Healthy Teenage Son Died After Routine Flu Shot

A heartbroken Utah mother shared her story on Fox and Friends this morning following the death of her 19-year-old son.

Chandler Webb became severely ill the day after receiving his first ever flu shot in October. Lori Webb said her son started vomiting and shaking, so she took him to a hospital in Salt Lake City.

One day later he fell into a coma and was taken off life support after 28 days.

Webb now questions whether the routine vaccine was responsible for the death of her son, who was set to depart on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She says doctors tested her son for many diseases, even rabies, but didn't consider that the flu vaccination could have been a factor until "the very end."

Webb said there's "no doubt" in her mind that if they had focused on the flu vaccine from the start that her son would still be alive.

You signed a medical release forgiving everyone involved of any wrong doing. This is a decision that should have been adverted. The loss of human life is shameful.

Bad ideas have bad consequences.

Given the timing of the illness

relative to the flu shot and given the fact that even the CDC was involved and yet tests for all sorts of things turned up nothing, it's too bad the hospital didn't think to consult with House scriptwriters.

No, the writers wouldn't have had Foreman & Thirteen break into the family's house & search for a calendar or appointment book that might show where the young man had been recently. (Chandler - Flu shot for mission trip) It's not as if the boy entered the hospital in a coma, and his mother was there: as *standard operating procedure* the team would have INQUIRED as to his activities & whereabouts & contacts during (at least) the prior 24 hrs to indicate a POSSIBLE CAUSE for his mystery illness. The cute medical couple would only be snooping around the house if & when VACCINE COMPLICATION had been ruled out along with all other *obvious* potential connections.

Unless the mother's side of the story is missing key information, it seems so blatantly irresponsible on the part of the hospital, I have to believe that at least some doctors did know about the vaccine and for some reason chose not to look further into it.

The CDC recommends that all healthcare workers have the flu vaccine. Perhaps it's relevant to note that Intermountain Medical Center (part of the Intermountain Healthcare group) has a mandatory immunization program, incl. for seasonal influenza, for employees, volunteers, vendors, and other regular visitors.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing you could TEACH a Loved One...

One thing about this case is CERTAIN: That 19 yr-old was NOT a happy-go-lucky person.

This is one of the greatest UNINTENTIONAL DISTORTIONS on the planet:

Bad things don't happen to happy people.
"Freak accidents" do NOT EVER happen to happy, confident people.

Every movie that shows a happy family singing while they drive down a snowy road and then SUDDENLY tragedy strikes out of nowhere --- that is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE.

Starting from right now - test this theory out for every major event in your life (it's true for all events, large & small):

Theory: Experience matches your MOOD.

Manage your Mood and you will literally grab the reins of your life.

Next time something BIG happens to you or someone close to you ask yourself: What mood was I (or that person) dominantly in leading up to that experience ?

This is the most important thing you could ever teach anyone you love.
Test it.

Magnesium.

"Bad things don't happen to happy people.
'Freak accidents' do NOT EVER happen to happy, confident people."

And sufficient dietary intake of magnesium prevents bus accidents (as one '60s underground comic strip had a natural-juice-bar tender claiming).

I bet there were plenty of happy people in Pompeii.

You're welcome to go through life thinking that being happy protects you from meteor impacts, lightning strikes, and being "it" in a round of the Knockout Game. But I'll stick to avoiding high places during thunderstorms and watching my surroundings (and toting my trusty Smith and Wesson Airweight where CCW is allowed). For the meteors I'll just have to take my chances, so I might as well be happy while I'm doing so.

Magnesium: An Epidemic Deficiency in the US!

Adequate Mg intake may not reduce "bus accidents", but it may very well prevent metabolic syndrome.

Empirical evidence has been growing for decades that the majority of Americans do not get the official recommended (minimum) daily allowance (RDA) for magnesium. For example, one study found that 68% of Americans do not consume the recommended RDA of magnesium and 19% do not even consume half. Moreover, those with intakes below the RDA were more likely to have elevated CRP, a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease.*

Mg2+ is an essential activator of >300 enzymes (e.g. RNA polymerases, ATPases, protein kinases, phosphatases, glutathione synthase, and carboxylases), and is involved in regulating ion transport and cation balance.

Because it binds with water molecules 3–4 orders of magnitude more tightly than do other cations, Mg2+ often interacts with other ions and molecules while still maintaining its hydration sphere. As a result, Mg2+ binds relatively weakly to the negatively charged groups in the cell membrane, so excess cations such as H+, Ca2+, and Al3+ present under acidic conditions can inhibit Mg2+ transport and uptake across cell membranes.

Did You Test it ?

I put it out there for people who care to know, and are open-minded enough to Scientifically run the experiment.

You really want to assert that it's false based on your ASSUMPTION about every single person who was part of a culture from THOUSANDS of years ago?

You can't help people who aren't looking for help.

But for those who WANT ANSWERS -- answers are all around.

Has anyone ever died of vitamin D3 overdose? NO.

Check out this MD who says over 5,000 IU a day of vitamin D3 works to prevent flu.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

You're risking vitamin toxicity here.

5,000 IU / day is above even the Tolerable Upper Limit for adults, and five times that for infants up to 6 months. You're risking vitamin toxicity here. Granted it's substantially below the levels that have been shown to produce ACUTE toxicity, but playing with megavitamin levels during childhood body development is, IMHO, big-time risky.

Has anyone died of vitamin D toxicity? Given that (especially in people of African descent) it can accelerate atherosclerosis, I'd say "You bet your life!"

But even if not, I'll be happy to skip the Dehydration, Vomiting, Decreased appetite, Irritability, Constipation, Fatigue, Muscle weakness, Metastatic calcification of the soft tissues, Kidney stones, ...

Unlike skin synthesis of vitamin D under ultraviolet light, which is largely self-regulating, dietary intake raises the blood levels of it and its metabolits substantially. Research shows that there is a rather narrow range of blood levels, outside of which (high OR low) the arteries age more rapidly and the death rate rises. Do YOU want to bet your, or your child's, life on whether this death rate rise is an effect of other disease process munging the blood levels and never excessive intake of dietary D3?

Toxicity resulting from oral D3 @ 5,000 IU/day?

I am not aware of any documented toxicity resulting from oral D3 @ 5,000 IU/day, but it is certainly possible.

Without question, Vitamin D3 from Sun is the best form and self-limiting b/c its sulfated, whereas no known enzyme exists to sulfate orally administered D3, leaving it potentially much more active. This is an area of much needed research in the vitamin D3 field, which could minimize much confusion in research findings.

However, it is established that "10–15 min whole-body exposure to peak summer sun will generate and release up to 20,000 IU vitamin D-3 into the circulation."

Based on the poor efficacy of the flu vaccine

Based on the poor efficacy of the flu vaccine, the family should sue. Oh, that's right, the government will not allow the public to sue vaccine makers.

Oh well, move along...

2011-12 flu season: the overall vaccine effectiveness was 47%.

[They call this level of effectiveness "modest overall." Got to like that spin.]

"The 2011-2012 season was mild and peaked late, with circulation of both type A viruses and both lineages of type B. Overall adjusted vaccine effectiveness was 47% (95% confidence interval [CI], 36 to 56) in preventing medically-attended influenza; vaccine effectiveness was 65% (95% CI, 44 to 79) against type A (H1N1) pdm09, but only 39% (95% CI, 23 to 52) against type A (H3N2)."

Immunizations are a balance of risks.

Immunizations are a balance of risks.

They necessarily damage the body at least slightly to stimulate the immune system, while activating the immune system also has a small chance of damaging the body substantially more, even fatally.

But in return they provide substantial reductions of risk from diseases.

Further, despite their failure to provide immunity to all who are treated, by reducing the "k factor" of the exponential growth, they can make the difference between a disease outbreak rapidly petering out or exploding into a pandemic. This gets the government, which thinks of us as a herd of cattle, interested in keeping us healthy and productive.

The unimmunized can act as vectors, reservoirs, or even apparently-healthy carriers, spreading disease to others (including those whose immunization failed but who mightn't have been exposed to the disease if not for the presence of a large population of unimmunized and the resulting higher exposure risk). This amounts to imposing coercive involuntary risk on their neighbors, which also gets government interested in mediating the conflict of choices.

Yes, it's a bitch that the incompetent authoritarians are trying to make these decisions for you. But it's easy to see why they try.

You couldn't be more wrong.

There is no legitimate evidence of vaccines ever working. It is garbage science at its finest. Many doctors have written books on the bogus claims that vaccines make, and many people love to boost claims of vaccine efficacy via the polio example. Unfortunately, to know what really happened to polio would actually take time and research, and most people cannot be bothered to actually use their brains, so they parrot what they hear others say. Polio was a by-product of poor saninitary conditions. Once sanitation was improved, Polio all but vanished. The vaccine was quickly introduced at that point to capitalize on the decline of Polio. To this day, people buy that BS.

Flu shots will increase your likelihood of getting the flu, or worse. For people that do actually enjoy stimulating their brains, here is a good start:

Our immune system can handle anything if you provide it what it needs. However, if you want to suppress it with poor dietary choices, inadequate sleep, vaccines, etc. then that is your choice. There is a cure for literally everything, multiple cures even such as cancer.
