Holodomor - extermination by starvation; listen Saturday

Mass starvation of the Ukrainian people -- intentional Policy by Stalin, or yet another tragic example of central economic blundering?
Listen Saturday:
Government exists to serve the people. However, during the time of Joseph Stalin’s Holodomor, government served the people death. That time leads us to ask…

Why did Stalin’s government starve millions to death?

This Saturday at 9am Pacific, the Food Chain Radio show with Michael Olson hosts Professor Walter Zaryckyj for a conversation about Stalin’s Holodomor (“extermination by hunger”).

Topics include how Stalin’s government took control of the Ukraine’s food; how that government managed to withhold the food from the people who grew the food; and whether the starving to death of millions was an accident of policy or willful intent.

I read "Harvest of Sorrow", and let me tell you, the ends don't justify the means.

Southern Agrarian

extermination by starvation is nothing new

Ireland had net EXPORTS of food during the famine.

It was the policies of the British that lead to the the famine -not the failure of the potato. But just look at the mind set - the Irish were thought to be neanderthals, second class(or third or fourth) citizens. So not only do you get to plunder them - you get to rid them from the earth.

I am quite sure Stalin did the same.

Not sure why this

would be down voted but read a little about that time and it was awful for the people and terrible suffering. Hard to imagine what kind of person would do that to so many of his own people or any people.
