Forget Ronald Reagan, Republican candidates race to be the next Ted Cruz

The competition to be the next Ted Cruz is extremely hot within the Republican Party, where a number of emerging challengers are hoping to capitalize on the newest brand name in conservative politics.

In Kansas, Milton R. Wolf opened his fundraising pitch to supporters last week by asking them whether he could be the next Cruz candidate. In Mississippi, Chris McDaniel announced his campaign to unseat Sen. Thad Cochran last week and welcomed the comparison to Mr. Cruz, calling it “a compliment.”

Then there’s Ben Sasse, a university president running for Nebraska’s U.S. Senate seat, who set state fundraising records by opposing Obamacare. He told the Lincoln Journal Star last week that he would have voted with Mr. Cruz to keep the government shut down last week, saying it was a better option than continuing to spend and run up debt.

“They’re tapping into the anti-establishment feelings that are really running high among Republican primary voters,” said Ron Bonjean, a GOP consultant.

The GOP wants amnesty. The

The GOP wants amnesty.
The GOP wants Romneycare.

Cruz is their guy to make sure it happens.

Next up: GOP pretending to fight amnesty like they did the debt ceiling.

Threw up a little in my mouth after reading

Cruz is an embarrassment to liberty. He's giving us all a bad name and driving away the demographics we need to win. Even though I'm also skeptical about Rand, he at least has been a master at political strategy thus far.

Cruz is the establishment's answer to Rand Paul

At first glance Cruz looks like a conservative, and talks like a conservative, but upon closer examination he's just a caricature of a conservative: something the party's PR men cooked up in a workshop. If you look closely, you can see the rotten old Rockefeller Republican plaster peeking out from under Cruz's shiny new conservative veneer. I'm telling you, he's a ringer they're building up to run in 2016 to split the conservative vote and deny Rand the nomination.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

I

don't trust him, plus HE IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN! I will continue to spread that information whenever and wherever I can...

He's willing to give up his Canadian citizenship...implying that this would then make him eligible to be POTUS! It would not make him eligible! I believe he knows that. If he doesn't know that, why would people want to vote for him anyway?? One of the biggest complaints I'm hearing/reading/seeing is that people are sick and tired of the Constitution not being followed! If he's willing to poop on that part of the Constitution, then he's willing to poop on all of it...just more of the same!

BAN ELECTRONIC VOTING!!

Rand 100 times. I would give

Rand 100 times. I would give my right arm for a Paul in White House. Cruz may serve a good purpose in the senate though.

I agree,

I like Cruz's rhetoric more often than not but I still don't trust him.

Your insight serves you well.

According to 'FreedomWorks', Cruz stands next to God.

Local/state. That is the key.

Who needs insight when you take a look at

Ted Cruz's wife?

I never use "guilty by association"....unless it's Goldman Sachs.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Perhaps

not agreeing with every issue of Cruz's platform, but I do admire his raw courage concerning the ACA within the public eye

Séamusín's picture

Courage would have been standing up against the police state

The military industrial complex, Federal Reserve, failed drug war, education crisis, etc, etc, etc.....

He has no courage, he doesn't need any. He has a Bankroll.

Séamusín

As mentioned

I do not agree with a number of his positions, but at least he had the stamina to endure the wrath of those arguing for oppressive mandates

Reagan picked Geo Bush Sr.

Reagan picked Geo Bush Sr. Enough Said? No.
He started the War on Drugs. Said Marijuana was a domestic enemy.
He kicked off the debt with star wars. And then I watched the Iran Contra hearings where he repeated told the prosecutor he had CRS.

And then they say he had dementia and really couldn't remember it all. How convenient.

Good thing Ted Cruz followed
