ABC 7 WJLA is reporting that Adam Kokesh had pleaded guilty to carrying a shotgun, possession of an unregistered firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and marijuana possession at an unscheduled hearing this morning.

He was arrested at his home on July 9th, during an evening SWAT raid after posting a video online of himself loading and pumping a shotgun in Freedom Plaza in Washington DC.

The Washington Post reports that Kokesh was ordered to be released from the DC Jail pending his January 17th 2014 sentencing.

** Hope this isn't true; just checked ABC 7 WJLA, as of 11:45am Pacific time, nothing is on their site...

Though, it is good that he'll be out, if the story proves true. But he'll be under 'bondage.' So, is that really free??

** Though, I'd have to hear him describe his own situation in his own words to see what exactly happened; I see no reason why he'd plead guilty, when he had no problems standing up principally, so well, so far.

Be that as it may, hope the homeboi gets some well deserved rest, as he ramps up his legal fight.

UPDATE 3: WaPo & DCist + govt terrorists play the victim-card for arresting Adam

** NEWSFLASH: the State/Leviathan thugs would like to remind you that their job of stealing and murdering you is hard enough, without all you 'peon' ants getting uppity, righteous, and growing aware of their crimes; oh so now that they want to play the 'weak' victim, they're our "public servants" now, and not 'commanders:'

Every day, federal and local law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to protect national government facilities, national landmarks, and public servants working in our city from ongoing threats to our security. Their jobs are hard enough without irresponsible people intentionally coming into the District of Columbia to brandish a loaded shotgun in the heart of the nation’s capital. As today’s plea demonstrates, there are consequences for anyone who flagrantly abuses our city’s firearms and drug laws. - Ronald Machen, the U.S. Attorney for D.C.

Gun Activist Adam Kokesh Pleads Guilty To Weapon, Drug Charges

By Sarah Anne Hughes in News on Nov 6, 2013 1:03 PM

Adam Kokesh, the libertarian gun activist who held a loaded shotgun in downtown D.C. on the Fourth of July, has pleaded guilty to weapon and drug charges, WJLA reports.

Online court records show that he accepted a plea deal today, was released and will be sentenced on January 17. Kokesh originally planned to defy D.C.'s gun laws by leading a loaded rifle march across the Arlington Memorial Bridge on Independence Day of this year. Instead, he uploaded a video of himself at Freedom Plaza with what appeared to be a loaded shotgun to YouTube. He has been in D.C. jail since July after a judge called him a "very dangerous person" and other requests for bond were denied.

Virginia gun rights advocate Adam Kokesh pleads guilty to gun charges, released from jail

The Washington Post - Adam Kokesh

By Keith L. Alexander
November 6, 2013

Adam Kokesh, the Fairfax-based gun rights advocate, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a variety of charges associated with an Independence Day incident in which he videotaped himself loading a shotgun in Freedom Plaza, just blocks from the White House.

Kokesh, 31, was ordered released from D.C. jail, where he has been for nearly four months , pending a January sentencing hearing.

Kokesh’s impromptu plea came during an unscheduled hearing, just two weeks after Kokesh pleaded not guilty Oct. 24 to the charges and told Judge Patricia A. Broderick that he was exercising his constitutional rights. Kokesh, who had grown a long, thick beard while in custody, also announced that he was replacing his attorney, who had been involved in the case since Kokesh’s arrest.

A trial was set for Nov. 18, and Kokesh’s supporters had been advocating for jury nullification in his case.

I'm sure his plea is just him "playing ball" so he can get out

Shouldn't be long before we all know what the deal is.

Perhaps, but you should also

Perhaps, but you should also know he's going to be monitored far more closely now.

Then again, who ISN'T?

Why the switch?

He originally pleaded not guilty and made this statement:

“Due to the oath I swore to the Constitution when I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, by virtue of the universal human right to self-defense, in accordance with the Supreme Court case D.C. v. Heller, which affirmed that the statutes under which I am being charged are unconstitutional and thus null and void, and on behalf of all freedom loving Americans, I plead not guilty.”

Tack on a drug charge ...

and you are probably looking at a felony that would carry up to ten years in prison. (It would depend on the jurisdiction and its laws)

That is a tough nut to swallow for a youtube stunt. He probably got some sort of an agreement to do months rather than years if any more time at all.

WWYD? I know what I would do?

I hope he stays sober.

A lesson out there for those that choose the path of civil disobendience .... There are consequences. Be prepared to face them.

God Bless.

yup, same question I have, but won't find out for sure,

until the homeboi speaks in his own words about what exactly happened.

who knows what they did to

who knows what they did to him. I can't imagine this was really his first choice. He will probably be under a gag order too so we will never know all the details. Get ready though, Adam is not the last one the goons will work over...

Beware the cult of "government"...

I suppose in some sense,

perhaps Adam told himself, 'what does it matter if the state labels me 'guilty'?? It's all a scam and BS ruling anyway!'

Lately, I've personally also come to view less critically of the "guilty" plea. In an ideal world, sure, we can all clog up the system if we all plead not guilty, go through the entire jury trial, while rotting in their jail or having insane bond held over you, and stand on principle and 'suffer' the consequences.

but why should anyone have to 'suffer' the consequences under rules set up by the them? it's their House Rules; they'll do whatever the frak they want, label anyone they want whichever way they want, regardless. Frankly, to be called a 'criminal' by a legion of institutionally enshrined guild of terrorists, should be considered a badge of honor.

but, as anyone who's ever had a run-in with govt terrorists beyond a typical traffic ticket can attest, anything more 'serious' than that, it's a non-stop living hell: one prosecutor hands off the case to an endless army of equally tyrannical fcuktards. they retire, a new generation of brainwashed and ambitious state-actors come along to pick up where they left off!

if they want someone to rot in jail forever, on continuous clerical procedurals, they can indefinitely detain anyone, even before the NDAA, 'legally,' via governmetese semantical alchemy.

Govt's purpose, once they have you in their clutches, is to 'teach you a lesson.' And, if you don't comply: utterly destroy your life, family life, social life, professional life, economic life, and your both physical and psychological well-being.

frankly, I'm always amazed at/surprised of the fact that ANY sane person can come out of the terrorist govt 'justice' system, with their selves 'intact.'

Speaks to the resilience of the human spirit, but at the same time, those fcukers have always used our adaptability to all heights of insanity, against us, throughout history: humans can 'live with'/'get used to' a lot of insane conditions be they voluntary, or forced upon or even born-into: concentration camps, generational slavery, etc.

so, regardless of what the state says, AK didn't do a damn thing wrong, nor, even under the most strictest of Constructionist Minarchist Constitutionally lawful doctrine, did he violate ANY law.

NO possession of anything is unlawful, though maybe 'illegal' under the current fraudulent tyrannical UnConstitutional judicial paradigm.

Nor, is exercising your God given natural right to speak (1st Amend), concurrently holding an implement of natural right of self-defense (2nd Amend.), 'illegal,' even under the Constitution, not that those degenerate fascists care/give a damn/uphold their oaths, let alone actually practice or believe it.

Regardless, it's an ordeal I cannot imagine anyone going through, especially for a prolonged period of time. Just imagine all those who came before us who had endured much longer sentences for 'crimes' they literally had nothing to do with, under much worse conditions. When will humanity grow up... .o/

Still, would've love to have seen a SCOTUS 'legal'-precedent set, with the name "Adam Kokesh" in it: 'Adam Kokesh v DC,' for posterity.

"Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it's realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy." - Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul

probably

the difference between the proposed plea deal and what he could get otherwise were too great for him to go for "plan B" of sitting it out for purposes of making a point/ changing the law, etc. I don't believe the "system" views AK as all that significant of a prisoner, to them he is just one of many, and his constitutional theatre is not something they comprehend. So I doubt he was targeted for any specific kind of mistreatment while locked up, just over his views. He just got the normal dose of mistreatment. I'm sure it wasnt a walk in the park, though.
