Why do you Christians always throw the Bible in my face?

Why do you Christians always throw the Bible in my face?

Seriously, it hurts. Stop it, will ya? Yesterday I walked by a church and the pastor barreled out of the door, ran into the street, screamed “BIBLE!” and chucked it right at my head.

Well, that didn’t LITERALLY happen. But he did say, “good afternoon, God bless,” which is basically the same thing.

In any case, Christians are always shoving their religion in people’s faces. Everything they say, every position they hold, every thought they express — it’s all RELIGION. Even if they don’t explicitly say, “I think this because of my religion,” we all know the score. If it comes from RELIGION, as a secularist, I must hate it. If it’s been heavily influenced or transformed by RELIGION or RELIGIOUS people, I must hate it. That’s why I’m not a big fan of art, architecture, democracy, science, medicine, philosophy, astronomy, the university system, the abolition of slavery, America, Natural Law, Natural Rights, mathematics, the justice system, literature, music, and civilization.

Edit: I'm not sure why DPers don't get this--but this blog is satire. It's Matt Walsh's way. :)

I think (but not too much)

That we should stop posting religious topics on the Daily Paul. We've had all the battles. Only God and His Gospel can change hearts and we don't present it here. We just fight the social battles. What we believe the Scripture says is foolishness to the Greeks. You can't convince the Greek of something being logical that the scripture says is foolishness to them. It's not an intellectual battle and we're not fighting spiritually. Let's end this. It's a bad witness. Just my opinion not a mandate.

I do respect your opinion. However, as a stay at home mom,

I love having the internet to witness to people through. I then pray for the people I've "talked" to, and I know God will do the rest.

how traumatic for you.

Wish you a speedy recovery.

donvino

calm down

Seriously. Think of "God bless" as "I hope the best for you". Try to think from their perspective.
Calm down :)

Why do I throw the bible in your face you say?

There's other places I could throw it, but most of the time it causes even more damage. However, given that you're a controversial CHICK, it might not hurt too much. (sarcasm should be obvious, but just in case)

Next time some pastor gives

Next time some pastor gives you the "God Bless" just smile back, flip up the heavy metal symbol and reply "Hail Satan!", that'll shut up em.

You realize

how stupid that comment is? If you don't believe in God, then you don't believe in Satan. So by saying that.. sure makes you look stupid.

And if you did believe in Satan.. why would you praise some one who is known to be the bad guy? It makes no sense to me.

Also it is childish.

Yeah. What he said.

Especially if you have hilariphobia.

Why is a historical text

chastised?

I doubt anyone has hurt you with a bible, but it's likely it's truth has caused you problems.

Study the Inquisition, that is what you are supporting. ;)

Historical text...

you crack me up! LOL

I understand that the OP is a satire, but I agree with it. I seem to be constantly assailed by Christians and their book. If they want to believe it, that's fine...do it at home! It simply isn't something that everyone wants to 'buy'...so, stop trying to sell it!

Dear.

wowf!

Satirical though it may be, it is making a HUGE statement

regarding Christianity and the Bible.

If people had bothered to read before commenting, surely they could have seen this.

There are many here who judge

There are many here who judge a book by it's cover.

Hey Bulldog!

yes, and making huge statements is also controversial. ;)

this section is reserved. it is for people of a common faith to gather. that is why it was created in the first place.

I remember it's creation. it was suggested that a private place be set up. for people of a particular faith to gather unmolested.

I could be wrong you know.... but that is how I remember it.
personally, I Love discussions about the subject.
woof!

Why the hate?

Being a Christian to me, brings peace in my life. It makes me a better person. I am friends with atheists. Agnostics too! I listen to their theories, agree to disagree. No hate involved. But it sure seems like you hate people who are trying to help. Maybe the pastor thought you were upset or down on yourself? You get mad at Christians for pushing their bible on you but what about the rest of the world pushing everything else on us? That's ok? We should all have the freedom to say what we want without some one getting all butt hurt about it. If you had such a problem you could have manned up and said, " No sir, I don't need the Bible today" and left.

Everyone is born hating God...

and only a few stop hating him before they die. I'd advise you also to pay heed to the mistake of "casting pearls before swine". Being friendly with others is good, but giving them an opportunity to get under your skin like this does little good.

It's sales 101....

...if you don't like it, don't buy it. But you're never going to get salespeople to stop asking you to buy. It's the same thing for anyone selling anything, why do you single out Christians?

An interesting site about Primordial Soup. How or who created this as a prerequisite?

For the chuckle this morning. I was just looking for this reply, It appears I posted it to the wrong thread. It was meant to go in the "Church of England accepts evolution" thread, lol

I have a Bible with a sterling silver cover

if thrown, it could hurt somebody, but I might not get it back.

I personally find it annoying when Hawaiian tour guides constantly say "aloha" and "mahalo." Keep your island shtick to yourself, bus driver. But when you're in Hawaii it goes with the territory. As with Bible talk, when you're on planet Earth, belief in God pretty much goes with the territory. You're in the minority even though our atheist MSM would have you believe differently.

It's tough to be a bigot these days.

Now instead of Christians, say Jews, Muslims, Blacks, Gays, Handicapped, and many other people that would be offended with your bigotry. I hate Gamers, and their stupid games, and people who watch football, and mindless entertainment in and of itself, but I'm not writing a bigoted blog about it. Change your name to Bigoted Blogger. That would be honest in the least.

When did common sense become a super power? –Patrick F. Holman

I Like it

I like his writing style

seems to me the Pastor

wanted so badly to see the man he gave the Bible to on the other side when its over. I can't claim that this Pastor was doing it for his own salvation, as a Christian, one of our duties is to bring others to the Kingdom. If said pastor's intentions were of good then it is ok, if the pastor's intentions were for his own Heavenly benefits, than the Pastor is out of line. God sorts those kind of things out, regardless of intentions of the perpetrator.

I respectfully submit a query.

is it possible to quantify the word 'Christian"
please note, the upper case C.

I have not been able to find a common denominator.
