:

Denver Police Chief White says no police drones in near future for Denver skies

Denver Police Chief Robert White says he appreciates technological advances but told a City Council committee on Tuesday he won’t put police drones into Denver air space any time soon.

Denver Police Chief Robert White tells a Denver City Council committee that he is not in favor of using drones until some of the controversies can be resolved. (Helen H. Richardson, The Denver Post)

“We are not hesitant to be on the forefront of technology; however, as it realates to drones, there are some challenges there,” White said. “We are trying to better connect to the community. At this time (use of unmanned aerial vehicles) is controversial. The last thing we need to do is further divide us in the community. … The other thing is constitutionally there are a lot of unanswered questions about how they can be used.”

The issue was raised a few weeks ago when Councilman Chris Nevitt suggested the city should examine using UAVs, which he said are more efficient and cost-effective than the police helicopter.

** Certainly, like all technology, they're neutral and depends on the user, and definitely have legitimate non-surveillance, useful helpful deployment applications. But in hands of govt, and especially the one on this current post-9/11 DHS policestate trajectory? No F'ng Way, ya govt terrorist maggots! And, certainly, least of all, over CONUS!

Oh please!

This is just a fascists attempt to usurp the obvious will of the people. They always told me,"if you don't like the law, change it". And when we do, they still try to subvert it.
