Tired of seeing bikinis on DP

I'm talking about the "Sponsored from around the web" ads that are beneath every post.

Is there anyway to remove this? The other ads are non-offensive and even interesting generally.
If not, is there a way that the DP could minimize the display? Perhaps move it to a lower corner so I don't have to scroll past it every time? Seriously. Tired of telling the innocents that I'm NOT looking, LOL.

Of course, but I won't deprive Michael of revenues.

Until I can afford a DP subscription.

Sir, adds are based on your browsing habits.

I was shopping for a new truck last winter so I kept getting adds with pictures of pickups.
But still, this is an outrage.

Evilkinis you mean.

Evilkinis you mean. Devilkinis!

I use ad blockers and firefox so I don't see most of them but.. What a perfect opportunity this is!

I can tell you not vaguely but exactly what needs to happen to get the evilkinis off DP.

Talk to other women and get them on board with liberty. It is a sad fact that women (raises shields) tend to have more pecuniary and parochial concerns. They don't often see past the nest. The nest is important but there are things that will affect the nest that are coming and they should be concerned about.

Explain this to them and there will be more women here and we'll see some advertisers with beefcake instead of cheescake.

That is the only thing that will work if you're concerned about what other people see.

If you're concerned about what you see, get an addon ffs. Also the addons to protect you from cheesecake should be the LAST ones you should be concerned with, get privacy addons first.

I've been having an issue with firefox. It's difficult to describe but the webpage becomes jumbled and I have to clear my history and reload, then it comes back. It's a major pain... Have you had this problem?

No I haven't but there are a

No I haven't but there are a lot of different versions of firefox out there. You might want to try an earlier or later version.

Now if you are using a javascript blocker or cookie blocker those can cause web pages to mess up. So there is a little work figuring out what to allow and what not to. I don't know what the 'best' addons are but I'm familiar with noscript and cookie commander. They make it fairly easy to only allow stuff from sites I want to, like the DP.

What I think most of us do is if there's a site we really want to see but firefox with security addons won't work right just open IE for that site then close IE.

My penis downvoted you.

Sorry dude. I'm innocent this time.

Does it ever...

"upvote"... ;D

For goodness sakes, folks...

just subscribe for 10 fiats a month and know that you are helping keep a LIBERTY site alive that impacts 100,000 people a day, every day.

Your comment, however cool, shrewd, enlightening, or monumentally stupid (and trust me, I've made them all) has the potential of reaching 100,000 plus people a day (and everyone that those 100k people influence).

Or at least just scroll past them quickly and get over it.

You Are The Ads

The ads on DP are generated based on your surfing and search history or trends for you individual computer. This is how they achieve relevancy for viewers.

Yes, this exact complaint

Yes, this exact complaint came up before from a DP'er who turned out to be mom unaware of either her son's or husband's browsing habits.

Apparently there are two kinds of ad -

some tailored by the internet based on prior viewing habits, some that all at a website see. (Well, those who can't/don't block ads; and MN asked us not to.) You thought it was just a coincidence that multiple people here were sent the same ad with "a woman in a red bikini?"

Well I'd like to see bikinis showed to me on here more regularly

Well, I'd like (ahem) wouldn't *mind* - to see bikinis showed to me on here more regularly. :)

What I see more often than not, instead, are ads about prepper items, precious metals investment, and such...

Go figure... (not) ;P

I didn't notice them until this post mentioned them... Now I can't stop looking at them :)

You're welcome for the free site

But as you learned in Econ 101, there is no such thing as a free lunch. And despite what you might think, the Daily Paul is not exempt from the rules of economics. Someone has to pay the bills around here, and unfortunately, I don't have a magic wallet.

Here is your solution:

Ten bucks a month, and the ads disappear.

Or you can be like all the other free riders here and use adblock.

I see a lot clearer now Sir

Thank you for explaining priorities. I wish I was not flat broke or I would be subscribing. My being on dial up I have found the DP to be so "Heavy" in refreshing pages that it is almost unusable for me without blocking almost all the features. Somehow I misunderstood and thought the DP was about a great man, Michael Nystrom, and his wonderful dedication to advancing liberty and constitutional values. Now that I understand the priorities better I realize I am just a freeloader and will no longer burden your income resources here. Thank you Michael for the time I have had, I feel for your recent burdens, please take care and stay real man.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Thank you!

I always love hearing from you in the comments, especially in discussions like this.

You're the best.

I meant no offense to you personally

And I do appreciate the site. Thank you.

Would you rather that no one mentioned anything that they did not like? I would assume that you do not see what we "free riders" get on our screens. Wouldn't you like to know what image your site is projecting to visitors?

Apparently, many of your readers like the ads. Dunno bout that. I'm letting you know that I find them distasteful. But I'm not blaming you personally because I realize that it is just a web ad. And, no, it is not based on my Internet habits as some have suggested. The other ads on the page are fine. These are the ads that have things that are put there by you or are targeted for me. Good stuff like silver coins and sandwiches.
