How do we get Rand's Amendment to the front page?

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/10/rand-paul-constitution...

I am not an expert on how things "trend" but I'd say that it would help out our cause a ton if this news about Rand's proposal for a Constitutional Amendment became front page news. I posted a link.

If you agree that Congress should make no laws that don't equally apply to itself as well as the people, then I suggest posting about this on your twitters, or your facebooks, or your whatever else you post. Some have said this has no chance, and even if it doesn't, the fact that we can make this news should help us. I say we help spread the word about Rand's proposal and at the very least, we can get the talking heads in DC to go on record about whether they support it or not. The only way this becomes news however is if we help make it news. Post away!!!

The Constitution is ignored to begin with.

What sense does it make to amend the Constitution when it is almost completely ignored in the first place?

If we are serious about the future of our country and a return to the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, we need a bold plan, not some ancillary amendment.

How about an amendment that requires Congress to make no law that violates the Constitution? Such an amendment would be laughable in a sense, but that is the state of the country as I see it.

Great point.

I was going to suggest that he slim the language up a bit to "Congress shall make no law" and just leave it at that...

but they wouldn't follow it anyway.

I wonder why he chose to take

I wonder why he chose to take up this fight by proposing a constitutional amendment? Amendment proposals never go anywhere and are immediately dismissed by political watchers as grandstanding, but a vast majority of the population would support a change to Obamacare requiring participation by Congress, the administration and the supremes.

So why grandstand? Why not just propose a change to the ACA?

Propose a change to the law and when the Dems reject it propose it again and again and again until every voter in the country sees their hypocrisy and they're forced to accept it.

Probably so

Obamacare would then be Unconstitutional and up for repeal/amendments, etc....

They'll find a way to

They'll find a way to "grandfather" it in. Lol!

This was on Drudge today but only briefly

too bad it got taken down.

How about engage in some

How about engage in some conversation with some liberals. I think this is one we can all agree on...that congress should abide by the same rules as the rest of us. I would start the conversation with a guided question such as "do you agree that..." And then follow up with introducing Rands amendment. I always say some like " you know who I'm really starting to like is that Rand Paul guy" and " he seems to be one of the only ones that doesn't toe the party line and actually seems logical". Or something to that point.

We should start a "How to talk to liberals" thread. That's the real battle. Otherwise, we're just preaching to the choir.

Oh, what are you doing back here snakepit?

I thought this place was too fringe for you.

Are you sure you want to post this here?

You might make it look "too fringe" and that might hurt its chances.

I never left.

I'm sorry you took such offense to things I've posted in the past, however, I'd say I've been rather consistent in my motives, and my goal was never to offend you. I want what is best for people who believe in freedom and personal liberty. Just because we've disagreed on what methods might be the best way to achieve this goal, and we may disagree on the validity of some of the issues facing our country, that doesn't mean I'm ignoring the networking that for liberty that the DailyPaul provides. Lots of good news and good ideas pass through here and are heard and shared by lots of good people.

D'oh!

As the Daily Paul gets more popular, why is the spelling getting worse?

Thanks for the tip.

It is a chess game move... but absurd as a real amendment!

There is no authority for congress to pass such laws in the first place, laws which would necessitate an amendment to include them... they are always citizens under the law, and subject to any Constitutional Federal law!

Such an amendment is as idiotic as passing an amendment saying congress has to keep their oath!

Or how about the one which purports to limit terms of congress to 6 years?!? That is three terms?!? Those who read the constitution know well that we have been blessed with the greatest of term limits in the history of nations... two years and you are out of there if you don't keep your oath! But maybe the term limits should be on the right to vote! The voters are idiotic baby serfs who cannot even refrain from returning their favorite pig to it's favorite mud-hole! If the problem of term limits is so hard to grasp, imagine what the globalists and opinion makers will do with this next idiotic amendment!?

There are always reasons of strategy to move and shake the idiots in the body politic! These are those who will never, not even when turned into card carrying serfs, understand the constitution, their rights as freeborn citizens of the several states, nor the critical duties laid upon their shoulders to retain that freedom for themselves or their children!

Sometimes it takes idiocy to win the war of freedom in the jungle of political trenches.

Until the precinct dwellers arise as citizens and read the simplicity of their constitution, there is no point in prostrating at the feet of a corrupt, well fattened, herd of serfs!

Your solution?

You seem to be fully annoyed at the system, so congrats to you on knowing how bad it is, but what are you doing about it? My guess is that Rand's idiotic amendment, even as just a chess move, is more useful in shedding light on how our government is malfunctioning than a bunch of hot heads complaining online.

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).

You got that right,

thank you for your inspiration. Anyways I just wanted to send you some good energy, do what you do, LIBERTY!!
