The Mag North pole is still it the North greneral area

5 different compasses have all pointed to the North East now.

As most should know that the Magnetic North does move and it has been moving recently at a rate of about 55km per year to the North-East.

According to some web posts, it moved 120 miles in the first...

six months of 2013 and the shift is accelerating at a logarithmic rate.

Interesting. Can anyone

Interesting. Can anyone confirm this? Wonder if it has anything to do with the solar pole flip?

To arms! To arms! The Redcoats are coming!

There's no proven correlation

between solar maximum flips and earth magnetic pole flips. The solar flips are very regular, every 11 years. Earth flips appear to be random, between 0.1 and 1 million years, averaging 450,000 years between flips, but some are of shorter duration. The last flip was 780,000 years ago, the Brunhes-Matuyama reversal. A recent paper documents a more recent short duration flip, 41,000 years ago, which lasted just 440 years, the Laschamp event.

Absolutely correct.

Further, given the rapid acceleration of the present shift, coupled with the dramatic changes in earth's rotational speed arguers for things getting very, very ugly sooner than many of us want to imagine.

The Sun's pole reverses quite frequently.

As far as I know, there is no civilization on the Sun. A magnetic pole reversal of the Earth will have catastrophic consequences to everyone on the planet.

Catastrophe may be

a bit strong. It would definitely confuse and damage instruments. We would probably adapt by monitoring it like the weather. Full reversal takes thousands of years, hundreds, apparently for shorter duration flips.

Cosmic radiation exposure could be the least of our worries.

What kind of effect, if any would it have on electronic circuits, including the flow of electricity in our bodies. It could also be associated with disrupting the Earth's axis; though, I have not correlated the dates of any of the pole reversals with the superstorm which must have occurred to flash-freeze Woolly Mammoths found with undigested buttercups in their stomachs.

Significant shifts in plate tectonics could foreshadow massive volcanic eruptions along the "Ring or Fire" or super earthquakes (9+) on the West Coast of North America. This could get really ugly, especially if the Yellowstone caldera gets involved. http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/could-an-eruption-...

Bob, I don't agree

with some of your doomsday alarm bells. Are you conflating disasters and mixing up subjects, without good evidence? There's no known correlation between tectonic events in the geologic record and pole reversals. Earth is a giant, sometimes volatile, geomagnet, yet here we are. You need to back up end of the world scenarios with good evidence, if for no other reason, your own peace of mind.

I was not looking agreement, Shrader.

I was asking a legitimate question, based upon the link I attached to the article. As it is, we are seeing major earthquakes and volcanoes at a time that the magnetic pole shift is rapidly increasing. I did a fairly thorough web search, but gave up after a page or two, trying to find out when the magnetic pole shifts occurred in the past in order to see if there were a correlation. I figure seeking the truth is the most important reason for libertarian-ism. However, when I post some positive, important scientific breakthrough, it is ignored and when I post an article or comment, even in the form of a question, I receive ridicule. While you seem sincere, most out here seem more interested in "3D-printed panties" or the latest Onion satire than they are with a serious discussion on something outside of their comfort zone.

As for "backing up my end of the world scenarios," warnings of super earthquakes and Megatsunamis during this decade have been discussed by serious scientists on both the HISTORY and DISCOVERY channel within the last 10 years. Anyone who wants to do the research can find it using any web search engine. Yet, my postings always ask for "more evidence" or "better sources". Nobody pays for me to do this and nobody even questions the validity of much of the nonsense posted on the DP.

I am quite at peace, no matter what happens, because I do not compromise my principles, unlike the intolerant Rand Paul-worshippers or those that insist "Ron Paul would not approve." Last night I had a subscriber who hounded me mercilessly because I had not recently searched the Lincoln library to confirm Lincoln quotes posted at least a dozen usually reliable websites on the Internet.

Quite frankly, I have concluded the DAILY PAUL is beyond redemption. However, this time I will not be announcing my departure, as it seems to please too many people.

Whoa, that was a DP

rant, quickly justified by the rub guys in their underwear to create a bond post here this morning. I'm just saying the connection between a pole shift and plate tectonic movements is not scientifically established. Earthquake, tsunami, volcanic, asteroid, solar, chemical, nuclear threats are real enough, no doubt. Fascinated by the polar shift. Thanks for posting.

I'm hoping not

There are a lot of us that love your contributions my friend. They help keep the place alive. It tends to get repetitious without posts like this. Please disregard the above.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

And it will mess with the Pigeons.

Actually all migratory birds and sea life.

I can confirm.

In June, I placed my compass squarely on a corner of our kitchen counter and dialed it in at 18 degrees West of North. Today, when I placed it back in the same spot on the counter it is 18 degrees West of North. No change at all.

Good. IIf what you say is true, we should have nothing to...

worry about for now.

It's true.

I don't see any change. Perhaps there is change that is observable from a location other than the southern United States? I don't know. I initially set the dial specifically for this purpose. I had seen a similar post and comments elsewhere and checked daily for a couple of weeks because people claimed it was moving. I know the pole wanders, but I haven't personally witnessed it.

I don't doubt your sincerity; I just thought your compass....

might not be accurate enough to detect a 2 degree change. Or, it could be affected by something in your kitchen (say, a microwave magnetron).

I am sure any significant change will reported by multiple sources on the web soon
