Holy Cow! Obamacare fine not $95 ...

All I can say is OMG !!!

A post from the Obamacare website page.
"I actually made it through this morning at 8:00 A.M. I have a preexisting condition (Type 1 Diabetes) and my income base was 45K-55K annually I chose tier 2 "Silver Plan" and my monthly premiums came out to $597.00 with $13,988 yearly deductible!!! There is NO POSSIBLE way that I can afford this so I "opt-out" and chose to continue along with no insurance. I received an email tonight at 5:00 P.M. informing me that my fine would be $4,037 and could be attached to my yearly income tax return. Then you make it to the "REPERCUSSIONS PORTION" for "non-payment" of yearly fine. First, your drivers license will be suspended until paid, and if you go 24 consecutive months with "Non-Payment" and you happen to be a home owner, you will have a federal tax lien placed on your home. You can agree to give your bank information so that they can easy "Automatically withdraw" your "penalties" weekly, bi-weekly or monthly! This by no means is "Free" or even "Affordable"

... and people think I am crazy for not wanting to be part of this Death/Debt Paradigm

Unbelievable!!! Welcome to

Unbelievable!!! Welcome to the child support industry!! My daughter's father had two daughters in his first marriage & they divorced in 1989. He was paying child support and doing everything he was supposed to even though his ex-wife was one of those kinds who wanted to alienate him from his children (little could be done at that time too about that). This was before the small county court clerk's office went to computers for record-keeping. They messed up his records and he got a call saying he was in arrears. I went through every payment, cancelled check, legal document, etc. He was paying. When he asked how much they claimed he was behind so he could fix the problem, they told him "Never mind. We're going to start garnishing your wages." For years, the arrearage went up, they threatened to take away his driver's license, told him if he didn't pay up he'd be jailed, etc etc. The child support industry (which is exactly what it is. A money-making scheme to make a divorced parent into a criminal) is the blueprint for the repercussions of not getting Obamacare. This is a scheme to steal everyone's assets. They have no more pie to steal from other than the people. This is it. I hope it falls on it's face.

What you said is so true ...

What you said is so true ... child support industry "A money-making scheme to make a divorced parent into a criminal is the blueprint for the repercussions of not getting Obamacare".

Same boat if that helps you at all - the stories are unbelievable for those that never had to deal with it. Some articles:

Currently the interest rate on child support in CA is a whopping 10%, and at least a third of CA’s staggering $14.4 billion child support debt is interest. Particularly in the recession, this interest saddles hard-luck child support obligors with huge paper arrearages they can’t possibly pay. This sets then up for abusive enforcement action or drives them underground, making it difficult for them to function as parents for their children.

In 1992 the California legislature dramatically increased the financial burdens shouldered by fathers. Many child support orders doubled and tripled overnight, quickly placing CA among the five states with the highest child support guidelines. The legacy of this legislation is a permanent underclass of fathers buried alive under crushing debts.

As Rhodes makes it all too clear, the system is designed to earn money for the state. It does so because a percentage of all arrearages recouped by the state are reimbursed by the federal government. That used to be 66 cents on the dollar, and may still be. But the message is clear – the greater the arrearages, the greater the reimbursement. So state laws are designed to increase arrearages, establish draconian collection techniques and then rake in that sweet federal largesse, so Rhodes tells us that motions to modify support downward by a father are discouraged by bureaucrats in the system.

One of the main ways of boosting arrearages though is by charging interest on them. In MA they charge 12% and in CA they charge 10%. Where can you invest your money and get a 12% return? Why? Not because they expect it to be paid, but because they can create an ever-flowing river of federal money. When CA began charging interest in 1992, its outstanding debt balance on child support orders was 2.5 billion. As of the date of the report, 2003, the figures were 17 billion.

This is a scam!!! Oh, and by

This is a scam!!! Oh, and by the way, my daughter's father lost his new small home he bought for his kids to visit because of this. Because of the garnishments coming out of his paycheck, his job found some strange reason to let him go. He got another job but when his youngest daughter from that marriage rejected him because their mother told them he wasn't paying when he was, he had a nervous breakdown. He ended up homeless for 3 years, living under hedges, eating out of dumpsters, playing a guitar for change. That's what happened to him. That's what's going to happen to all of us if we don't fight this. Fortunately, he came to his senses and contacted his dad who gave him a home. He fought the system and their claims. They tried to push a confession on him and he had two family members as witnesses. Told them he would sign nothing unless he could audio record the goings-on. They refused. So did he. There is a part in the child support laws that say if an arrearage occurs (even if it's the govt's fault), it cannot be changed for any reason. If that has changed since mid-2000s, I don't know about it. So basically, if a mistake or even fraud takes place by the govt in the record-keeping, they still force the parent to pay. We had a daughter in 2005 while his two oldest were in their mid-20s, one nearly 30. He was told he'd have to pay child support to them till they were 50 (heck with the young daughter we had....so much for "in the interest of the child."). He fought and won if you want to call it that. He had to pay only the amt that he was supposed to pay at the point he had the nervous breakdown and during those 3 years. He loves all his daughters but because of this system and a vindictive ex-wife, they don't think he cared about them which I know is absolutely false. He is a wonderful father to our 8-yr-old daughter. Obamacare is the same thing. It turns innocent people into criminals!

This is too bad. The

This is too bad. The Government should absolutely have NO business in a family's private affairs.

Why can't grown adults solve their own personal problems without relying on Government coercion?

I wish I knew the truth--

I saw $300 for a family our size--

well, I guess we'll just be living in our truck, because we'll lose our home--

we don't need/want insurance; we have lived without it for years--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I didn't know that: the Obama Administration *outsourced* the job. The $400 million contract didn't even go to an American company, but Conseillers en Gestion Et Informatique - a company "fired by the Canadian government for failing to build an on-line medical registry on time." Well, it's not like America could have used the infusion of funds. (Virtually overnight, the Canadian company doubled its profits.) Nor that Americans could have used the jobs.

Kathleen Sebelius: "It's better today than it was yesterday. And it will keep getting better." Hmm. Poetic. Almost sounds like a song. Two!

Sounds about right

The penalty, as I understand it, is half of the year's premium of the cheapest plan.

If it is any comfort, I pay the lowest legally allowed here in Mass where we've had this system for years. $975/month. (family)

Tax, Not Fine

First off, it is a TAX not a fine because a fine is something you pay as a penalty for not doing something, like not complying with a law, while THIS is clearly a tax because you're paying for...not complying with the law...ummm...let me go back and read that Supreme Court decision and get back to you on this.

Second, this person might be experiencing a Obamacare glitch. The fine should be $403.70...not $4,037.

Either way, this bill hurts the poor which is something we all knew going in.

The fines, if not persuasive

The fines, if not persuasive enough, will eventually be. There is a reason there is not an individual mandate. I still plan to fight it and any of the fines. If enough people stand up and say it is unconstitutional - they may just have a mess on their hands.

sounds about right, all i can say now is i cannot afford to comply. Is there any attorney pro bono that can take this on to sue the government. My wife has 14 fused vertebrae and the us gov is basically forcing me to be homeless or take all my crap. THERE HAS GOT TO BE A WAY TO SUE. I make 11.25 hr and there is no way i can afford the plan they offer me or my wife. Then they want to take everything by force. The us gov have become the domestic terrorists.

obamacare is extortion at the basic level. can we use rico laws or something against the us gov.

I am at a loss. would it be cheaper to see if the
us gov has a put me down clause for 1000?

This is sourceless garbage

.

I wouldn't forward it either...

makes one look incredible if it turns out false.

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

Actually I am seeing this posted at Twitter too

I have heard this exact same complaint stated over the last few weeks from hundreds that have went to sign up and opted out. The OP is a pastor, So I think he can duck out of this one.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

It's been forwarded around

It's been forwarded around the net a lot so it must be true??

Not the same incident post of course, lol

But many different people that had similar experiences when they went to sign up. Give me a little credit here, I was skeptical myself at first.

Oh, ok. I assumed you'd seen

Oh, ok. I assumed you'd seen the same one verbatim, because I indeed have, several different places, always without a source.

There is a whole lot....

Of bitching about this thing! We might find that it is a wolf in sheep's clothing before it is done.lol. I'm just not going to comply, they can come and throw my ass in jail if they want. I will make it a spectacle, at my age I have nothing better to do anyways, lol.

Can't comment on whether this is sourceless or not, but the thread I posted in response certainly is not. It posts concrete link with so-called threats of "penalties" which nobody should comply to.

Sure, but what you posted

Sure, but what you posted just reiterated what we already knew, that the fine is $95 or 1% of your income.

I have no intention of complying, and I wholeheartedly disagree with the penalties, but there's no need to spread sourceless rumors.

?

I posted what "RUMOR"? Are you addressing me? As you surely replied to my post.
