Preppers need to remember car emergencies too. I-20 near Odessa, TX has been shut down for nearly 8 hours, since 11:46PM Saturday. Fuel stations last night in Van Horn TX were not taking any credit or debit cards; it was cash only as frenzied motorists scrambled trying to figure out what to do. Several vehicles were crashed & jackknifed Saturday and Sunday. Slow down out there, leave lots of following distance and pull over somewhere to stop if you're not comfortable in these conditions. This is a good reminder to have water, blankets, snacks, cash, and other necessities in your vehicle in case you face a situation like this. Here is a live report & video from the scene; It will be updated in real time. [Article continues here.]

That is one desolate stretch of highway

That is one desolate stretch of highway with a few (relatively) steep grades. Not a place to be caught unprepared ... one of the few stretches of interstate highway in Texas where I would carry snow chains in the winter.

Safe journey to all those delayed by these conditions!

Hopefully the Wendy's at the Pilot truck stop in Van Horn has re-stocked their chili!

I'd make the little wording change

that preppers need to remember car emergencies FIRST. Not in addition. If you don't have a flashlight, water, and an extra blanket in your car, take care of that way before you build shelving in your basement.

Sending prayers of warmth and mobility your way

Great message THANK YOU.. be safe, be warm, get home soon and again, THANK YOU!

Wow, wow, wow

That has to be horrible. I hate to travel anymore, got stuck in a two hour jam and thought that was bad. Yikes!
