Police Chief: “I just don’t like the riot gear. We’re not the military, Nor should we look like an invading force coming in."

Is This The Best Police Chief In America?
“We’re not the military,” Burbank said at the time. “Nor should we look like an invading force coming in."

"I just don't like the riot gear," Burbank says. "Some say not using it exposes my officers to a little bit more risk. That could be, but risk is part of the job. I'm just convinced that when we don riot gear, it says 'throw rocks and bottles at us.' It invites confrontation. Two-way communication and cooperation are what's important. If one side overreacts, then it all falls apart."

Give him an Award For Best Chief of Police, Competition welcome!

We really need some competition for this title, however! Come on, Chiefs of Police!

"Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the office of a thoroughly nasty business concern." ~~C.S. Lewis
Love won! Deliverance from Tyranny is on the way! Col. 2:13-15

Which is more appealing to you?

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Congratulations for being so courageous

And standing up for what is right!

Cuda I am utterly torn

between doing it here or putting up a competitive post. Mine would go under either humor or weird stuff because I'd title it "Amazing Cop Develops Secret Communication Powers!"

Any pref?

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

It's own thread

humor or weird stuff

A REAL man

A man who is a man, doesn't need the trappings to make himself a man, he already is one and knows it.
Those who wear that garb and get a power surge from it are the ones who's manhood is questionable and want the props to soothe the inferior ego.
Burbank is not only a man, he's an intelligent one! Must have been a policeman before 'stupid' became the leading criteria for employment.

BFGC! Bump For Good Cop!

Always such a pleasure.

Good to hear.

What would the Founders do?

God bless

this man for that statement!
The big problem we have today is a disconnect between the people in general. Starting with the smallest of townships to cities, Counties and states etc...
To remember we are friends, neighbors, and family first. To take the time to get to know your police officers at all levels. They are a part of the community just as we are and could value from the positive support it would empower.

The BIG problem here is the "outsider" input into this void of connection with the community. "THEY" use corporate "guest speakers" to brainwash and suggest their in a war with the "bad guys" who want to kill them at any chance. Their neighbors,, "THEY" through tax dollars "braintrain" good police officers into thinking evil of their neighbors. "THEY" supply all the DARTH VADER costumes and gear to represent power over the neighbor.
This man sees that!

It won't be long now

Before the powers that be try and remove sheriffs and chiefs like him.

Utah. It figures.

I clicked on the link just to see where the police chief works. I figured it would be a western state. Don't expect to hear this from police in New York...or California, Illinois, Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, or many many others.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

or in Texas

... People in this State like to brag about our 2A friendly laws (is that an oxymoron? Laws for our rights?) Anyway, make no mistake, Texas Cops love to feel powerful, and all of them I see in Austin ALL look like they are ready for a nighttime SEAL op or something. Solid Black outfits with every conceivable accoutrements. Cars are blacked out. Everything possible has been done to make them look sinister.
I would love to see these people neutered. Give them baby blue outfits and put them in Prius'. Afterall, why should taxpayers have to put these thugs into bad ass sports cars? Why shouldnt the city be concerned about buying cars that will last years at lower operating costs? oh yeah, because we pay for it :(

I'd rather have a bottle in front o' me than a frontal lobotomy

Austin is the

liberal hq in Texas, with San Antonio coming in a close second with the mayor being the son of La Raza's founder, and the '12 keynote speaker at the DNC. What people of Texas should be questioning is the fact Rick 'Al Gore' Perry, and the next GOP probable Governor, AG Greg Abbott, both claiming to be constitutional conservatives residing in this liberal city, that makes all these unconstitutional city codes. Now, if they were trully for upholding the Constiution, shouldn't they, especially the AG Abbott, be speaking out and challenging these usurping laws in the state courts? We are being too distracted towards the Federal government by all media, including our local radio-cons, who never mention our state issues. Texas, at the present is a conservative state, but if we refrain from questioning our state officials and their non-actions against the usurping laws growing in the major cities of Texas, we will lose our constitutional rights, and Texas will begin to mirror California. If we start focusing and pressing our state officials on 'nullification' laws and forcing them to challenge local city codes, we can save Texas, but if we don't, say hello to Texafornia!

I like this guy
