AA 19-year-old has been shot dead by police after his father dialed 911 to report his truck stolen in order to teach his son a lesson for driving off to buy cigarettes.

Father James Comstock has been left devastated after a police officer shot and killed his teenage son Tyler.

Ames police say the teenager, from Boone, drove a stolen truck onto the Iowa State University campus on Monday, where student pedestrians dodged it to avoid being run over.

Patrol officer Adam McPherson fired six shots into the truck and the 19-year-old later died from two gunshot wounds.

Father James Comstock told The Des Moines Register on Tuesday: 'He took off with my truck. I call the police, and they kill him. It was over a damn pack of cigarettes. I wouldn’t buy him none.

Dude, do you have reading comprehension problems?

I said "the video that I posted above" was an escaped murderer.

You're right - nuff said.

Actually, it looks like you

Actually, it looks like you are the one with the reading comprehension problem. The poster you're arguing with seems to be saying that the cops in the video you posted knew that the driver was a murderer which is obviously worse than knowing the person they're chasing is a kid who took his own dad's vehicle to get some cigarettes. He is pointing out the huge apples to oranges comparison you made between the two scenarios.

& it looks like you just joined the club as well. The video I posted has absolutely NOTHING to do with comparing a murderer, or as you put it, a "kid" - BTW, 19 years old is considered an adult (spare me that argument). I see that it went WAY over your head as well.

THE POINT is that they BOTH took a BLATANT DISREGARD for human life for the sake of evading police - period. That was a choice they made of their OWN FREE WILL. Pulling over or "getting away", even if it meant recklessly endangering and taking innocent lives --- Hmmm.....guess which option they BOTH CHOSE? Nothing about apples to oranges here - don't know how much simpler I can make it for you.

I'll take

my chances, and will NEVER call the pigs for ANY reason.

When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign: that the dunces are all in confederacy against him. ~J. Swift

a man's private property was stolen,

and being used as a potential deadly weapon, yet you guys are definding the criminal. Now just because a dad was dumb enough to call the cops on his kid doesn't change the fact that from the police perspective, a citizens private property was stolen, and it was recklessly plowing through a college campus with the potential to kill people. That kid was driving a deadly weapon which he stole, and he was met with equal force to ensure he didn't kill anyone. The dispatchers didn't explain the entire situation, they just said, "We probably know the suspect, so you can back off a little". So what? That doesn't change the fact that the suspect stole a car and was being reckless with it. Were the police really supposed to just stop? They did slow way down early in the video, but did you all want them to just let the kid go because "We probably know the suspect"?

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).

My bet is....

....he wasn't driving reckless until the cops showed up.

Like the "reckless driving...oh wait....PLOWING through a college campus" bit. You should work for the MSM

If one of the college kids on the lawn had shot him.......

....you'd all be praising the rights of the citizens to defend themselves against a crazy person with a truck as a weapon. It seems the just because some of you hate cops, you forget how dangerous an automobile is. If you are going crazy in your car on the campus of a school, everyone in the area has the right to defend themselves with a fire arm. It sucks that this happened, and nobody deserved to die, but the cops did what they were supposed to, and what any citizen on that campus also had the right to do, to stop that kid from killing someone with his father's truck.

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).

Sorry Snake

I doubt anyone here HATES cops. We hate the sh** they do and consistently get away with killing people daily. Their job is to apprehend suspects to get their day in court. We are tired of the SOS, "the officer feared for his life BS" so he emptied his duty weapon into the "suspect". Drunks, med heads and nut jobs drive recklessly everyday. But should they pay the ultimate price? NO. I suppose your thinking is inclined to shoot every person suspected of using pencils, markers, paper clips, bicycles, etc as "deadly weapons"...

Would he....

...have been driving like that if the cops weren't chasing him?

It was a father calling the police to teach his kid a lesson. I would imagine he told them this. If he didn't, well, this is what happens.

But if he did....

We're getting to the point (for quite some time)where instead of wasting time ($), just take out the problem (whoever/whatever it is) so no need to spend time($) to resolve (Peace Officer) it.

This is absolutely ridiculous... watch the video.

The video clearly shows him evading and putting multiple people into serious danger of life and limb with his erratic and insane driving.

It's like asking a cop to scare a kid who stole a piece of candy and the kid pulls out a gun... the cop isn't supposed to stop the threat to themselves or others?

Law enforcement isn't to be used to teach anyone a lesson. The father took the risk when he called because he assumed his son wouldn't be a complete asshat and do what he did. The father created the dangerous situation and the son (RIP) is responsible for his own death when he started putting others lives in danger.

An ex-military police officer that understands the situation better than you.

uh, why didn't the cop pull him over when he first saw him?

.also i think the audio is out of sync with video

Some folks here just hate cops so much that they will excuse any criminal behavior just to be "right" about how bad they think cops are.

The kid earned his 2 pieces

The kid earned his 2 pieces of lead

How so

one of the stupid things people do is think a parent should just be respected or obeyed because they are older..
Think about the real world.

If you want to get someone respect not their fear you as a older person need to earn it.
Try being your kids friend!
If they are winning a argument it could be because they are right?

A kid that is a smoker has the strongest addiction in the world nicotine.

I feel sorry for the father, he was no doubt brainwashed in the military or had abusive parents.
So he wasn't given good parenting skills, try being friends with your kids.

And cops I think even the cops know what they have become.

Your right that kid was over the top.
Shooting him..
when you(law officer) thinks its a thief pretty hard to stop when your a Police-person for sure.

1. when the dispatcher said you could back off we know who it is.
2. at that point in the public safety didn't need to shoot or high speed.
3. and the call out where the other police had there weapons drawn was a shots fired call not we shot at the fleeing suspect, made it sound like the kid was shooting.

Point is who won?
Tax payers?
A cop?
The kid? (rather be dead than not smoke or talk to his dad)

Humans killing humans.
If that's what you like nice job.

I still stand by my first post.. as a parent with boys everyday I listen to them? and interact. so far so good.

and I was that broken do what I say ex-military person.

he deserved to be killed?

No I'm sorry you are delusional in that sort of thinking.

Imagine Ward Cleaver having a heart-to-heart

with Beaver and Wally, who - yes, against his better judgment - took the car without permission to go buy some soda pop. And Ward telling him that he was proud of Wally for fessing up, but (in addition to some minor punishment) to know that if there was ever a next time, well, to be warned that June and him would report the car stolen. And then Beaver frowning and asking if the police would chase Wally down and try to shoot him like he was a bank robber or something. And Ward shaking his head apologetically and saying, "I'm afraid so Beaver. But I'm sure Wally understands it would only be for his own good." [For those too young to remember, here's a clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULK_PNaS6d0 ] Was life always this crazy but we're just now hearing about it because of the internet? Or have values changed this radically?

I here by proclaim that I HATE All Pigs!
They are the enemy of the people.
They are the enforces of a sick and perverted small band of corporate bankster lunatics.
They are trained to treat us, the people, as enemy combatants.
Never call a PIG for ANYTHING, they will put you in jail or kill you.
As Larken Rose says in his important video, "When is it okay to kill a cop", "The police have one job to do, it's to escalate every situation to the point of you being caged, beaten or killed. It ALWAYS ends up in one of those situations" (sic)
I have a couple of friends who are retired RCMP and they are thoroughly disgusted with what is happening to the PIG forces nowadays. They hate PIGS as much as I do.

I Was Hesitant To Submit This Report..

There is just too much senseless murders in america..

It's so very sad..

God help America..

Seems the least qualified to possess a gun are the police.

More evidence.

I feel so bad for the surviving family.

The father and son never had a chance to make up, the last memory of the father was this tiff with his beloved son. How tragic. How senseless.

If it was a case of a trigger-happy officer, I hope justice is served. And may God comfort the family who lost their loved one.

Invite police into your personal business. They only know how to beat and murder people. I truly believe these are the only skills they teach in the academy.

I'd rather have a bottle in front o' me than a frontal lobotomy

Lesson....don't call the police

Even if I'm being robbed at gunpoint, I think I'd rather take my chances with the robber.

At least a robber has to worry about being held accountable if he murders someone.

Common sense coming from the

Common sense coming from the dispatchers - "we know the suspect so we can back off" and "if he's that reckless coming up on the college we should back off", but disobey a cop - that's a death sentence in our 21st century police state and most of our brain dead citizenry will side with the cops.
