Peace Through Strength...

And NO to Hillary! He is not backing down in standing against her and her unsuitability to hold high office ever again. Wow!

No one in the GOP is in a position to touch him and his command of the facts, the circumstances and proper moral stance on so many issues. He's brilliant! Just my opinion but it sure is fun to watch him.

We have ourselves a candidate for president!

Sweet Liberty

Proper moral stance?

Command of the facts, sure. Brilliance, yes. But "proper moral stance"? He recognizes that small wars lead to big wars, but then supports sanctions against Iran that Ron Paul called "literally an act of war." He talks about foreign policy based on our national defense, but then he uses neocon BS to declare Iran a threat to the world in order to rationalize our meddling there as being somehow about our own defense. He'd stop some foreign aid, but not foreign aid to Israel because he says they're a friend who has never left our side. He thinks it's great that we have the strongest military in the world, and he promises to trim some waste (as every candidate promises) but also promises to "modernize and strengthen our military."

These are promises designed to please neocons. His positions are more nuanced than those of a full-fledged neocon, but how are you calling any of this a "proper moral stance"?

With lots of footnotes. :-)

About Israel:

Amidst the chaos of the Middle East we have always had one friend that never leaves our side-Israel. As an ally, Israel has never wavered. One thing you can know for sure is you will never see an Israeli burning the American flag.

The context about flag burning is explaining foreign aid. "In Egypt and Pakistan, they riot and burn our flag. I say not one penny more to any nation that burns our flag."

He's in favor of the US having the strongest military on the planet.

Someone commented below that Ron Paul could never have made this speech, and that's certainly true.

But if Rand is willing to commit to continuing foreign aid to Israel, commit to the sanctions against Iran that Ron Paul called "literally an act of war," commit to making our military the strongest on the planet, commit to new weapons programs ("a plan to modernize our military, and strengthen our defenses"), and commit to using military force "when necessary," he won't be the first choice of the neocons but they'll at least find him acceptable in a way that his father wasn't.

It's Clear Rand Could Be Elected President

Obviously it's no sleight on him to say so, but Ron Paul could have never made this speech.

Much better than that.
