'Say NO to the surveillance state!' - Buses thanking Edward Snowden cruise Washington D.C. (VIDEO)

Published time: November 26, 2013 08:07

Viewing NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden in Washington may rub salt into the fresh wounds of the Obama administration. A free-speech advocacy group put the fugitive’s face on Metro buses in a gesture of gratitude for his leaks.

The crowd funded ‘Thank You Ed Snowden’ bus ad campaign, launched this week, was organized by the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund (PCJF).

“The elites in D.C. may not ride the bus, but they can’t avoid reading the bus!” the group wrote on its donation site.

When fund-raising started to do the Snowden bus ad in Washington, it was only planned to pay for one single bus. Advertising costs for this are $5,000 for four weeks, according to CBS Outdoor, which handles advertising on Metro [Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority].

However now, following media reports, the campaign has seen an inflow of donations, and the PCJF is planning to extend and expand it.

“We want millions of people to know that they too can join the growing movement opposing the NSA's Surveillance State,” it said.

Immoral funding of Military Industrial Complex by Federal Reserve and US taxation system must stop!!!! End illegal/unconstitutional wars! Preserve US currency!

Don't ya just love Communism?

As Stalin once said "We will sell them the rope they will hang themselves with".
The liberty sounding Partnership for Civil Justice Fund has it's feet firmly rooted in communist soil.
Don't believe me? Go to wikipedia and read the bios of it's founding members and what they were involved in, and the books they authored and co-authored.
I wonder if Edward Snowden knows he is being used to further the Global Progressives?

I don't think he knew

I believe that he believed he did what he did for the right reasons, but really, I don't know.. think I could be projecting hope..

kinda reminds me of that old movie Falcon and the Snowman.. look what I found

I wish it was happening in my city!!!!!!!

I wonder if you know your a tool being used to further the Global Progressives?

"A vote for the lesser of two evils is a vote to keep things the same", Buckminster Fuller..
A choice for liberty is always a choice for liberty.

Your, meaning belonging to you,

you're, an abbreviation for you are, as in "I wonder if you know you're a tool being used to further the Global Progressives?

was that a Yes? or just a free grammar lesson?

Just a grammar lesson.

Man I hate communism, and how "they" are so manipulative at moving the masses.
I do like the add though, and I agree that we should fight the NSA...but don't want to drive it into the arms of the UN.
Is it already too late to stop mass civilian surveillance, or has the NSA gotten too big to go back? If it is deeply tangled with the MIC, what can be done to shut it down?
Would people en mass, ever boycott products that spy on them?

About grammar, etc

Add is like 2+2, ad is short for advertisement.

The buses are in DC, Jill, not Moscow.

At this point, I really don't care who sponsored the ad. I just freaking love the sight of it!

That such buses wouldn't be found in Moscow is part of

the point, I think. It does reflect a certain hypocrisy, as also Velveeta noted below. On the other hand, what does it say when a progressive legal advocacy group is called by the (liberal) Washington Post "the constitutional sheriffs for a new protest generation" - a group whose work is directed *against* a progressive administration.

Personally, while I did momentarily smile, I can't tell you how much I dislike the sight of (any) outdoor advertising. If you don't like tv comm'ls, you don't have to watch. You can also turn the page of a magazine or newspaper. But you're a sitting duck with outdoor ads - whether billboards or buses - unable to escape the propaganda of whomever has enough money to pay for it. That is, unless you're Kalle Lasn, who criticizes advertising and whose money the media won't take. Btw, he coined the term Occupy Wall St and set the first date. This legal advocacy group defended some arrested NYC Occupy protesters.

My point was that it is going on in DC, where our

so called "representatives" can see it every day. All is not well in the police state they helped to create. That's the message they are getting.

I wonder how many views of this are seen in Russia?

From Putin on down to the beet farmers, is the internet viewing of this available to them? Are they likely to be curious about OUR thankfulness for Snowden's personal sacrifices to better reveal the scope and nature of the surveillance state that WE, in the land of FREE, find ourselves immersed in?

I choose to view Russians as folks much like ourselves, being family and faith-oriented first; struggling with government impositions and coercions much as we do; only it's been overt there longer than the covert subversion that we've only learned of lately. I wonder how many more Russian Christians are praying for US, than we are praying for them and our great opportunity to turn this around?

Спасибо (Thank you), Ed Snowden!

"And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots.
And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha." - 2 Kings 6:15-17

What a funny situation

We need a progressive advocacy group... to promote a quintessential libertarian ideal... to a Democrat-controlled Senate and Republican-controlled House of Representatives... to hopefully spur Congress to take back control from a power-usurping progressive president. Well, I'm with Kalle Lasn, no fan of advertising and least of all outdoor, but... I guess it's nice to know Congressmen will be seeing that message for a while. :)

Who can make a bumper sticker to sell?

...although I don't like the Russia Today (RT) connection. Where are the buses circling the Kremlin demanding openness and accountability?
