Where Is The All Powerful Police State U.S.A. When The Typhoon Victims Need Help?

Where is the multitrillion dollar, policeman apparatus, of the world when you need it?
How about NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization that's always at the ready to 'intervene'?
When it's a bombing mission, they send billions, but when it's life saving they just 'pledge' millions.
I wonder if Michelle Obama is "proud of America" now?
Why didn't the all-knowing, all-seeing, NSA tip us off on where we needed to go and what we needed to do in the aftermath of the biggest storm to ever hit land anywhere in the world?
What?
There's no money in helping the little brown people of the Philippines?
They only have a couple of C-130's that can evacuate a few hundred out of the thousands of people desperate and dying in the storm ravaged, country.
I guess America is only good at blowing countries up, with taxpayer funded bombs and missiles.
I guess the politically connected, campaign bundling, private corporations, don't see any way to skim taxpayer money off of relief efforts over there!
I guess nobody lobbied Barack Obama to get on board with a good photo-op for the people to see.

2 Planes, 3,000 People: Misery in Typhoon-Hit City
TACLOBAN, Philippines November 11, 2013 (AP)
When two Philippine Air Force C-130s arrived at the typhoon-wrecked airport here just after dawn Tuesday, more than 3,000 people who had camped out hoping to escape the devastation surged onto the tarmac past a broken iron fence. Only a few hundred made it aboard; the rest were left in a shattered, rain-lashed city short of food and water and littered with uncounted bodies.

Just a dozen soldiers and several police held the crowd back. Mothers raised their babies high above their heads in the rain, in hopes of being prioritized. One woman in her 30s lay on a stretcher, shaking uncontrollably.

"I was pleading with the soldiers. I was kneeling and begging because I have diabetes," said Helen Cordial, whose house was destroyed in the storm. "Do they want me to die in this airport? They are stone-hearted."

"We need help. Nothing is happening," said Aristone Balute, an 81-year-old who also didn't get a flight. "We haven't eaten since yesterday afternoon." Her clothes were soaked from the rain, and tears streamed down her face.

They have an Aquino III

as their criminal and chief . That explains it. Their ruling class is the same as ours. They just never seem to go away.

The US only has money for murder, death...

and destruction.

These "little brown people" mean nothing to them.

There is no aid for anyone now, only for Nazi, jack-booted thugs and bullets against the citizens, aka "terrorists" by the imperialists.

Imperialists = those nameless bureaucrats that write our hidden laws and serve two countries (the least of which is America).

If you don't believe the assertion that its YOU/WE against the new world order imperialists who run this country, stand by. Soon, you/we will be the hopeless, begging in the street, and defending our homes and lives.

Do you think I paint a grim picture? Place yourself in the Philippines right now. New Orleans post Katrina or the NE post Sandy should all be vivid reminders.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the island, Dancing with the Stars had major "drama" last night and a marital tryst with a murder is all the rage on GMA. We live in a sad world.

unfortunately, I agree with you--

Even the lack of concern here

on the DP for this event displays no care or compassion for fellow humanity, The future is dim. Thanks for caring B-trader.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

I do think that people on DP are . . .

individuals; I know that I give privately--

but I always appreciate it when anyone posts a plea for help--

I like to be kept aware of what is happening, even when/if it is terribly overwhelming--

It IS pretty sad when a lazy

self centered person like me is even appalled at the incompetent response of this country.

The Virtue of Selfishness, by Ayn Rand...

comes to mind.

Your attitude is not a terrible thing.

I would disagree that you are lazy. Like me, I am sure you have things you never put off. Things like going to work and supporting your family often get overlooked in this hustling, bustling, push button world.

I smoke

I don't exercise.
And last night my wife and I impulsively ran out to the Waffle House for a 12 am breakfast!

I think you are mistaken

I have seen you care here before my friend. But I do have to wonder about society in general. I highly question the premise and ideal that society can be forced into becoming Self responsible, Caring, Courteous and Compassionate. I fear it is a pipe dream.

I don't know ATP

I believe if you were in the grocery store and you saw an elderly person stumble and fall a few feet away from you it would be reflex for you to reach down and help them up.

It's reflex for us to do something in such an obvious circumstance.
We have the most advanced weather intelligence.
We knew what was coming.
Did we "pre-position" like we "pre-position" for war?

You are right about...

"pre-positioning", They saw it coming days before and absolutely could have been ready to help. As for the elderly person in the store, I think if a person had only 1 gallon glass jars full of pickles, one under each arm, They would not reach out to help and would chose the jars over compassion. I think there is a natural priority instinct to protect ones assets before reaching out to others when given a situation of ultimatum.

asian readers

Maybe reader from the Philippines can give the names of worthy aid organization. Or if maybe the names of US Philippino groups who can deliver aid. I have heard to many stories of aid given to big orgs like the Red Cross not actually getting to street level.

The USG is dedicated to less people on the planet period. Especially if they are humble and peaceful. You are better off not being "helped" by the US military.

Vickie

Unfortunately seeing first hand disasters

The Red Cross only serves to collect money and pay its shareholders who consist of the same government legislators that make it impossible for others to effectively help. This is done by only allowing Red Cross access and stringing up red tape for the rest.

I encourage you to speak with the local church communities. In my experience these organizations are very much linked and have missions on the ground in country. They have found ways around the bureaucratic non sense and must be taken seriously. They have found ways to get it done.

another opinion

FYI: A local liberty lover and politico, who happens to be Phlilipino said that the Phillipines RC is Okay. I gave them a small donation to get things started. I'll wait before I give more until I find out about who is doing it for real and who is pretending. But yes Dexter, I have heard unflattering things about US Red cross chapters.

We had a tornado rip through my town a couple years ago. While the Red Cross got all the press and filled there coffers with money from people looking to assist, the people who were actually on the ground digging people out we're begging for anything they could get to help clean things up. The money went to general fund and they left a guy in a wagon with bottled water.

I will let you know what my network says about best and most effective organizations in that region if you are looking to help.

Thanks

And I will do likewise if I hear about good local organizations that are getting things done.

Which organizations were most helpful to you after the tornado struck?

Vickie

I upvoted you--

private people, like me, need information on how to help--

when it came to Haiti and Katrina, I donated money to a religious humanitarian fund I trusted--

I'll probably do the same with the Philipines, but PLEASE, anyone, give *us* information!!!
