New Hunger Games movie...WOW!

Went to see the new Hunger Games film, "Catching Fire." I was pleasantly surprised at both the plot-line and the dialogue! Without giving anything away to those who haven't seen it and are planning to, the general theme to this episode of the story is a very in-your-face anti-totalitarian one. It depicts an ever-increasingly brutal police presence, a corrupt government from the top down, and the gradual awakening of the people...and at the end, for the next film, the revolution against the State begins!

I hope the general public is smart enough to 'get it' this time.

BTW, there was a coming attraction for another upcoming film which is also a dystopian nightmare story about a corrupt totalitarian government and the awakening and resistance of the masses. A recurring theme...it makes one wonder.

I'm still buzzing over the movie

IMHO, Jennifer Lawrence performance was Oscar worthy. She and the rest of a excellent cast raised the movie from being just a dystopian action flick to a film with heart and a message.

And what is the message? Like 1984, Catching Fire was not merely about keeping the proles in line under the lash of the whip or threat of starvation, but to break and re-make them to love the State! That was the true horror that Peeta and Katniss had to endure, was losing their personalty to become mindless pawns for the state. Capitol city's sick ideology was a secular religion, a bright shining lie repeated over and over again to brainwash the mind and scour the soul of individuality.

Completely Agree

I couldn't have said it better. I really hope the underlying message roots in people's minds as it seems more and more dystopian ideas are becoming realities.

This movie seems a strong ally to winning hearts and minds for liberty.

It felt way too much like the

It felt way too much like the first one. But I do like the sentiment of exploring the totalitarian state...

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

Rand Paul lives in District 12. Why am I not surprised?

sorry guys!
Someone's gotta start speaking to the facts of our dire situation.

Bumping!

I adored the movie. And it was very accurate to the book! The next two films based on Mockingjay should be even better, liberty-wise.

Mockingjay will be two movies?

Hey alright! I'm excited.

Sutherland as the President is hilarious!

Donald Sutherland has been widely painted with Communist accusations, some based on his affiliations.
I remember an interview many years ago. He spoke of his intimate relationship with Jane Fonda and I came away convinced he was as Communist as you could possibly be.

His son is Keifer Sutherland has Socialist/Communist leanings.

When asked about his politics:
"To a large degree they`re private, but I believe – I believe inherently that – that we have a responsibility to take care of each other, so when you can talk about socialized healthcare, absolutely, that`s a no-brainer. Free universities, absolutely, that`s a no-brainer for me. So in the definition, I guess those are leaning towards socialist politics. To me it`s common sense. And I do believe the wealthy have a responsibility to the less fortunate. Some people call that communism. I disagree. Again, it`s common sense. But I would have to say that my politics would be leaning towards the left."

The thing i dont like about

The thing i dont like about hunger games and divergent is the people dont start rising up until after they have been f'd. Like how stupid do you have to be to let a government come in and make slaves out of you? (Tongue-in-cheek)

Sad but that's how it will

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

You beat me to it.

I was just going to make a thread. A co-r3VOLution and daily-paul'r friend and I saw this today, it was fantastic!

I won't give anything away either, but I will say that President Obama, I mean Snow, had more of a presence in this episode.

It is a MUST see.

"I hope the general public is smart enough to 'get it' this time."

They will not. To them it is pure fantasy entertainment. After the movie was over they went right back to giggling and cell phones.
