Sen. Rand Paul, who’s made no secret of exploring a 2016 presidential run, recently met privately with News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch and Fox News head Roger Ailes, POLITICO has learned.

The meetings — Paul sat down with each man separately — came as Kentucky Republican and tea party favorite has been working to smooth concerns among Republicans and influencers about whether he shares his famous libertarian father’s views on issues like national security.

Murdoch and Ailes have both historically had a good relationship with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Ailes reportedly was part of a group of elites urging Christie to run for president against lukewarm front-runner Mitt Romney in 2011.

But Murdoch made clear how displeased he was last year when Christie embraced President Barack Obama immediately after Hurricane Sandy ravaged New Jersey.

** While I can obviously see why Rand had a "Sit Down" with the 'Dons,' still like Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul's answer to Ailes & Murderdoch, much much much better: Roger Who? Murdoch Whom?? Never heard of 'em, nor care!

As I Always Say

As I always say, Rand is nobody's fool and Rand is not Ron Paul. But, we all know who he looks up to and who he learned from all his life. So with that being said, I am comfortable with who Rand Paul is and what he has to do in the "Lions Den" to go forward.
I have no doubt that Rand is our Trojan Horse to the White House!

I don't see why FOX news gets

I don't see why FOX news gets to pick the GOP front runner anymore. Their audience is dieing by the thousands every day of old age and their ratings are nothing to wright home about. MSM TV news is virtually dead.

Don't read too much inti it.

They meet with all GOP presidential hopefuls to gauge which one push. I'm guessing the meeting didn't go well since their boy is already Cruz.

hard to say, Rand has to do

hard to say, Rand has to do what Rand thinks is the right choice. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Im not gonna judge him, its to early.

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do...grease the system.

Make the system work for us and not against us is the goal. How to keep your moral compass and your soul in this process are the questions to ask? What to tell your dad about these meetings is another?

Steve,,,,YES!!!!!!!

I agree with you 100%. Whatever it takes...This time...NO MORE Jesse Bentons..etc.

No more who???

Just kidding. No more trash, like JB for sure.

Politics is very imperfect. Ron Paul did everything perfectly, idealistically, consistently, and uncompromisingly, and look what happened. Although I agree with the way Ron did this, and by Ron doing it his way has brought us all here, we have got to move forward. As much as Ron's way appeals to me and many others, it didn't work. We need a different strategy, so Rand's way is an alternative and it is the only game in town at the moment. I don't like this new way, believe me, but the reality of what happened in 2012 is still fresh in my memory.

I agree but...

You don't think that RP is already aware of this, and most likely consulted Rand prior??? I KNOW that he's involved with everything Rand...

If I were trying to lead a revolution.....

.....I'd want everyone on my side. You don't change the system by creating enemies, you change it by creating coalitions. I believe Ron said something like that when asked about why he was working with people like Barney Frank.

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).

In addition....

...look how far people like Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity have moved to the side of liberty. Now I'm not saying that they are full blown constitutional libertarians or anything, but people with huge audiences like that aren't going to keep moving our direction unless people like Rand give them a reason to. You don't convince people by ignoring them. You convince them by communicating with them.

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).

These people have two goals

These people have two goals it is up to us to make them conflict with each other:

1. Make Money for investors
2. Control the narrative that gets sent out to Americans

If Americans demand Liberty discussions and media then they will respond. They are servants to their shareholders first then the government. The American propaganda machine must maintain the facade that they are real news networks informing the American people. When they pump out bullshit and we watch the system works great and everything moves along smoothly. When we start turning off the TV's and the viewership drops and ad revenue and subsequently the stock price begins to plunge then we force their hand and make them work for US.

The people are sick of the corrupt Neo cons and the corrupt socialists/democrats and the media is beginning to take notice. Rand is not meeting his masters, the media is getting behind him because Rand represents a new way in American politics that we are interested in.

The dictatorship we live in is not an overt one like the Soviets or Chinese etc. Our Gov. must at all times look like the loving and caring democracy that represents us and that is how we beat them. Peaceful civil disobedience forces their hand into overt oppression and the facade begins to break. We have a powerful cultural heritage of freedom and self determination. Hollywood has tried damn hard to subvert this but Liberty touches something deep within our national psyche and our souls- once that nerve is struck we can never go back asleep.

We have all felt it at one time or another, even at small moments. Its that feeling you get when you look another air traveler who opted out in the eye and both know you are not going to roll over whatever those idiots say. That moment when you email your grandfather a link showing WWII vets defying Obama and storming a national monument with the same tenacity as they stormed Omaha beach over 60 years ago. Or as simple as backing up a fellow liberty supporter who makes a controversial comment on a MSM article knowing that it may sway even a couple of people's opinion.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

I've never

been surprised by the behavior of any professional politician, especially one looking at a prez run.

With the exception of his father, I've never given two hoots.

I am thankful for some of Rand's action as a junior senator, as I am of a few others.

I am interested in the Liberty Movement, but until I see a real peace candidate, it is the philosophy and the spreading of that I find exciting and important.

Welcome to my parlor said the spider to the fly

LOL

Why not?

Why doesn't Rand go all the way and just hire Carl Rove already. I'm sure Gingrich and Kissinger are available to give him foreign policy advice as well. Who knows Cheney might be up for being VP again. Can't hurt to ask.

Thetis

That's exactly...

what I was thinking.

On the other hand, maybe Rand could just get some big bucks, make some fake promises to them, and do the standard thing by getting elected and ditching the promises... but ditch the promises to the donors rather than the people for a change???

We have a winner!

This is it exactly.

Take The Money And Run

That's what I was thinking as well. So what? Just meet with the big boys and let them give you all their money. They'll trumpet your name all over the place and you'll win the election. Of course they'll want all kinds of assurances that you're going to do thus and so for them but who really cares? After you're in office just blow them off. What are they going to do? Are they going to go on television and say "He said he'd bomb Iran if we got him elected - naughty man!!!" Or what, sue you?
I'd love to see someone trick the tricksters.

"Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force of arms."
Ron Paul

Rove

is for the presidents who don't have a clue. Rand has a clue so Rove and Rand wouldn't make a good team and Rove and Bush became notorious
