Hot on your Trail

How big business tracks your every move

It doesn't take a top-secret government spy agency with the latest surveillance gear to gather information about you. Every day, companies are gathering and sharing your data, even when you aren't logged in.

They are hot on your data trail. So are law enforcement agents, IRS investigators, and private attorneys, who can gain access to more information about your private life with a subpoena or a court order, which has a lower standard of proof than a search warrant.

yikes--

.

Stop using computers?

*shaking my head*

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Bump.

Sneaky style....

What would the Founders do?

Probably even affects your Obamacare rates

They are probably even accessing your grocery store discount card records as you sign up to see if you are eating healthy or not before setting your rate. Kind of like an instant credit check, lol

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Always buy your clove smokie treats / cigars with cash....

...or at least until they do away with cash. LOL!

What would the Founders do?

LOL?

I went to make a copy at Staples the other day, told that you now need to have a credit card to use the machine; if you don't have a credit card, you pay at the desk beforehand, and they give you a temporary card to use. I wonder how long they'll offer that "special accommodation."

Wowzer.

Now I *could* see where perhaps they do this to have one less mechanical assembly to maintain in the copy machine (for cash / change insertion, etc.).

But still....

[Yeah, I should edit to BLOL (bitter laugh out loud).]

Once I replied, it was too late for you to edit your comment. So I did. :)

Well, as for decreasing the number of mechanical assemblies to maintain in copy machines, I don't think that these machines used to take change. Rather, at the machine itself - and also somewhere at the register - there was a counter. When you were through making copies, you went to the register and paid for the copies in either cash or a credit card. So, yes, you're right in that having a means to pay with a credit card only decreases the number of mechanisms needed. But I'd say that the real goal in forcing credit card swiping in advance of making copies is to... do away with the need for people.

Right on! That would seem to add up, as it were.

I see. (I'm admittedly out-of-touch with all things copy machine and Staples and related technology! [Still have an Atari 2600... D'OH!])

I wouldn't doubt it....

What would the Founders do?

Check this out

I have no idea why but I still have a Tandy "color computer 3" stashed away, Parts for a robot or a high classed BIOS maybe? lol.

Fact

Bacon, Sausage, Booze, Pies and Cakes, Etc. "Our records indicate that 10 years ago you bought a bottle of vodka so you are now ineligible for a liver transplant". This whole thing really worries me, the access they have to info and what they will be able to do with it is just incredible.

Indeed. Reminds me of this:

What would the Founders do?

ACLU has been on this for years. Congress won't help.

They have been building the mass intrusion system for 70 years.
