Dianne Feinstein To Make 1 Billion Dollars Off Us Postal Properties ?

Going Postal: U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein's husband sells post offices to his friends, cheap.
Book Description
Publication Date: September 9, 2013
"National award-winning investigative journalist Peter Byrne reports that the husband of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein of California has been selling post offices at bargain basement prices—often to his own business partners. Richard C. Blum is the chairman of CBRE Group Inc., the largest commercial real estate firm in the world. In 2011, the Postal Service awarded Blum's company an exclusive contract to sell off postal real estate in cities and towns across America. Byrne's in-depth investigation details the many apparent conflicts of interests driving the CBRE deals. It brings to light a scathing government audit of Blum's contract that is being ignored by the Obama administration. The investigation reveals how Senator Feinstein pressured the Postmaster General to stop a postal construction project, and to favor the interests of a developer working with her husband's firm. Byrne explains why the Post Office is not really broke and how powerful forces on Capitol Hill are angling to franchise the U.S. Mail monopoly. We learn that the post office executives in charge of Blum's contract have been up to a financial shenanigans of their own. This is first class investigative reporting on a vital issue of the day that you will not find anywhere else."

Does this mean I will get

Does this mean I will get MORE or LESS junk mail?

I really want the federal postal service to just end already. Between the internet, cell phones and private shipping companies it is obsolete.

If the USPS ceased to exist all I would notice is the lack of a mailbox full of spam, ads, flyers, and garbage I have to immediately toss into the recycling bin *EVERY DAY*

The USPS is literally in the business of cutting down forests, mass producing spam, and stuffing it in your mailbox, thats all they do anymore.

EDIT: And now this grabbler is going to make a trillion dollars off shuffling around the mortages of the physical post offices they use to send out the forests full of spam?

Is there a more perfect example of paper shuffling than this scam?

She's such an evil pos beotch

Traitorous c4nt

I read the headline and

I read the headline and immediately thought to myself... holy crap! She has a husband!?

Infrastructure slowly collapsing

The Postal Service is part of our national infrastructure. Congressman Issa seems intent on destroying this service by forcing the Postal Service to fund the next 75 years of postal employee health insurance funding in ten years. This would drive most US corporations out of business and is a huge source of Postal loss. yet, I don't see democrats lining up to keep the Postal service alive. Sen. Feinstein obviously is benefitting from the Postal Service's demise. As the first article mentions, a postal break-up could result in Congressional cronies getting private mail contracts. we should call the Democrats on their willingness to let this part of our infrastructure collapse as the continue lobbying for more billion$ to spend on high speed trains in California.

The USPS is a dinosaur. The

The USPS is a dinosaur. The entire thing should be shutdown permanently. Package delivery would be handled by UPS, FedEx, DHL and any others able to compete. Ninety percent of what I receive in the mail today is junk mail, which allegedly subsidizes nearly all of the regular mail deliveries, which are underpriced anyway based on real costs.

Despite holding a monopoly

... this "shining example of government goodness" runs 12 BILLION dollars in the red

try that in the private sector

Subsidized via junk mail?

Subsidized via junk mail? Yes, a large amount of mail is junk, but that is paid for by companies and keeps everything else running; its not paid for by the government. How can you say they are underpriced based on real costs anyway when they are charging based on what they can run at. Forget about the whole thing with them being in debt, before that huge liability they are now forced to cover, they were running profitably. The USPS is the only government service that basically operates like a private business and of course once the government interviened, it screwed things up for them.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

how is a gov't mandated monopoly "like a private business"?

The post office might be run more like a business than the military, police or public schools; but it's nothing like a private business.

The USPS is the only entity allowed to deliver letters, all others (UPS, FexEx, etc...) must ship parcels. So one can say they are underpriced, or at least that we don't know if they are correctly priced, because competition is forbidden. Basic economics suggests that removing supply increases demand, so removing various mail companies back when, and new ones forbidding them for generations afterword stifles the supply of letter carriers and allows the 1 monopoly to charge whatever and say "that's what shipping letters costs".

Isn't that why you get into politics?

I mean it sure as hell isn't to represent the People.

And lets not forget the other California lady of influence: "House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi increased her wealth by an estimated $60 million between 2004 and 2010. The gains primarily came from the commercial real estate holdings of her husband."

We all need to become Congressmen and senators

I want my share of the pie in the sky LOL.

It's crazy funny that most congressmen and senators become millionaires shortly after winning election. Most are already before they get there, they sure know how to enrich themselves.

My Congressman Colin Petersen loves the Monsatan people and seed company trolls of Monsatan. He gets millions from them for re-election.

Most in my district must believe he is a down home farm boy LOL!

Todays brainwashing: GMO's are safe

beeman, have to admit that's the first time I have heard Monsanto described as Monsatan. Have to agree as I am writing about GMO etc. in my 3rd book as most don't know anything about it.

One quick example is I met a VP at Kraft Foods and he didn't know me from Adam or that I was writing a book, and I asked him about GMO in Kraft Foods and he said "it's in everything."

The interesting thing about Congressmen, that I'm sure you were aware of, is they were allowed until recently to trade on insider information. Being in the investment field most of my life, and having to deal with the SEC, NSDA, audits, what I can say and can't say, what communication I can and can't send to a client, you name it, it literally floors me that these special privileged few could trade on any information they receive from insider information.

while they evidently aren't allowed to trade on this information today, you can bet there are some shenanigans that still occur.

Thanks for the info on Monsatan!

Nothing will come of this

Nothing will come of this except her getting richer all the time. Sick.

I have no problem with

I have no problem with someone getting rich, but not on my dime using information that can only come from too cozy government connections.

Sad and true

We live in a 15 minute news cycle... 7 minutes from now the next atrocity will occur and we will talk about it for 15min.

OR, are these straws piling up on the back of the proverbial camel? (I can dream right?)

I'm sure it was all completely coincidental. /s

Well if you think about it

A billion dollars doesn't go as far as it used to. I mean she might have just enough to buy herself a conscience lol.
