'I'm the original voice of Siri'

Sandy Springs, Georgia (CNN) -- For the past two years, she's been a pocket and purse accessory to millions of Americans. She's starred alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Zooey Deschanel. She's provided weather forecasts and restaurant tips, been mocked as useless and answered absurd questions about what she's wearing.

She is Siri, Apple's voice-activated virtual "assistant" introduced to the masses with the iPhone 4S on October 4, 2011.

Behind this groundbreaking technology there is a real woman. While the ever-secretive Apple has never identified her, all signs indicate that the original voice of Siri in the United States is a voiceover actor who laid down recordings for a client eight years ago. She had no idea she'd someday be speaking to more than 100 million people through a not-yet-invented phone.

The woman behind Siri, Apple's friendly voice-activated virtual 'assistant,' has finally been revealed.

Susan Bennett, a voice-over actor from suburban Atlanta, Georgia, laid down hours of nonsensical recordings for an unknown client eight years ago; little did she know, she would soon be speaking to more than 100million people once Siri was introduced with the iPhone 4S on October 4, 2011.

For four hours a day during the entire month of July 2005, Mrs Bennett, 64, read hundreds of phrases and sentences that enabled Apple to pull out vowels, consonants, syllables and diphthongs; before playing with her pitch and speed.

'There are some people that just can read hour upon hour upon hour, and it's not a problem. For me, I get extremely bored ... So I just take breaks. That's one of the reasons why Siri might sometimes sound like she has a bit of an attitude,' Mrs Bennett told CNN. 'Those sounds might have been recorded the last 15 minutes of those four hours.'

Trolling

I think that whole Siri & Ron Paul story was a very thin trolling attempt by Apple.

As we know, Ron Paul supporters are often referred to as "paulbots". I.e., bots, robots. Machines without their own thinking or opinion.

Siri is a robot, too.

Well, you know how to connect the dots now.

FUCK SIRI

AND FUCK IPHONES

"He's this eccentric Ghandi-Like figure that you cant touch with the normal bribes that people respond to."
the man Doug Wead on DR. RON PAUL

And it's gone

Figures!

What if the system

is identifying you by voiceprint? Even if you reset the phone,
if it has previously identified you as an ------supporter
maybe it just substitutes content related to that?

Did they do any checking to see if this is a universal response?

This is nice, but the reality

This is nice, but the reality is, the programmer did this, not Apple and it will probably be changed.

A large percentage of programmers are Ron Paul fans and/or libertarians. Recently at a Bitcoin conference a speaker asked if there were any Democrats in the house, then asked if there were any Republicans in the house with both parties receiving pathetic responses, but then someone screamed from the audience "What about Libertarians?" and the whole place erupted. True story.

Guess in the larger scheme of things,

it may be minor, but all of y'all's confirmations of this? Just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo made my day .0D

So, to all those who tested this out and r3VOL-'pestered' your loved ones and non-r3VOL alike to confirm this? Thanks y'all!!!!

From this day forth, I hereby declare the Apple iPhone with Ms. SiRi, the "RONphone"!!! .o)

That's a nice find! Of

That's a nice find! Of course, a large number of programmers are Libertarians because it is a logical political position. Libertarianism has always been popular with intellectuals, engineers and the like.

only i-devices that are updated with ios 7 do it

we just tested all of our devices (4 of them) the three updated devices gave the RP info - mine (not updated) said "I didn't find anything" It appears this just happened with the update :)

(maybe I will update now)

I wish.

I wish we had known about this last year! This would have made for an amazing advertisement.

I just imagine us flooding the internet with comments like, "Have you asked Siri about her political views."

If the future of humanity is artificial intelligent computers, there may be hope for Liberty yet. LOL.

LoL, too funny. Just tried it on my phone and it's Ron Paul baby!

I emailed a bunch of people

I emailed a bunch of people from my congressional district and told them to report back to me. So far everyone has report the same. Lol!

FYI...ask Siri where to hide a dead body.

ask siri if she took the red

ask siri if she took the red pill or the blue pill

I just sent my husband a text

I just sent my husband a text (who is hunting at the moment) and asked him to ask her and tell me what she says. He texted me back that Ron Paul came up.

Ha! My wife just did it and Ron Paul came up :)

Winning!

This is true

I tried on my wife's phone which I never use and she never searches anything political. I get same result.

This appears legitimate. Tried it on my spouse's phone,

which doesn't have a browsing history that would indicate political leanings.

Hugs from Chile.

Interesting....

I wouldn't think that Apple was supporting Ron Paul...
my guess would be more suspicious in that Apple had probably been tuning in to the phone owner's voice or internet history - and simply repeated whatever political party view that particular owner held.

if you watch the first part of the video,

Anderson mulls out loud exactly what you're pointing out, that's why he takes you step by step through the process.

He says that he was prompted because he saw a few posts on FaceBook about other owners citing "Ron Paul" as the answer voiced by SiRi, when asked the same question. And, others too have wondered that it's more than likely from previous usage and metadata tied to the Apple ID/account.

so Israel is using his brand new iPhone 5S without using the Apple ID to set up the phone to ask the same.

but seeing as how I'm a Droid user and never owned an iPhone, not sure exactly how the iPhone's particular setup process works.

Israel doesn't say whether he's used the new phone prior to this, other than to say that he's "reset" it.

guess he means "flashing" it back to its factory defaults, which I suppose may still result in some residual buffer, from previous usage...not sure though.

But if it IS due to the user's previously recorded metadata in the Apple Cloud, perhaps the algorithm can be yielding such results.

I'd like to see an oBUSHma's supporter's new iPhone be asked the same, and see what it says. lol.

either way, to me it was interesting to see, nonetheless, for a drive by hardy har har .)

Yes, but

it's still his SIM card in the phone. Siri is clearly accessing the internet, so there is an account set up on the phone.
