Fake Libertarian candidate spoils Virginia governors race

In a race that was closer than expected, Republican Virginia governor candidate Ken Cuccinelli (who was endorsed by Ron Paul) was defeated by socialist Democrat Terry McAuliffe by one point after fake Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis managed to garner around 7% of the overall vote.

and that is good news? The dems have the

financial resources to bankroll phony libertarians in every state with a tight race. This is what you want Ron Paul's efforts to come to?

The democrats are usurping the libertarian name as a means of manipulating elections. You seem not to get this.

This was pure deception. It was an attempt to hoodwink the people who have lost faith in both parties to cast a de facto vote for the socialist democrat.

And the Republicans do it with the greens.

Look on youtube it hard to be green documentary. Rick Santourum tried it when he was running against Casy. The problem hear in Pennsylvania is we have horrible election laws and the democrats got carl thrown off the ballot so Rick lost that election. THIS IS POLITICS THERE IS NO HONOR IN THIS GAME. Look what Ron Paul did lobbying for Ken. Ken is Not what Ron Paul is about

Ron Paul = love peace, statesman, Christian, and a True CONSTITUTIONALIST
Ken = hate, war, Nazi, and a tyrant that hates freedom

overall it will be a good thing

as Ron Paul pointed out changing the Republicans is NOT enough. You have to change society.

stop worrying about one individual election and try and see the big picture.

Lol Really?

Ron Paul also pointed out that anyone who would vote for a Libertarian in this election would be insane. I'm seeing the big picture here, and it's showing a lot of gloriously deluded people who are going to continue making the same mistakes, alienating people that would be their allies, destroy all existing coalitions, all because they can't get their way on everything.

You might want to consider everything that Ron Paul says rather than just the things that you want to hear.

I listen

to what he and everyone else says and make my own decisions about life. I just happen to agree with him on some things as it were. But I don't agree on voting for anyone who I don't think fits enough of what my views are just because he says to....not that I would be voting in Virginia anyway. I form coalitions with people on issues I agree with. That doesn't mean voting for someone who I don't agree with a lot of things on. How about fielding a candidate that didn't alienate so many people? It goes both ways!

Or they voted for the only

Or they voted for the only option they felt represented their interests. As the post-election polling data suggests, these were people who would otherwise have voted for McAuliffe.

War on Tea Party

I truly believe this statement in the article:
"This election was a golden opportunity to elect a liberty-minded Constitutionalist. However, the establishment Republicans in the GOP stayed on the sidelines, hoping for a Tea Party defeat."

Even Chris Christie who calls himself a conservative (haha) did not want to chip in some time for Ken Cuccinelli.

Virginians, say goodbye to your Open Carry as McAuliffe will ban it.

The whole situation reminds me of 1912 elections when Taft got his vote split by banker supported Teddy Roosevelt and then banker supported Woodrow Wilson got in and you got not-so Federal Reserve act signed...

The Assembly remains Republican

So Virginia will have at least some gridlock. There's your silver lining.

more proof

"Limbaugh lashed into the GOP establishment’s treatment of tea-party favorite Cuccinelli, saying, “They didn’t want him to win, this is the dirty little secret. I don’t even think it’s a secret now. Such is the animus toward the tea party in the Republican Party establishment that they are perfectly comfortable with a Christie win and a Cuccinelli loss, because to them, that’s a tea-party loss. So now the Republican establishment can run around and claim the tea party is an albatross around their neck. The tea party is the death knell, they’ll say.”"

Reality

Dont make the same stupid assumptions as the establishment. The truth is that Sarvis did not hurt Cuccinelli. This is the SAME BS i read in the comment section at Theblaze....How pathetic

Total brain mush drummed up by the establishment GOP

BS, just like polling a day out and a week out etc., show Cuccinelli down by 12 points and the Fake Libertarian getting between 10-12%.

It's interesting how the same people who say the polls don't mean crap before an election believe the exit polling propaganda afterwards.

If Sarvis only drew from Democrats why were people on the Daily Paul pushing him, I certaintly wouldn't be voting for a Bill Clinton super bundler.

perhaps

Who said that Sarvis got NO support from conservatives? What kind of childish mindset does it take to only deal in absolutes? Did you read the exit polling - we are talking percents.

Majority of Sarvis voters said they would not have voted if they could only choose R or D. As the system is rigged by numerous NWO/Oligarchy/Fed/Shadow govt types, i do not blame them....Those voters have the Spirit of Ron Paul as well.

looks like your whaaaaaambulance is full

or is it a clown car? it sure fits many

Not that many

to be more accurate , it was about 7% that took that ride...Perhaps now they will feel a little better about living in their mommy's basement !

It's quite telling that the

It's quite telling that the core of the "Neo-Republicans" merely ape Libertarianism even though they know their platform has diminishing appeal to voters.

Libertarianism has always appealed to intellectuals, yet today's Republicans forgot to bring along the intellectual underpinnings when they adopted only the parts they agree with.

So Ron Paul is a Neo-

So Ron Paul is a Neo- Republican ? Fact is Liberaltarians passed up a liberty minded candidate who Ron Paul himself endorsed and instead went for a PHONY Obama funded Loser. Its a fact. They voted for a Liberal FRAUD. For self proclaimed intellectuals they sure are stupid nowadays. You know what the problem is with intellectuals? They have ZERO common sense and this illustrates that to the fullest. They saved the french fries while their kids and grand kids furniture burns to the ground. More like Intellectual Idiots. Suckers that fell hook line and sinker for a fraud...

Where did I suggest Ron was a

Where did I suggest Ron was a Neo-Republican? There are a lot of Tea Party favorites out there who know very little of Libertarianism. They are still effectively neo-cons. Evidence: Sarah Palin. Evidence: Ted Cruz... just to name a few. These folks know the tune, but they forgot the lyrics.

I agree with one part of your post.

There are a lot of Tea Party favorites who know little about Libertarianism, but I'd venture to guess that on economics that Cuccinelli probably was close to the proper view than Sarvis was, especially considering that Sarvis went to a free market school and therefore should know better than to dump on the Austrian School.

Was the Libertarian a libertarian?

Methinks not. Methinks you got played like a cheap fiddle.

I provide comment for this contest that has ended from afar. I am not a Virginian and from the looks of things on these threads, most of the SoCon bullying stems from people who are also not from Virginia.
