WOW! You Can Look At Prices On Obamacare Website Without Signing Up!

It looks like the website that doesn't work can be accessed without signing up! LOL.

The website is www.healthcare.gov. They want people to go there to give all their personal info, etc. and then they can see the plan prices.

Once the system figures out what to show you, it will be pulled from their database.

But their database can be accessed without going through all that!

It is at www.data.healthcare.gov

So, just do the following:

(1) Go to this link:

https://data.healthcare.gov/dataset/QHP-Individual-Medical-L...

(2) In the upper right corner, type in the county and state (2-letter abbreviation) and when the results come up, you can flip through them down at the bottom.

(3) You can see the prices to the right (scroll, if necessary).

This website and database is worth $1 billion ???

I'd say more like $100,000 or so. Who is getting these contracts, and are they politically connected?

No data on washington state

cant decide whether that a good or bad thing. maybe my state weaseled out of it somehow (in my dreams)

meow

It only includes the states that are in the federal exchange

Sates that made their own exchanges, such as Washington, aren't included. It's also just public data, the same data you can get via the front page of the federal site without giving any personal info. The link given in the OP is also found on the federal site. It's just another way the public data is made available, intentionally. See my post below for links.

What would I do without the DP Investigative Force?

I still can't believe you found this.

it's public data, linked from the main site

It's the same info you can get through healthcare.gov without giving personal information here:
https://www.healthcare.gov/find-premium-estimates/

That one walks you though it with questions about state, family size, etc. This page:
https://www.healthcare.gov/health-plan-information/
makes the same information available as a pdf document and as an excel spreadsheet. It also links to the data.healthcare.gov data set, with the exact same link as in the OP. See the Socrata table and the link labeled "QHP Individual Medical Landscape".

It's not something they were wanting to hide, it's a public data set that they're making available multiple ways. Here's more about ways to access the data, including APIs for web pages and apps:
https://www.healthcare.gov/downloads/health-plan-information...
https://data.healthcare.gov/videos
http://dev.socrata.com/

An example of someone using the web APIs to access the data:
http://socialhealthinsights.com/2013/10/healthcare-gov-open-...

EDIT: Several people have commented on missing states. The data set only includes states that are using the federal exchange site, not states that have their own exchange sites.

Colorado is not in the data base...

Might I add - put the federal government in charge of any program is a sure thing to fail...

Has anyone tried using one of

Has anyone tried using one of those programs that automatically goes through a website and saves the pages? Basically you could set it to say go through the main page and go through at least something like 3 links. So it would go on the main page, then it would follow through all the links, save those pages, and then go through every link on the second pages, and then follow through every link on the 3rd pages meaning you have mapped out and saved quite a bit of the website. Its been a while since I messed with something like this, and I am not sure its possible or not with the website here given you need to put some basic info it? Someone could try this who may have more experience than me.

$6,000 / month for some family plans. Yikes!

Who would pay that much?

I cant even make $6000 a month as a friggin engineer!

Only the truely rich can pay that much. Otherwise its literally impossible for a family to pay. I mean damn, I couldnt even make $6000 a month as a friggin engineer! Unless of course I had like 10 years of experience or more and then I wouldnt be left with enough to live until I was making over 6 figures which takes a 15-20 year career at least.
$72000 a year is the kind of money you currently pay when you get deathly ill, not the kind you pay just to cover yourself in case you get sick.

How did you find this?

Don't get me wrong. This is a criminal enterprise, Ponzi scheme deluxe, and spy-net of the worse kind.

But I was relieved to see that I would only have to pay about $5,000 a year in protection money to get the goons at the IRS to leave me alone.

I stopped gambling on insurance premiums about 4 years ago. I realized I had been betting I would get sick against United Health Care who was betting I wouldn't get sick. They kept winning.

I also realized that my blood pressure went down when I stopped gambling because I didn't have to feel insulted reading those statements they sent out when you use the insurance.

So I saved $6,000/year (total $24,000) and spent less than $200 cash per year.

I pay cash when I need medical care. I am welcomed with open arms at the doctor's office because I don't force them to take less like the insurance company did.

Only 27 states?

That's all they list. What IS "QHP"? Qualified Health Plan, maybe?

I had a subsiderary of Blue Cross/Blue Shield for decades

I had cancer in 2003 and they did OK. But the subsiderary LEFT my state a few months before ObamaCare passed.

But Blue Cross/Blue 'Shield' is all over the offering in my state now.

Screw this crap.

This is a last gasp by a corrupt fascist government.

Looked up the premiums ?

Per ?: family $840 bronze plan FL
Adult 27 248.68

single Parent Family: 570.68

premium couple; 606.50
Per child:(ala carte) 150.68

Is this per month as I suspect?

$10,080 a year?

This is crazy or evil! (Especially with all the people being cut to part time!) Edit:

This is downright evil!

Wow!

This piece of software would've never passed QA in a tech company. As a S/W Engineer, I am amazed that the quality is so bad when compared to the cost incurred.

The developers and managers of such a product would've been fired if this had not been public money.

Well, I would be willing to

Well, I would be willing to bet that the right people could use this as ammo. Its not exactly like they can take the website offline or push a fix for it over night. They are going to be stuck with this a while.

That sounds very secure

Has anyone tried https://ssn.healthcare.gov/dataset to see if you can get every ones' social security numbers without logging in? or https://irs.healthcare.gov/dataset for tax returns?
