Why the Libertarian Party is trying to make Excuses for Sarvis and giving us a Socialist

I call bullshit, The Liberatarian Party and it's ilk pushing a pile of garbage called Sarvis, a globalist, open border liberal who could care less about the Constitution just like the rest of the extreme end of the Libertarian Party. Bottom line is that those extreme members of the LP dont give a damn about the Constitution or the Unitted States of America, they care about an ideology that pushes no form government that has anything to do with Nation states. I have met with these people over the course of 20 years and that's the bottom line, they want a collapse of the United States, they want a collapse of our economic system, they don't want to follow a Constitutional form of government.

Those that walked door to door to push a person like Sarvis in my opinion failed the State of Virginia and in the long run the United States. Now it will be that much easier to steal elections in the future, including the 2016 Presidential race.

The Libertarian Party is dead to me, I will actively push to destroy it in my area, it's there for one purpose and one purpose only, give elections to socialists, which in the end will result in the collapse of the United States.

No Thanks

Joe in MO. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Your presumption that Libertarian votes are stolen from Republicans is wrong.

Wrong. And I had access to LPI member voting data for over 20 years.

Now apologize and be nice ;)

I tend to agree. Why didn't

I tend to agree. Why didn't the libertarian party recognize that the Republican candidate was good and drop their candidate and support the Republican candidate. Principle over party. Looks like the LP needs to learn that lesson also.

Each state has it's own, autonomous LP + a separate Nat. party

Sierrahpbt- You can't seriously tell me that you know how a candidate is going be after they get into office.

LP state candidates seek the nomination and the candidate is elected by the party faithful at a convention. In the state I'm familiar with, there is no provision to remove an elected nominee.

Of the million Republican candidates over the last 30 years, how many have been awesome? ONE. Exactly one.

I know absolutely nothing, zip, zero, about either of these candidates, but a Republican lecturing the LP people about principles caught my eye.

How quickly people forget

How quickly people forget that many of the Sarvis independents, moderates, and libertarians also voted for Ron Paul.

And now we're apparently f***ing communists to the OP. That sounds like George W. Bush thought processing - "You're either with us or with the terrorists".

Yea because f***ing nuance doesn't exist and we're all just paid hacks trolling message boards all day.

The notion that any Libertarian Candidate running is costing the election of a "liberty" candidate is absolute crap. It is the same crap that was used against Ron Paul. It is a tactic that sets out to continue the exact same crap we have seen for decades. Instead, consider that the Libertarian candidates are forcing the GOP to remain true to some of its principles, for example, fiscal responsibility. If they do not, then they will lose a chunk of the votes, fiscal libertarians. If the democrats stray to far from their principles, personal freedoms, then the democrats will also lose part of their electorates to social libertarians.

Accept that many Libertarians do not vote for the GOP because they do not see eye to eye on the social issues. The only GOP candidate that I have ever voted for was Ron Paul and that was solely because he is smart enough to separate his personal beliefs from his political principles.

According to the OP

Sarvis is both a...

socialist (i.e. wants a government-controlled economy)
anarchist (i.e. wants no government at all)

coffee_sponge's picture

Many socialists use anarchy as a means to attain socialism

Anarchy is inherently unstable. When the existing order breaks down, it creates a vacuum. History repeatedly shows us that tyranny rushes in to fill the vacuum.

If you want totalitarian government, the quickest way to get it is to foment anarchy.

While your mechanism is

While your mechanism is theoretically possible, look around the world. The way that totalitarianism actually comes about is by increasing the powers of the state.

Agree w/ OP

I'm 100% done with the "L"ibertarian party after deliberately costing us a liberty election in VA.

Did you give up on poontang because you got crabs? Hell no!

You have no idea the value the LP has. For decades Libertarians have been waging the good fight before 99% of the public knew what a Libertarian was.

The Libertarian Party, to great extent, kept the freedom movement alive as a result of huge outlays of personal time and money spread out over years and years. Not on a keyboard with a send key, but door to door. Petition drives to obtain millions and millions of signatures.
County fair outreaches, parades, pamphleteering, Letter to the Editor campaigns.

Please research and reconsider.

Yea, and as big of losers as they were they still got a hell of a lot more than your whopping wannabee socialist Mr. 7% Bwaaaaahahahahaha
Face is soy-sauce, your 7% was only good for screwing yourself and the rest of the like minded people around you. What have you got now ? 8 more years of misery under the rule of one Hillary Clinton. We see your chaos served somebody well but it certainly wasn't you or us was it ? Hey, at least you were good for something right? Whatever makes you 'feel' better i guess...

I hope you didn't vote for

I hope you didn't vote for Ron Paul either becuase... (SPOILER ALERT) he lost too!

Sure i voted for Paul and i

Sure i voted for Paul and i will vote for his son as well unlike some of these confused souls claiming to be Libertarians running around in here voting for socialist like Sarvis and begging socialist Jessie Ventura to step up so they will have a chance at spoiling Rands chances... You people need to freaking grow up and realize you cant have it all in one candidate or one election cycle. You go with who can get you the closest to your goals at the present moment and work for more from there. It took years to get in this mess, it will take years to get out of it. You act like a bunch of spoiled little kids with nothing to lose allowing a few social issues to trump the big picture. Your your own worst enemies !
Ron Paul tried to shoot straight with you for this election and instead you failed yourselves and everybody else around you. How many more years of Democrats and Neocons do you think this country can stand ?

What you call a "few social

What you call a "few social issues" is quite a big deal to a lot of people here. Clearly, you couldn't care less about them, but I personally wouldn't want to live in a world that's fiscally responsible but wages a war against sodomy and what Cuccinelli himself calls a "pro-sex agenda".

Different priorities, different candidate.

Do 'splain how Jesse Ventura is a Socialist.

I didn't understand how he supported light rail in Minnesota. What else have you got?

I will continue to work in

I will continue to work in the Libertarian party. After watching British politics for a couple years now and seeing the way UKIP had changed the discussion, its been fantastic. The problem is not the libertarian party. The problem is the Republican party, man up and take it. This is politics... it is their problem if we take votes away from them. However, we take just as many votes away from the democrats. Yes, the Constitution has failed... stop proving it by talking about it all the time. If you look deeply at the history of the convention it clearly was not divinely inspired and the Articles of Confederation was actually better.

By shutting out minority parties you now cause a problem of letting the 3rd largest party to be taken over by liberals.

If the libertarian party was given a fair shot. We would have the funding to vet candidates all across the nation. However, since we are scraping by this political weapon of funding the third party will be vicious. The GOP is dead. I will not give in on my social issues to grow a party of oppression.

UKIP anti gay marriage

Would give them civil partnerships.
I don't think you understood who the OP was referring to. There's a sub-'L'ibertarian class posting here whose 'social' values are akin to the Cultural Marxists. I have no use for such entities, either.

Don't worry about actively working to do it.

They do it to themselves rather nicely. For as bad as GOP meetings can be, go to a couple of LP meetings if you have time to burn.

For me, I do what Ron Paul said. Take over the GOP. It works, when you show up.

If you can't stand the GOP meetings, bring a newspaper or something, just be there so you know when the upcoming county or state meetings and races are. And bring some like minded friends, so you can advance each other to the next levels up.

Broward County GOP

...has no monthly meetings anymore. so much for liberty

Label Jars, Not People!

Are they officially organized?

If not, check your state law. Organization of county political committees is explicitly discussed in all state revised statutes I've ever seen. It may even state if they haven't met in X months, that they may be reorganized.

If that's the case in FL, then if you organizes yourselves first, you could organize the committee and install yourselves (at least for the first cycle) as the exec committee.

Yes they are

and only meet every 6 months!

Label Jars, Not People!

That gives you LOADS of time....

....to find like-minded people and organize transportation to get them all to the meeting!

No time like the present!

I wish you luck

Though you seem to be taking over a party that fails to fund its own gubernatorial candidates, and whose campaign managers keep their balls in a box, having them hide from the shutdown and Ted Cruz and only wake up when the failure of Obamacare is in the news, following not leading the charge against it.

You "L"ibertarians trying to project on to other libertarians opinions of the coming collapse is ridiculous, stupid and divisive. We are going to need each other more then ever in the coming years, and you people want to bicker over nonsense. No one here caused this. We all supported RP cause we believed he was the last shot at saving this country. But after experiencing the last 2 elections cycles, you should have learned better that this system is far to corrupt and broken to be saved.

Regardless of who thinks what, the writing is on the wall. 17 trillion and counting. No reduction in any militarization around the world. No reduction in any spending domestically and endless money printing. The damage is done. The bridges and friendships with others stressed beyond trust. Its already set in motion. If you can't see that, then I feel sorry for you.

What's strange is,

intellectually, I agree with you, but, in my heart, I am still hoping for some deus ex machina event.
