Video Shows Monticello Mayor Cursing, Breaking Clock After DWI Arrest

MONTICELLO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A video recording shows the mayor of the Sullivan County municipality of Monticello in a heated confrontation after being arrested by his own police officers.

As CBS 2’s Steve Langford reported Sunday, Monticello Mayor Gordon Jenkins was arrested on Nov. 16, on suspicion of drunken driving.

Warning: Videos Contain Graphic Language

He was taken into custody after showing up to take a look at a serious car accident on Main Street. A volunteer firefighter noticed the mayor looked drunk, according to police, and notified law enforcement. Jenkins was arrested on the spot.

In a video recorded at his own police headquarters, a man identified as Jenkins was shown seated in a chair with one hand handcuffed to a wall. During the first minute of the video, he is heard apparently talking to himself, using a variety of obscene insults to describe the officers.

he's lucky he's black

he's lucky we have a double standard in this country when it comes to race. if he was a white mayor and was calling black officers racists names and threatening them it would be the top news story for a week.
melissa harris perry, al sharpton and people like toure would host hour long shows devoted to stopping racism in politics. luckily he's black so we don't have to worry about being subjected to any of that nonsense.

The news article omitted his racial slurs

No mention of "cracker," "honkey," or "peckerwood," I wonder why that is?

Paula Deen admitted to using the n-word a decade ago, and it becomes national news, and she looses her job. They get this guy, the mayor, a person in a position of power, on video being a very obvious racist, and the news omits his offensive language.

I'm getting sick and tired of these double standards.

The linked article mentioned

The linked article mentioned that he has ongoing hostilities with the police department. He may be in a power struggle with a corrupt police department. Who knows. He did not seem that drunk and it is by nature, "not the way things are done", odd that a police department would handcuff the mayor to the wall.

Maybe he was more combative
