Liberal writer calls Daily Paul, Infowars part of a Billion Dollar Libertarian Media Empire

The funny thing is, he really believes that, and for good reason too. The establishment thinks every person reached is a certain dollar spent. They see the Daily Paul and our libertarian outlets getting massive amounts of visitors, so they assume we are spending massive amounts of money. I loved in For Liberty, Michael showed the DP headquarters... in his kitchen nook.

The article is a little nauseating to read through, but to me it is an unintended compliment to our movement. It's very clear he doesn't understand us at all. He even says, "Any traction they’ve achieved has little to do with these 'ideas'..." What?! I would say all of the traction we've gained has to do with the ideas.

I love the conclusion too, "If we simply let them win, these fanatics might learn the hard way how reliant they are on the state — possibly after they contract e coli from un-inspected beef. That would be a lovely irony to watch, if it didn’t come at too high a price. " Yeah, because the government never allows E. Coli to break out. And what part of our ideas says no one would inspect meat? Are we just stupid, and decide to eat anything because the government is not there to tell us what's good and what's bad.

"bite off the hand that feeds (us) caviar"?

and that hand is theirs? (the bit at the very end of the article)

Like that guy ever wrestled a sturgeon..
I'd love to know what, if anything that he ever produced...

A bit ironic that just below that article there was a link to
this one:

seriously are they that stupid? We don't care if you like government or not it's that we would like the freedom to choose to opt out.

You can have someone, .i.e. government, force you to take care of you but I would prefer to make a choice as to who does and certainly not the government who wastes taxes and is bribed by the corporations.

Why do they hang on to such bad ideas so much?

* now if you don't mind I'm going to wade around in my bath of mwaillions of fed dollars..

Let's do this!

Let's pool our fortunes and build factories in lawless Montana. We'll chain kids to machines and produce meat from animals disemboweled in bear baiting arenas. We won't even have to refrigerate it because we're libertarians! Everyone will buy from us because we'll be the cheapest.

Defend Liberty!

Well, he got one thing right.

Looks like he isn't old enough to remember 1993 when Jack in the Box had an e coli outbreak even with all the glorious govt inspectors working round he clock to keep us safe.

daily paul is not

daily paul is not libertarian.

Thankfully there are Some people here that are libertarian but the majority are the same statists in the republican/democrat parties that support the wars, giant military and other spending. Unforunately.

And the writer isn't "liberal". The writer is a socialist. There's a difference.

1) "daily paul is not libertarian"

I understand that a wide mix of ideologies (ex. anarchist, Constitutionalist, [I use the term Dignitarian for my own philosophy]) participate here, but I can also accept Libertarian as the most encompassing political designation. I'm curious what you think qualifies as 'true' Libertarian?

2) "the majority are the same statists in the republican/democrat parties that support the wars, giant military and other spending"

I happen to individually disagree with the above platforms

but I'd like to see statistical proof that they are a majority view here, please.
Otherwise I remain a skeptic of your claim

The new smear campaign: Property rights are a sin?

There is a fear that hard-working men an women will reject the government's enslaving orders and seek liberty.

So they smear, hoping the working man will be jealous of liberty minded folk.

Alas, for the free press enslaved. Remember they are free to deceive.

Let the buyer be wary.

If one liberty lover leaves two free from labels, and so on, the chain reaction could explode all the deceptions.

Leaving another free of my own prejudice is easier closer to home. It often becomes impossible when cultures are crossed.

Is the risk to liberty an opportunity lost?

Free includes debt-free!

The Daily Paul is not enormous. It's merely huge.

So the multi-trillion dollar empire of bullshit and violence is feeling threatened by a mere billion dollar empire of volunteers and good samaritans... How could that be possible when the trillions are spent so wisely?

Unlike the $105 Trillion that Congress is liable for.

DP is cash based, private property.

Free includes debt-free!

Well....

I probably have 1/4th or 1/8th Libertarian in my blood. Having ancestors breeding in this melting-pot country for so long, it's hard to claim purebredness.

their needs to be like a way

their needs to be like a campaign to deal with these people.

How about a piss on their leg leaving the urinal campaign? Have a 5 second video from behind to see the reaction. And leave it at that.

And expose the Liberal Spin Doctors one at a time.

Be Your Own Media!!!

Michael Nystrom's picture

Sadly, that article was worthless

There was no substance to it.

A billion dollar empire?

I don't think I could get a million on the free market for the DP.

Not even $100K.

That is ok. Some things cannot be measured in fiat dollars.

The value of the Daily Paul?

Priceless.

But the other sad thing? That PolicyMic article was shared on facebook 51K times.

All art is only done by the individual. The individual is all you ever have, and all schools only serve to classify their members as failures. E.H.

Not fully worthless

Have you seen the comments? They tear the guy apart.

I like that he tries to explain us to his liberal friends, and has not a clue what he's taking about. It's to our benefit to use that thinking to our advantage. Sun Tzu said, "When you're weak, appear strong. When you're strong, appear weak."

I'm not sure if we're weak in that we don't have a ton of funding, or strong, in that we can easily compete with the state sponsored media. But either way, if they think we're a Billion dollar media empire. That's a self deception that works to our favor.

PS, this post is most read for the passed 24hrs. I got 50 up votes? For an article bashing libertarians. Good to see my take on it still vibes on here. Michael you can make the check out to PTPete25, oh, and I might need to borrow the DP chopper soon too. So keep the schedule open.

"Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito."

Absolutely priceless

A testament to one man that reached out at the right time and turned the handle to open the door and reveal the Liberty on the other side.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

I take criticisms of

I take criticisms of libertarianism very seriously. In fact, I have plenty of my own.

But there isn't any critical substance to what this guy has written, so it's nothing worth replying to. All it is is a bunch of assertions and non-falsifiable claims.

The enemy within

Is it still not clear to people who the real enemy of America is?...

Liberals

i believe this website

i believe this website generates a lot more money than it did 4 years ago. There something like 100,000 visitors a day

Going down the rabbit hole?

The Libertarian principles make far more sense. I didn't feel like I was going down a rabbit hole.

The only time I feel this way is when I'm trying to understand the left or right explanations. These authors have such a great job. Spew bullshit, get paid, repeat...

"Any traction they’ve

"Any traction they’ve achieved has little to do with these 'ideas'..." What?! I would say all of the traction we've gained has to do with the ideas."

It is the soul and purpose of why i am here, these ideas helped us find eachother, we are here BECAUSE of these ideas, a way of thinking that has persisted in our lives, and then finding out "wait a minute, so im not alone in these thoughts"
They will NEVER take that away, they can try, but then they would show ignorance, and NO UNDERSTANDING of what brings us together, i am angry at their attempt out of malice or ignorance, and at the same time bemused that they dont realise how strong this "movement" is, in our hearts and in our minds

They, to me, are no more, then folks seeking attention, belittling something they dont want, and not realising it is not up to them, this thing has a mind and soul of its own, and like liberty, it will choose its own path

As time goes on, i ignore the naysayers attempt to slander, most of the time, because this is not about them, or us even, its about the natural rights of the individual, that no one shall have more right over another......in translating our NATURAL rights so well, it is about our lives, our liberties and our pursuit of a happy life

Yippee! Here's where Daily Paul gets some real press!

"The new libertarians aren’t just trolling message boards in study hall: They're adults. They rally, they blog, they cast votes — most important, they invest hordes of time and money in their cause, from money bombs for fringe political candidates, to building a billion-dollar media empire out of outlets like The Blaze, InfoWars, The Daily Paul, and the Cato Journal. As much as it strains credulity to realize it, Reason Magazine is written by grown-ups. They have influence, and whether or not we take them seriously, they are absolutely serious."

Yay - they talked about us in the news!

Yay! They talked about us!

There is no such thing as bad publicity.

Freedom is my Worship Word!

You see when (respectfully)

You see when (respectfully) "they" speak like this, its as if they are trying to rally support for their side to counter our own......the one thing i dont mind, is if everysingle one of them came to that decision by themselves without outside interference, in the vain of political ads, or a sense of stupid old guard party servitude, if like us, they are brought together individually, finding eachother out based on their HONEST believes, rather then what a million dollar advertisement or narrated news segment tells them to think, then yeah, i wouldnt mind a debate with folks like that, to either better understand our views and find common ground

But pathetic attempts to rally from the top down, with the moral message of "winning" vs the ground up believers of their cause....i wouldnt want to comment on the unknowing result, but i can reasonably attest to one sides "endurance", a generational one, if you look for it in our histories

Enough said...

You just have to quote the opening paragraph -

"With its five syllables, iambic stress, and three open vowels, there's something so satisfying about saying "libertarian." It's a beautiful word, elegant and old-school, with phonetic roots like quill-penned pamphleteers. Its terpsichorean click of complicated consonants rolls off the tongue with gratifying ease, and a stoic sense of moral certitude is almost palpable in the sound. It carries the ring of anachronistic heroism, better suited to the hills of Port-au-Prince or revolutionary Spain than here or now."

What a completely condescending cacophony of ca-ca.

It goes on from there but to no avail - the comments are overwhelmingly against the author.

Sadly dies the state.

Well that is just great

Because I personally have always wanted to be affluent. And I am sure Michael doesn't mind being a billionaire either. Wonderful news.
