28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima

[to which I will add http://www.dailypaul.com/303945/mysterious-melting-starfish-... ]

Every single day, 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima enters the Pacific Ocean. That means that the total amount of radioactive material released from Fukushima is constantly increasing, and it is steadily building up in our food chain.

Ultimately, all of this nuclear radiation will outlive all of us by a very wide margin. They are saying that it could take up to 40 years to clean up the Fukushima disaster, and meanwhile countless innocent people will develop cancer and other health problems as a result of exposure to high levels of nuclear radiation. We are talking about a nuclear disaster that is absolutely unprecedented, and it is constantly getting worse. The following are 28 signs that the west coast of North America is being absolutely fried with nuclear radiation from Fukushima…

1. Polar bears, seals and walruses along the Alaska coastline are suffering from fur loss and open sores... Wildlife experts are studying whether fur loss and open sores detected in nine polar bears in recent weeks is widespread and related to similar incidents among seals and walruses.

The bears were among 33 spotted near Barrow, Alaska, during routine survey work along the Arctic coastline. Tests showed they had “alopecia, or loss of fur, and other skin lesions,” the U.S. Geological Survey said in a statement.

Hate to Say It, BUT...

...Nobody listened then...or now.

Sad, very sad. Whether you believe it or not we should try to be aware and awake to these incidents

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Thanks, 1988vote..

and thanks for voting 1988vote up.

Just so I understand this correctly

isn't a ton of water = 1m cubed of water volume?

so the volume of water would be 300 cubic meters/day of water for the whole west coast US + Canada?

Yep, even less than that

Yep, even less than that because a ton of water is actually small than 1m^3

More radiation fear mongering

Please take a look at who is spreading this fear mongering about Fukushima. This website, along with most others, are stuffed with advertisements for water purifiers, iodine pills, etc. They have a DIRECT FINANCIAL INTEREST IN YOUR FEAR. If you blindly accept this bs then you are no better than the sheep that blindly accept what Fox News says or the global warming cult. I'm not saying you have to believe what I do, but do your own research and don't rely on what someone else tells you. My own background in Radiation Biology makes me unable to take this article seriously (especially when people refer to radiation being released into the atmosphere instead of saying radionuclides).

Case in point, he claims that 210 quadrillion becquerels of Cs-137 were released. I went and read the original source for this claim and that was the highest estimated limit the authors could find. Even if this was true, that would be about 66 KILOGRAMS of Cs-137 have been released. Ironically, most areas of the US still have a higher background radiation than in Japan because of high concentrations of Radon in the US (we don't even need to get into the high doses received from medical treatment every year that dwarf any other sources).

I'm not going to go on, this subject is one of the reasons I stopped posting on the DP because everyone blindly accepts the fear mongering as the truth. You don't have to believe my opinion just because of my background in radiation biology, but please do your own research and don't accept what someone else with a financial stake in your fear says.

I hope I was able to encourage someone out there to take a second look at the fear mongering, but I'm sure that I will be spammed with thumbs down and linked to random blogs that also sell iodine pills and purifiers with information we should all blindly accept as the truth.

The instances posed indicate negative enviornmental effects.

There is no fear mongering involved with stating facts objectively.

As an analogy, I assume most on the DP know the consequences of expansionary monetary policy based on fiat money...we know it is a real threat to the economy and we know that no nation who has inflated its currency ever survives fully intact.

Likewise, the dangers of radiation are real, and it is known that radiation kills in sufficient amounts. Can you actually refute any of the metrics/statistics in the article?

Thank you so much.

I'm open to both sides, but quite frankly it seems like the anti-nuclear power side just goes into absolute hysterics if anyone so much as politely disagrees with them. I don't think I've ever seen as much mindless anger thrown around; the ones who actually bother to argue their claims are a tiny minority, most just freak the heck out and - I kid you not - accuse the person of being a "shill" for nuclear power.

I once got accused of being a shill for 'big nuclear' for pointing out how wind farms aren't as environmentally friendly as they're often portrayed as being. Didn't even mention nuclear power or anything related to it.

Many in the anti-nuclear and anti-medical crowd don't even tolerate a simple, polite disagreement, especially one that forces them to question their own stances (especially online). I notice the same thing with the anti-GMO folks to a lesser extent, often using exaggerations to strengthen their arguments. "GMOs will make you brain-dead and sterile if you eat them even once!!!".

IMO, this mostly comes from people who, quite frankly, have no idea what they're talking about and are just parroting what they heard some 'alternative' expert say. But hey, it's to be expected when going against the mainstream has *become* the new mainstream.

tl;dr- Humanity will never be in short supply of charlatans and rubes.

A signature used to be here!

Yet we must fear IRAN or Syria

While this goes on month after month killing the Ocean killing the atmosphere killing life on this planet.

No its more important to institute obama care. or the spying or war war war. That war on drugs war on poverty war on cancer war on terorism perpetual bogus wars against boogie ghosts while the real danger is ignored.

Rothscild can enslave humanity into false debt steal most of humanity's wealth. Engineer perpetual genocides. But these sub humans with all this wealth do nothing about Fukashima.

Guess what they also planned and engineered Fukashima.

Their Georgia Guide Stone First commandment is to murder 6.5 billion humans.

So it puts Fukashima into perspective and answers to me at least why no solutions have occured.

1 Sign It Isn't

1. I'm in California, near the coast, and I know a health physicist who isn't worried about Fukushima.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I knew a guy

who wasn't worried about Nazi Germany either until they put him in a concentration camp. Just saying.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

Volume of Pacific ocean via

Volume of Pacific ocean via NOAA:
660,000,000 Km^3 (cubic kilometer)
1 Km^3 to gallons = 2.641720524e+11 gallons
read as 264,172,052,400 Gallons (264 billion gallons)
1.743535546e+17 Gallons in Pacific ocean.

1 ton of water has a volume of 269.012783313 gallons.
269 x 300 = 80,700 gallons of water in 300 tons.

(80,7000 gallons) / 174,353,554,600,000,000 gallons/Pacific ocean = 0.00000000000004628 % of the volume of the Pacific ocean.

Even if it continues at 300 tons a day for a full year the percentage is very small. Sure it will be highly concentrated around Fukishima, but the dispersion factors of radioactive water (no becquerels given in the article) in the Pacific is almost unmeasurable.

The NOAA map in the article is also displaying the height (in cm) of waves caused by the earthquake, and has nothing to do with radiation.

Pure BS

The dead ocean is happening and will not revive.

You vastly undercalculated that (on purpose?)

Let's multiply your number times the 964 days since 3/11/11 and we lose 3 of your zeros. 0.0000000446%

Much different, however... That's the percentage of the entire ocean COMPRISED of 100% contaminated water. I'm thinking (correct me if I'm wrong here) that people would consider ocean water too dangerous at much less than 100% concentration. Let's stick with 1 drop in a gallon instead. That's 75,708 drops to a gallon and we lose another 5 of your zeros. 0.0033780254%

That's closer to what people would call 'dangerously contaminated' but it still doesn't give the full picture.

Oceans have currents and marine life that both dramatically change the game.

Currents can be thought of like a train. Let's picture painted cars as contamination. If a train passes you and you toss a gallon of paint on a small group of cars, those painted cars will stay together for the remainder of their trip. The chance of someone down the line seeing a painted car depends on their timing. Most people looking at the track will miss the few painted cars. However, if you continuously sprayed every car a little bit for 2 1/2 years, the chances increase to the point that virtually every person looking at the track will see a painted car.

Combine this with the way marine life concentrates radiation poisoning in their food chain and the problem gets much worse. Remember, in the ocean, if you kill off a major player in the food chain, say a coral reef or something, that multiplies the problem many times.

That the ENTIRE PACIFIC OCEAN is already possibly .003% contaminated is quite a different problem than you insinuate.

100% contamination of what

100% contamination of what mass? What concentration? What is the isotope? What is the uptake? What in the sea water is contaminated?

Your example of 1 drop in 1 gallon in each gallon of the ocean is reversed, you should be dividing by 75,508 since it is being diluted more, excluding concentration again since you gave none. Your example is spreading 1 droplet of contaminated 'substance' throughout every gallon in the Pacific.

Lets take your example further.
Say for 964 days 300 tons of contaminated water (mass, not concentration since none was given, of mystery substance) is dumped into the pacific ocean.

That would be 80,700 gallons/day x 964 days = 77,794,800 gallons in 964 days total.

I'll assume 75,708 drops/gallon is a valid statement.

1 / 75,708 drops/gallon = 0.0000132 gallons/ per drop

So lets see if we have enough drops to be spread evenly over the entire Pacific ocean.

We have 174,353,554,600,000,000 gallons in the Pacific ocean.
We have 77,794,800 gallons of contaminated water to spread.
There are 75,708 drops of unknown concentration of substance per gallon of water. Since no concentration was given this refers only to volume.

75,708 drops x 77,794,800 gallons of total contaminated water = 5,889,688,718,400 drops of unknown concentration contaminated water to spread.

We don't even have enough drops of water to spread evenly through every individual gallon of the Pacific
174,353,554,600,000,000 - 5,889,688,718,400 = 174,347,664,911,281,600 Gallons short that did not recieve drops.

Your posting is absolutley devoid of any facts. Read the CFACT article by Kelvin Kemm, a Nuclear Physicist. You are harming far more people, especially those in developing nations who are depending on a safe, renewable source of energy for jobs food and shelter, than the preceived (not real) potential calamity for man and beast, caused by a tsunami which detroyed the outdated obsolete reactor at Fukushima, which has yet to result in a single death or illness, other than the few who were literally on-site at the time of the tsunami. You need to get the facts and stop being controlled by fear.

RON PAUL is the GOLD STANDARD of politics, his value never changes; it's tied to the CONSTITUTION!

This is pretty funny, since I was RABIDLY pro-nuclear until...

I learned of what had resulted from the above-ground nuclear tests in New Mexico and on the Pacific Islands AND I learned of all the suppressed alternative energy technologies that go back further than Tesla AND I learned how the "pebble bed" and "LFTR" technologies were discovered AT THE SAME time as our present reactors, but abandoned because they were NOT effective sources for atomic bombs; and this was BEFORE World War II.

I don't trust governments, I don't trust corporations and I certainly do NOT trust mainstream publications, that diets and medications known to kill people. I detest the environmental movement ONLY because it is controlled by the same bastards (energy companies and the banks) that have ruined our environment. It is all a shell game; and the only to fight it is to pay attention. You cannot do that without reading all sides, then reading between the lines, if you are lucky.

This is very serious

This will have a terrible impact on the health of this planet.

It would be helpful if some

It would be helpful if some of the rhetoric was reined in a little and some layman context was given to understand what 30 billion becquerels really is. 300 tons of water is easier to understand (fills an Olympic-sized swimming pool in about 9 days) but understanding becquerels and sieverts and curies and rads and grays is more difficult to understand than our $17T debt.
