Mom Gives Kids Homemade Lunch, School Forces Them to Eat Ritz Crackers

‘A mom who thought she was properly parenting by sending her two young kids to school with a homemade, whole-food lunch was shocked to find a penalty note from school officials informing her that the lunch of roast beef, potatoes, carrots, oranges and milk she provided was “unbalanced” and therefore had to be supplemented with Ritz crackers.

She was also fined $10.’

Have to have meat?

Guess if you're vegetarian it's child abuse?

Potatoes vs. Ritz Crackers

Both have starch. Potatoes are healthier.

So what happens if they

So what happens if they children refuse to eat it? Are they going to suspend them?

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Probably suspend them, make

Probably suspend them, make the parent go to court and take court-ordered nutrition classes, pay a fine to the court, pay for the classes, and pay a fine of $5 for each food item the child didn't eat.

The most messed up part of this

is that you could probably live your whole life just eating those foods and be more than healthy.

The most messed up part is that these people are...

not only feeding the child but also teaching it math.

One missing item @ $5 each = $10 charge???

$5 per child ;)

$5 per child ;)

You could probably just tell them...

... your kid has a gluten sensitivity and can't eat any grains. With all the various ailments that have been linked to gluten-induced gut-permeability recently you're probably not even lying.

Very Real

That's another type of 'cracker'

btw, All of these kids should be forced to eat peanuts, strawberries, and shellfish every day of a 12-month school year.

This is beyond absurd and wouldn't surprise me if someone there has stock in Nabisco. It seems like a joke...Ritz Crackers are considered a grain? What if the kids have a gluten allergy or are on a no-carb diet. Why am I even arguing this - WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL ME WHAT TO FEED MY KIDS! [yes, caps, kinda angry over this nonsense...]

There should be a slogan - Bring 'em home (applies to soldiers and kids in government schools).

As a Canadian

I would never tolerate this. I would go into the school and sue the teacher, the teacher association. the school district. Everyone!

I don't even care if it got thrown out. I would do it only to throw a wrench in there greedy asses.

This is all a plan for the teachers association to make money through lunches.

But I would come in with fists flying.
As other posters said, what if the kid can't eat gluten?
It's not news anymore but grains are NOT healthy no matter what!
Argggg that pisses me off.

Hey Archons', we are taking our planet back and there's nothing you can do about it!

$10 for a box of crackers?!?

That's more than they charge at Disney World.

Let's not

forget all the genetically modified corn and soy in those Ritz crackers.

If this had been my kid...

If this had been my kid I would have them in court so fast their heads would spin. Just the action of having a Sheriff serve them would make them back track. Since when is a school Judge, Jury and fine collector?

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

To me

that seems to be what this is really about at the school.. It's sure not going to take long for parents to protest.. so it seems as if this was designed for such a protest.. Why would they create a school lunch program that is begging for a trial?

My guess... no more lunches from home is the ultimate goal.. it's a move by the state to further remove parental control.

Very possible

An action to bring about a final ruling? Very possible, been done many times before.

Her kids lunches were deficient in "grains" aka WHEAT

By now everyone here at the DP should know of the dangers of wheat, both to the gut and the brain:

Wheat Belly:

Brain Grain:

allegory - ˈalɪg(ə)ri/ - noun - 1. a story, poem, or picture which can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.

Yes Ritz has flower. Highly processed wheat flower! Not whole grain goodness! I feel the non-complex, highly processed, carbohydrates in our diet are one of the problems. And the darned food pyramid gets changed all the time!! Again, another reason is added for giving your young children a chance at home schooling!

Ritz has Flower?

You shouldn't be home schooling if you don't know the difference between Flower and Flour. Sorry, couldn't resist.
