Obama Gives Away Untold Amounts Of Money To Philippines ($37 million so far)...Where Is The Authority?

There IS no authority in the U.S. Constitution for a president to give away ONE PENNY or even ONE FRACTION of a penny to ANY country for ANY reason.

This includes of course, not only foreign aid, but also aid for natural disasters.

Natural disasters occur EVERY DAY somewhere around the world. So WHERE does it end? Why shouldn't we help EVERYONE if we are going to help anyone?

But beside all that, the point is that FORCED giving by a government from the treasury is NOT CHARITY - it is THEFT from the taxpayers.

Call me a mean person, but it's not true. I have given to charities all my life when I'm able.

All I'm saying is that the government has succeeded in making Americans believe that THEFT from them is CHARITY.

And...how many AMERICANS are living on the street or in squalor? Maybe THEY should get this money first - after all, many of them did (or are) pay taxes at some point in their lives.

One other small detail; Where did Obama get all this money to give away? I thought we were BROKE! I thought we were 16 TRILLION in debt.

Now at $20 MILLION in U.S. AID...

Hey guys I just want to let

Hey guys I just want to let you know I hacked your personal data and got a new Amex card with unlimited credit in your name. I racked up about $10,000 in debt and am going to wire it to the Philippean government to help them out.

Dont worry about making the interest payments, Ill give have the bank garnish your wages as a payroll deduction and if you ask nicely they will give you a little back at the end of the year as part of their points program...

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

Not yours to give!

Great reply Undeclared Wars...I should have referenced that...

...story about Davy Crocket in my original post because this is EXACTLY my point.

It is NOT theirs to give. Every young American student should be made aware of that story in their civics class.

Oh I forgot - there are no civics classes anymore.

But thanks a ton for pointing out that Crocket story.

It's the essence of what the founders had in mind for a limited government in a free society.

If our government through the years had adhered to that lesson, we would still be a free society today.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

You're welcome but....

I learned that tidbit (a long time ago) from the late, great Barefoot Bob. Look his page up.

It's now up to 37 Mil...and growing. Again I ask: WHERE...

...IS THE AUTHORITY IN THE U.S. CONSTITUTION???

So many conservatives hate

So many conservatives hate earmarks, but this is an example of exactly why they are important. All spending is to originate in the House and our Representatives should make sure that every bit of money is earmarked for specific purposes. If they do not earmark the money then it goes to the Executive Branch where they can spend it as they see fit (such as giving it away to other countries).

It's very odd how our political leaders love taxing us in order to give our hard earned money to other people around the world, all the while we have plenty of our own people who could use that help (but are denied it). I'm not saying that I support the gov forcefully taking from one group of people to give to another (there is no such thing as government "charity"), but if it has to happen the least they could do is take care of America first.

Not to mention billions sent

Not to mention billions sent into war zones on pallets to bribe and pay off locals for political reasons and for killed relatives and loved ones.

I'm 100% in favor of individuals, families, organizations and businesses sending relief money and donations to the Philippines, but you're right... there IS no authority for government to sent OUR stolen tax money to others.

A lot of that pallet bribe

A lot of that pallet bribe money is probably just a simple way to steal it. Because a very significant portion of that money somehow, conveniently, goes missing. It's kind of ironic that the gov doesn't care much when money like that is "lost" or the $2T that Rumsfeld reported missing just prior to 9/11... yet, if you forget something simple on your taxes or claim the wrong kind of lightbulb as a business expense they will spend any amount of resources necessary to crush you.

Priorities are completely and totally out of whack.

...

Well put Velveeta...

I absolutely agree.

Charity is what is called for here - NOT looting of the U.S. Treasury for political gain.

It's unbelievable how ignorant the sheeples are on this subject.

If Obama had promised them a BILLION dollars the sheeples still wouldn't care.

Obama doesn't care...

He doesn't care about authority, the constitution or congressional approval. His only goal is to financially break america. And we are helping him to do it with our acceptance by silence. As long as we just sit back & complain about it without doing something,it will only continue to get worse.......

Not enough has been done to

Not enough has been done to stop current foreign aid, so why would that change here?

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Wanna bet that the people won't see most of that $

I'd wager that most of that money will never get to the people in need. If it involves government, it'll be siphoned off in all sorts of ways.

I have much greater trust in private charities and if you can give to someone yourself, that's even better. (Tougher when the people are overseas, though.) I prefer private charities with a history of frugal good stewardship of my donations. . . that doesn't describe government at all.

Absolutely

And you can bet that if he says he is sending 6 million only 3 million will actually reach their shores. Half will somehow be lost at sea on the way.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

Its OK

Just print more money. The world has become nothing but a monopoly board game. Just pay your poor tax. You'll will be fine.

Money talks and dogs bark

I completely disagree. Those

I completely disagree. Those people are in desperate need, just as the Haitians were after that devastating earthquake. If we are to spend American taxpayer dollars on foreign aid, I'd rather it go to feed, clothe and shelter the victims of a natural disaster, than to bullets, bombs and drones.

PattyFromTexas

Patty, of course that is the right instinct

But here we are talking about matters of Law. Capital L as in "What limits tyrants"

Tyrants will always break the binds of the Laws that bind them, *first* by breaking it in the name of charity .. helping the needy .. "Doing the Right Thing".

So this way, good people do not stop them.

Then once the precedent is set, they have pushed the boundaries one step farther. Then they go farther .. then farther ..

Its a pattern. It's what they do.

Thanks Von - for backing up my argument. IT IS about the LAW...

Either the Constitution is the law of the land or it's not.

If it is, then there is no authority for the government to do this. Now I see it's about $20 million in aid.

Obama applauded U.S.A.I.D. in their "efforts" but U.S.A.I.D. is a CORRUPT-CRIMINAL organization which should be broken up and everyone involved TRIED FOR TREASON.

When people like Patty make this argument it means she has no idea of what the law is - or doesn't care.

She is a classic case of having mistaken THEFT for CHARITY.

It's hard to not want to help when they are in such need

Yes it would be nice to feed and clothe the people over there, but just because we send the money to be used for things like that does not mean that that is what it will be used for.

Americans are very charitable and usually donate money, time, products, and services in these situations. Each individual should be able take the time to decide how they want their money to be spent and what organizations they deem trustworthy enough to send their money to. However when Obama just sends a chunk of money we don’t even have in our name to their government…. Who knows how it will get spent.

It’s not about not wanting to help, it’s about how to do it and this isn’t the way.

Also American taxpayer dollars will still be spent on bullets, bombs, and drones whether or not we send aid to the Philippines right now, so as much as I personally would rather have my money going to help the needy instead of perpetuating violence or propping up dictators it is not as though we will spend less on these things just because we sent some aid to the Philippines.

Help is welcome but

A thief giving out stolen goods with future extortion and theft intents is not help. These ones offering help are all a bunch of puppet theives.

There is no budget

and there hasn't been a budget since 2009. Obama may claim the authority of a dictator as congress relinquished its power, giving rise to Obama spending money the way he sees fit.

I agree. The Phillipines

I agree. The Phillipines would be better off NOT accepting aid from US or Canada or UK.
