I hate Porn

Pornography is a problem.

Porn is like a narcotic, it hijacks the brain, it redefines human sexuality, and in the meantime ruins lives, destroys families, and destabilizes ministries. And honestly it’s a problem that makes me tired — tired of the devastation Satan is causing to children, women, families, pastors, churches, and the world with this tragic evil.

Porn became a problem for me when I was only six, and by the grace of God that problem ended when Jesus saved me at age seventeen. But I know it rarely happens so cleanly. It is still a temptation, yes; temptation abounds living in the city I do, and with the heart I have, but grace abounds all the more in Jesus Christ.

Friends, I hate porn. And here’s why.

To answer your question.

No I would not be happy BUT I do not own her or his body and have NO RIGHT to tell them what to do. IT CALLED LIBERTY!!!!! We have a right to make bad decisions. You reap what you sew.

Legal porn

Jill, I think most are alluding to legal porn (and as you mentioned in your post, legal strip clubs). I doubt you'd get much of an argument from most DPers (but I'm not speaking for everyone, only for me) when it comes to illegal porn and people being in other countries sold into sexual slavery for a family's profit. Those are serious issues, as is any type of slavery.

"Villains wear many masks, but none as dangerous as the mask of virtue." - Washington Irvin

If someone is willing to SELL THEIR KID that is on them

I get that bad things happen and teens/young adults can be tricked, conned and all that jazz BUT if parents are selling their kids how is that related to PORN? That is a shitty parent issue at minimum. That poor kid odds are had a terrible life already and hopefully can get out of the situation on her own. We are not all dealt perfect hands in life and many times they sometimes feel not even worth living. Some rise above it and others sink right down into it and go numb.

Here in the states we do have laws right? Can some underage girls end up on videos? You bet but I guarantee once it comes out in the media that story will EXPLODE and those participating will have their asses handed to them. Ever watch the show, to catch a predator? They get those guys simply on the INTENT of trying to do something and not actually having done anything YET (minus the sick thought of messing with kids BUT having thoughts versus actions should be looked at differently unless you are into the whole thought crime thing).

People don't get into HOOKING because they love it ( well I suppose some could lol ), usually they are in the situation for a reason and one good reason is the laws make it illegal to where they need a PIMP or form of protection because they can't exactly call the cops if some body stiffs them ( pun intended ).

Here in Nevada there are legal options, the girls have to do a ton of stuff like get tested, wear condoms, there is security, cops will come and handle rowdy patrons if need be AND they can come and go as they see fit.

It isn't the prostitution that is bad, it is the fact that it is ILLEGAL over here in many states that cause the black market for this stuff. The same can be said about drugs as well and all the issues that come from drug deals on the streets versus simply legalizing it to get it out of the shadows and alleys all over the country.

Do other countries have evil things going on? You bet but besides child slavery and prostitution there are also many places that won't allow a women to do a TON of things including mandating what sort of clothing they can wear, no voting rights, no ANYTHING and men can kill/harm them simply based on their word on them cheating or messing around on them whether it is true or not.

We are not the worlds policemen and it is sad that PARENTS would sell their own kids just so THEY can eat but it isn't my kid and never will be.

If my daughter grew up and wanted to get into porn or work at a brothel, that will be up to her when she is older. I just hope to never have a situation where she feels the need to do something like that just because HER PARENTS couldn't support her or feed her.

If she WANTED to become a stripper or what have you, that will be her decision. I have done many things that my parents do not condone especially after I was an adult (never a prostitute though LOL). Just because they were in 100% disagreement with my decisions doesn't really mean I need to follow what they are telling me even if they read somewhere in some old book how evil and bad my actions are or that they might land me in hell.

Even the christian god gives supposed free will but then in the next breath finishing things off with BUT if you do these things you will go to hell. Very odd if you ask me.

Great reply,

and I understand free will. having said that pornography is a dirty business, (pun intended), and it leaves many broken lives in it's wake, not only of the people who participate, but broken marriages and relationships.
As for God and Hell, God is the ultimate spirit of love, if you take love into your heart, that is what your soul goes to, if you reject love, and carry the seven deadly sins in your heart, that is where your soul goes to.
Hell is not a place of fire and brimstone, it is a state of spiritual being where there is no love.

I stand corrected. The legality of it is not as important as the

CONSENT. So yes all of those situations you noted are horrible. I am against anyone being forced to do things against their will.

Even if consensual porn were illegal I would still support it. But like you I do not support use of force on people.

I would imagine that if I had a daughter that became a pole dancer I would be very surprised. And I would want to know exactly where she worked so I would never go there accidentally. And yes deep down it may hurt. But I would love her and accept her just the same.

If she told me she was whoring on the side. I would fear for her safety, but since I do not have full control of her I would do my best to give her advice to be safe.

I would feel worse if she voted for Obama or Romney though. It hurts me more to know that a good person supports War, Torture, and overall corruption.

What I would not do is disown my child or try to use force. I hope this answers your questions Jill.

Deep down everyone is Libertarian.

because prostitution is illegal

They can't rely on the law to protect them. Legalize prostitution and pimps disappear. Did you know that prostitutes, before their noble profession became illegal, spear-headed woman's rights? Prostitutes later became madams and were the first women to own property. Prostitutes were also the first women to wear brightly colored clothing out in public as well as make up.

Legalize prostitution.

Wow...

Don't blame porn for your own lack of self control.

YOU were the problem.

Also, Jesus didn't do anything for you... YOU saved yourself.

Grow up and take responsibility for your own actions.

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

Addicts often objectify their addiction as 'evil'

This is why 'reformed' addicts are so often the most self righteous prigs around.

I'm not calling you a prig, mind you, but trying to determine if you are.

I really don't care if you hate porn or love porn. I don't care if you hate booze or love booze. I don't care if you hate pot or love pot. I don't care if you hate spectator sports or love spectator sports. I don't care if you hate reality tv or love reality tv.

I only have one question for you and other haters.

Do you want to force me to pay taxes to send armed men in uniform to put people in a cage, for engaging in the activity of which you disapprove?

If you do not, welcome brother! I will gladly read anything you wish to post warning about the dangers of porn or any other vice you hate. But please always put this caveat because in our society of statolaters the assumption must always be that people do intend to use the state.

We do all walk around armed you see.

We all carry a concealed weapon which we can use from a distance and anonymously. No one will ever even know we used it, but some poor fcuk will end up caged or killed or robbed or just regulated out of his business or licensed out of a job or building coded out of his house. Not knowing otherwise, we must assume you intend to use this weapon, because it takes intelligence and moral courage not to.

So saying you are not a statolater up front will make everyone a lot less twitchy.

On the other hand if you do want to use the state to regulate, ban, tax, or otherwise hamper pornmongers from the cowardly security of the voting booth, then I politely ask you to go worship your beloved Statan elsewhere, and also, GFY.

Porn keeps Men boys.

And because of that our society is the victim.

Lol, please

The state keeps everyone in an infantile state. Porn isn't the problem. It's prigs and pietists who were tricked by rich fascists into believing the state was the 'solution' to vice. Which is just another way of saying robbery, slavery, rape and murder is the solution to someone having a drink or a smoke.

The entire public education is designed to keep anyone, male or female, from becoming an adult. Obey your 'father', the state. Do not question authority. The correct answer is the one you regurgitate and remembered by rote, never the one you figured out. Thinking for yourself is antisocial. There is no 'I' in team! Pledge allegiance to a scrap of cloth!*

The entire welfare state is designed to protect people from ever having to be responsible, and discourage anyone from being responsible.

The entire warfare state is designed to channel social aggression caused by keeping people in a permanent adolescent emotional state.

Porn? You think porn is the problem? You're swimming in siht and you look at a fly and think the fly is a big problem.

I'm sure there are a lot of vices that are actually harmful to people. To the extent they are, it's almost always caused by government. When they are not caused by government they are absolutely eclipsed by problems caused by government.

Love it or hate it - it dispells the myth

Many, many people have believed and repeated and convinced others that porn is the gateway drug to violent behavior. Porn breeds rapists and misogynists, and abusers. Let the porn genie out of the bottle and society will crumble into a lawless, degenerate pile of woman abusers.

Very few times do we get such a clear picture of cause and effect, however. The changes in technology came so quickly! From VCR to DVD to internet to tube sites, in just a generation or so. Consumption of porn increased by *orders of magnitude* over this time span. You need a log scale to even understand the kind of increases in participation by folks in the porn market.

People who might have peeked at a tiny bit of porn now watch regularly.
People who would never have been exposed to it now know the names of famous performers.
Kids who used to hope for a peek at Playboy now get to see *every* kind of porn at very young ages - for free!

And what has happened to rape and assault stats while this literal explosion of porn availability and consumption was going on? Nothing. These crimes have been on a steady decline for decades, seemingly with zero influence either way from the porn industry.

Myth... busted.

It might be harmful in other ways, but it isn't driving violent crime, that's a proven fact.

I'm voting for Peace.

I don't think you can call the myth "busted" yet...

I do agree that porn use has increased by orders of magnitude. And I don't know if it correlates with violence or not, but I don't think that there's any proof to the contrary either.

Streaming video and tube sites are only a few years old. We don't know the effects yet.

But we do know that porn *can* lead to...

-Long periods of isolation.
-Social withdrawal.
-Hyper-stimulation/desensitization.
-Low self-esteem.
-Lack of interest in engaging the opposite sex.

Probably the biggest threat(and most dangerous) is distraction. Because many guys can watch an hour or two of porn a day and not think twice about it. They're not thinking about how valuable that time really is, or how they could use it to better the world or actually find a partner.

See my other reply in this thread for more info.

I'm not advocating banning porn, or even saying it's necessarily "wrong" - but I don't think it's healthy - and I think the fact that it's considered "normal and healthy" is VERY dangerous, because guys have no idea what the potential consequences are.

This stuff is brand new - not porn - but the hyper-stimulation of unlimited porn on demand, and we really have no idea of just how big of an influence it can have on people's brains and lives.

I guess my point is that the other behaviors that porn encourages(isolation, hyper-stimulation, etc)could very well lead to violent behavior - it's too new, we really don't know yet.

Teenagers suffering porn-induced ED by the tens of thousands is downright scary, and we have no idea what the long-term ramifications of that are - we've never seen it before in human history.

3 months ago I would have said that porn is healthy, no question. But after doing the research myself, my view has radically shifted - and I think it's much more dangerous (maybe not through violence, but in other ways)than most people realize.

Oh it's busted all right

If porn were a *cause of* (as we so often believed 20 or 30 years ago) sexual violence, then the availability of VCR tapes and back room "adults only" sections of the rental shops would have shown it immediately. Just that innovation increased the porn industry production and consumption by an order of magnitude. Way more than enough to trigger any measurable causal response. The absence of a measurable sex-crime wave in the 80's is all the proof we need to debunk it. The additional orders of magnitude growth in the industry since that time have likewise failed to move the needle on violent sex crimes.

You list many social problems, and I won't dispute any of them. However a causal link from porn to rape is out of the question. Absolutely debunked.

I'm voting for Peace.

Moderation in all things. For some, this very web site is a compulsive addiction.

It's all just art to me from comical to fascinating to repulsive

and I could fill a book discussing it but like any academic endeavor, talking about it just takes the fun right out of it.

As related by commenters previous, "erotic art" has been around for a long time and occasionally in various places it's been taken to "high art" forms. To say it's non-traditional to our present culture is simply to negate any Grecco-Roman influence atall. Throw away all classical art, literature, music and philosophy while yer at it.

Throw out pretty much the entire Renaissance too. Those guys LOVED trading pics of women around the courts. If I drop the name of a single artist I'll be lost in the history and unable to stop myself. Then all of impressionism and might as well get rid of cubism and abstract expressionism because you can't be sure if it's NOT porn and when photography hit the scene it was such a predetermined outcome.

That's before we consider the simply awesome and mind blowing stuff that came out of pre-industrial Japan, China, India and even Egypt/mideast. In fact, what culture doesn't glorify nudity on pottery, sculpture, wall art, whatever but eskimos?

I've never seen eskimo porn. That's about it. But if you think it stops here, hooo boy are you gonna be shocked by the future. I always kinda knew as soon as men could build a realistic robot humanoid, well, happens the Japanese are great at that kind of thing and you bet they are building them now. Plus whatever other levels of VR & etc. At a certain point I really don't know if that will be art as we see it now but a morphing of lifestyle.

There's this whole adaptive layer of interface between human and technology. That's just kinda scary to me. But putting things in historical perspective helps.

There is nothing strange about having a bar of soap in your right pocket, it's just what's happening.

Another perspective on the

Another perspective on the subject.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSF82AwSDiU

That's a great video...

I clicked on the post thinking it'd be related to that video. I'm not religious. I don't care if anyone watches porn. I used to.

Without going into detail I started noticing I was less sensitive with my girlfriend and got to the point where I preferred porn to the real thing.

That video, along with YourBrainOnPorn.com snapped me out of it - and I'm really glad that it did. We're only 2-3 years into the era of free tube sites and mobile access on demand.

And I think there's a very real threat, especially to young guys who will watch thousands of videos before ever having real sex, of massive hyper-stimulation and desensitization.

No one likes to hear or believe that - because 99% of guys partake in it and it's socially accepted as normal and healthy. But based on my own research and experience I think that it can be very harmful and the medical community at large has no idea - because this is so new.

For the first time in history we're seeing things like...

-Teens and guys in their 20's experiencing chronic ED.
-Guys who would rather watch porn than meet women.
-Guys who watch 5 hours of porn daily and don't think twice about it.

There's a much longer list of potential problems that it can cause. The Reddit group "NoFap" has thousands of stories of porn related problems. The evidence is there. It's dangerous, much more than most realize.

That said, I don't think it should be banned or regulated. I personally don't care if others choose to watch it. But I do think that more people should be exposed to these studies, because millions of guys have no idea how much damage they're doing to themselves with this stuff.

For me this realization was on the same level as waking up to the idea of real freedom. I'd never been exposed to the idea. But now that I have I'm wide awake and I'm never going back.

If you're a male who watches porn on any level I HIGHLY suggest looking into this and then making your own decision. Because even in "healthy moderation" today's porn is like crack compared to magazines, DVD's and even the internet of 3 years ago - and people have no idea how dangerous it can be until the damage is done.

Great story of your decision

Great story of your decision to change. I have a teenage son and this video is giving me some food for thought. I want him to eventually fall in love with a quality woman, have a great sex life, and give me a bunch of grandbabies. If porn is a stumbling block to all of that, I'll do my best to protect him and increase his potential in the real world.

Glad you're doing so well with the change.

LOL...really?

Ummmm...good for you, I guess. I enjoy porn...and still don't objectify women...or men. I don't rape, pillage, murder or molest. It is purely entertainment. It's all about free-will...if you don't like it, don't watch or participate.
Personally, I hate religion...to me, it hijacks the brain and keeps people from thinking clearly. I don't lambaste you from going to church, even though I truly believe you're off your rocker. Guns don't make people murderers. Porn doesn't make people sick-o's.
Let's keep this in the vane of liberty, shall we? OK, America's foreign policies have created hatred toward us because we keep sticking our nose where it doesn't belong, right? You're doing the same thing right now. Just leave it alone...

I agree with. If someone has a problem, cant handle something, that is the case for them and them alone. No need to judge eveyone elses experience and life because they could handle/manage themselves or choose to do something you dont do. Unless it harms you, why care?

Porn is Sin

Enough of this "The devil made me do it" Flip Wilson stuff!

Porn is sin, like any other sin and we who are Christians are to have absolutely NOTHING to do with it!

Yes, the devil tempts everyone with many sinful things, but we have only ourselves to blame for yielding to the sinful desires of the flesh if we do.

We are to turn from our sins and turn to Christ for help in overcoming them if we truly are of God.

This whole world is a cesspool of wickedness, and porn is just another stench in the nostrils of Almighty God.

The great judgment is soon to come and I hope that maybe some here will turn from their sins of their love for the world and the things of the world, and turn to the Lord for forgiveness and salvation in Jesus name, for those who do these things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

porn...

has changed America. I'm nearly 40. was with the same woman for 12 yrs. after we split I started dating. women under 25 have changed dramatically. I blame the proliferation of porn for it. anything goes these days and it was shocking at first.

I personally believe its going to have long term negative effects on relationships and families. women love to please men and the boundaries keep getting pushed farther and farther out. I believe porn gives young women a twisted view of what satisfies men.

I don't hate porn but I can see first hand how it is affecting young peoples view of sex, relationships and intimacy.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

And the 'sexting' with young people. Girls I hardly know send

naked pics of themselves and think nothing of it, but if you were to share it online, they would have a fit. And I don't even ask for the pics or even have crushes on these girls. They just send them like it's a normal requirement now days. I think it's sad.

porn is a document, not necessarily the cause...

Porn is a reflection of increased sexual liberation in our society, made all the more attractive by all the religious nuts telling us that sex is bad, and certain body parts must be kept secret. Europe is far less puritanical than America, and porn isn't anywhere near the industry there that it is here. The best corollary I can think of is Prohibition, which actually increased alcohol consumption. I sincerely hope that you can be content to just not be a porn consumer, without trying to force the rest of us to follow suit.

Nearly 40 and trying to get at under 25 year olds LOL

Dude what do you expect for girls just out of high school or still in college. I find it funny that you are irritated at the "actions" of the women when you are practically dating teenagers...

A suggestion, why not date women your own age if you find those young ones too "wild".

right on..

I'm irritated? hardly. I found it surprising that young women are so much more adventurous than they were when I was young.

and for the record. my gf is a 22 yr old country girl. looks like Angelina Jolie, cooks, cleans and brings girls home.

the only thing irritating here is your dumb ass comment.
