Hey GOP, wake up! You NEED us!

Well with the Republican nominee for Governor barely losing tonight in Virginia, it was due to the Libertarian nominee getting 7% of the vote. Looks like about 5% of that vote could have been Republican.

You need people in your party that stand up for privacy rights!

You need the young people!

You need people who stand up for civil liberties, and unlike the Democrats, we actually see guns as a civil liberty!

You need people who can actually see the hypocrisy in the party, and will walk the walk by cutting defense spending!

Establishment Republicans talk about compromise? Well, libertarians are the ultimate compromise! We truly take the best from both parties.

Tonight should be your wake up call.

But we (Ron Paul/Liberty supporters) are all on the same side...

...ideologically.

I understand fighting for 3rd Party status, and trying to add competition to the mostly 2-party system. Really, I respect THAT.

BUT, this time... RON PAUL himself endorsed the GOP candidate...

This was NOT Obombya vs. RMoney...

This was not two mirror-image candidates put up by Goldman-Sachs, the MIC & TPTB.

These were ideologically opposed candidates, in a race that will have major regional and national implications, where there was a clear-cut difference between the two.

Cuccinelli may not have been the perfect candidate for liberty, like Ron Paul for POTUS was, but he was definitely a much better candidate than the democrat... And RON PAUL himself saw that!!!

When you look at the numbers, follow the money, you see that the GOP establishment did not strongly back R-Ken Cuccinelli, while it appears an Obama campaign bundler helped finance the L-candidate, Sarvis.

This screams out, The DEMS backed the LIBERTARIAN to steal votes from the conservative!!!

Sorry, it's unfortunate but that is what happened. Yes, the low-voter turn out is not good, but this was an off-year election, and this is when you get those low vote turnouts.

I also voted for Garry Johnson, so I'm not against 3rd party or L party at all. Just in this case, it was bad strategy if you care about the IDEOLOGY, ahead of party status...

Just as Dr Paul tried to remind us ...the Gary Johnson wannabes threw everything in the shitter for a Dem-backed candidate with a plastic "L" on his lapel....that's right!...a "LINO"

Attempting to attain 10% voting statistic...which they never got.

huh?

"I think Gary Johnson is wonderful and doing a great job, and people should give him a look."
-Ron Paul

Read his post again.

He wasn't bashing Gary Johnson (who I voted for) or asserting that Paul did either, he was bashing a number of Johnson's supporters who voted for a fake Libertarian (Sarvis). The fact that the Libertarian Party endorsed Sarvis shows a Progressive tendency to their economic views, which is why I have zero regrets over leaving said party.

Could NOT have said it better

...myself.
Blind obedience to a party line is what has led us all to today's point in history.
Many families...for years...would "split" their vote and party registration...Husband would be an "R", and wife would be a "D".
They felt that they were "hedging their bets" and maintaining a connection with whatever party won.
So..this blind party affiliation actually accomplished nothing,,,yes nothing as far as change, just a way of "hedging bets" and a misguided attempt at fiscal self preservation.
Much the same as this blind obedience to a "plastic" libertarian who accomplished nothing positive, and we all lost an important position to launch 2016 from, an ally rejected by the Kark Roves, but embraced by Ron Paul....who has always seen the BIG PICTURE.

gotcha, thanks

I was still working on my first cup of java, and I'm so used to GJ bashing here.

Just what we need, fake libertarians. jeesh!

Gotta Have My Java Also

...so I understand, and commend you for a decent honest response.

I liked GJ but he did come down a few notches IMO when he got mixed up with Roger Stone a "legendary Republican Dirty-Tricks Operative" who has a tattoo of Richard Nixon on his back:

Politics certainly makes for some rather strange bedfellows...doesn't it?

This was certainly apparent in Virgiania...and we were warned by Dr.Paul himself.

Bingo!

Bingo!

In other words....

Libertarians should never support Republicans, ever. Got it, loud and clear. I made that mistake in 2008 and 2012 when I supported Ron Paul even going as far as donating $250 of my hard-earned money and trying to sway Romney voting friends to vote Ron Paul in the primaries.

Never again, never, never again.

Many Here Contributed

...their hard-earned cash to back Dr. Paul, myself included.

And I have NO REGRETS on that.....None...Zilch!!
GJ snatched the Libertarian Party nomination AFTER running as a Republican and "killed" any chance for Dr Paul running 3rd party....Remember?

The consequence of that (either intended or not) was the realization that the voting/primary/election system was corrupted.

Perhaps another "lesson" delivered by Dr. Paul which further exemplified his course of action to effect "change from within".

How soon we forget...how susceptible are we to newly "sprung up" members who post here and seek to splinter this movement.
And NO... I am NOT labeling YOU as such, just....keep focused.

Wait a minute...

I thought Ron Paul said he would not run as a 3rd party even if he didn't win the 2012 Republican primary. Not sure how GJ messed that up for him based on that.

We do have a split within the Campaign for Liberty movement, Libertarians vs. Republican Libertarians (a.k.a Ron Paul Republicans).

I think we need to hash it out and start a new thread defining the commonalities and difference between the two groups seeking a compromise to unify the two groups.

I know abortion is one difference but I do believe we have more commonalities than differences so it may be worth a shot to get some unity. If not, then Libertarians, including myself, should just leave the forum and forget any Republican candidate consideration because there will never be another Ron Paul.

Not Entirely Certain

..whether Dr Ron would have turned down the LP nomination if given it, or "drafted" into it by us all...
..or just was playing it smart; REMEMBER the party leaders (D & R) were particularly concerned re; RP running a 3rd Party "threat".

MSM continually badgered him for a "definitive answer" CONSTANTLY.

ENTER; Roger Stone.
GJ snares the LP Nomination
Stone is in the GJ camp at this time.
DR Paul is prevented from any possibility of 3rd party.

Does this seem familiar?...Welcome to another trip down the rabbit-hole...and it's gonna get deeper and deeper.
We are ALL gonna need to "java up"...put on a fresh pot'o'coffee and see the big picture....it's HUGE! Hope this has helped.
