The Democrats' Freak-Out About Obamacare Has Begun

Frustrated with the disastrous rollout of HealthCare.gov, the Democratic coalition is beginning to crack slightly on the Affordable Care Act.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), a frequent critic of the health care law, is preparing to introduce legislation that would delay Obamacare's individual mandate by a year. Other Senate Democrats are going to push for an extension of open enrollment in the exchanges. And House Democrats are openly venting their frustrations.

Manchin's willingness to look at tweaks to the law is nothing new. He said in September that he would support a year-long delay in the individual mandate — he just didn't support that being part of negotiations surrounding the federal government shutdown.

Shaheen's proposal, however, is something that could get significant Democratic support. CNN's Dana Bash reported Wednesday that every Senate Democrat up for re-election in 2014 — there are 16 of them — is expected to support Shaheen's proposal. Of those 16 senators, Sens. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Kay Hagan (D-N.C.), Mary Landrieu (D-La.), and Mark Begich (D-Alaska) are the most vulnerable.

What is the percentage of people who've lost healthcare as compared to those who've signed up for Obamacare?

All of this is just cover. They are going to debate how to fix "aca", extend registration, delay penalties and whatever but that is just a ruse, a distraction. None of them are talking about repealing the mandate which is the immoral and unconstitutional part of this law.

Until I see Democrats hollering for a repeal of the individual mandate then there is nothing to get excited about. And the chances of socialist liberals calling for a repeal is nil.

This is like executioners arguing on how they are going to kill you when you just want someone to understand that you are wrongly convicted in the first place.

Vote them out in the primaries.

Gun owners are still really pissed off at democrats for trying to grab their guns.

Whether it gets delayed or not...

Every single one of those 16 Democratic Senators should be ejected from office, and the House Democrats should lose another 30 seats. This entire thing is a complete fiasco and nobody should be voting Democrat out of sheer self-preservation.

I keep reading how the Dems are going to win the house in 2014 though due to negative fallout over the shutdown.

John McCain

It will be interesting to see where he stands on this should it pick up momentum.

I don't think interesting is the right word

Just watch where his corporate masters point him the pathetic sell out.

SteveMT's picture

There is nothing worse than deceptive people who are deceived.

These people knew the tyranny of the Obamacare bill, but they voted for it anyway. They thought that they would be immune from the blowback. These deceivers have themselves been deceived just like the Obama-bots were deceived. I hope that the voters will put them out of their misery in 2014 or sooner.

It's only a ploy

This is just another strategic ploy to keep democrats in the house. The only democrats speaking out in favor of a delay are the ones up for re-election next year

I think he mispoke

Rep. Keith Ellison (R-Minn.)"Hopefully a year from now, we're going to be talking about, 'Remember how bad the rollout was? Man, I'm glad those days are over."

What he meant to say was "Hopefully a year from now, we're going to be talking about, 'Remember how bad the rollout was? Man, I'm glad WE GOT RID OF THAT SHIT."

If ignorance is bliss, Washington DC must be heaven.

What government run program

has ever been successful? Not even one, what a track record!

They should consider fixing the debt problem, S.S., Medicare and others before introducing such a monstrous program.

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

Hold on now.

I have seen HUGE money suck programs work flawlessly.
Think about all the monuments and Grand Buildings with the most expensive chairs you can think of for our Congressman and other representatives.
Talk about a hugely successful government program :)

Ron brought the Liberty movement together, Rand is expanding the crap out of it! :)

How about training chinese prostitutes to drink

more responsible.

Washington spends $2.6M to train Chinese prostitutes, maybe the Congressmen need designated drivers LOL!

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

GOP should tell them ...

... they had their chance.

Let the Dems own this complete disaster. Let the people see how expensive it is. Let the people see what a farce the whole thing is. Let the people see how few people want it enough to sign up.

Let the Dems twist in the wind.
