Justin Amash: Claims made in Ellis's 'bizarre smear campaign' unfounded

By Rep. Justin Amash
November 26, 2013 at 10:00 AM

Like many in our community, I’ve been left scratching my head at the bizarre smear campaign that was launched against me a few weeks ago—nearly a year before the Republican primary.

One day, my opponent says I’m too conservative because I stood firmly against Obamacare and voted against an earmark. The next day, he runs attack ads claiming I’m too liberal, even though I’m the top conservative in the House according to conservative scorekeepers FreedomWorks and The Club for Growth.

Bizarre, I thought—until I read up on who’s behind his campaign.

The Washington Post reported that my challenger’s backers think he will do things “the old-fashioned way—by working the inside game and playing nice.”

“Wall Street donors” clamored for his campaign, according to a liberal former congressman who supports my challenger and pledged to raise $8 million this cycle.

“I don’t think Justin Amash cares if Bank of America gives to him or not,” one dismayed bank lobbyist told Politico.

They’re right. Crony capitalists have found their guy—and it’s not me.

Now is not the time

for the liberty movement to get caught flat footed. It's clear that right now the NeoCon establishment is fighting the battles that need to be won prior to the next two major elections 2014, 2016. In Iowa with trying to oust Spiker, Justin Amash being primaried, promoting that fraud Ted Cruz as a liberty candidate, the handling of Lindsy Grahm's primary etc.. I'm not saying I have all of the answers or tactics to winning these battles but make no mistake that we need to step up our game right now, not a month prior to those elections.

Hamilton vs. Burr style

What's up with the Michigan Republican party?

Supporting Ellis over Amash? Reminds me of the way the Republicans rejected Ron Paul every chance they got. The stench of this is overwhelming.

Sheep.

And/or a broken cog in the brain.

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

By contrast...

By contrast, when you have nothing, invoke a hometown hero, Reagan, or Israel. Or in the case of Brian Ellis - all three.

He has been plastering billboards around town stating that Amash voted with Obama 51% of the time - of course not shown on the billboard was that the 51% was based on cherry picked votes which represent less than 1/5 of all votes for just 2012 - less than 10% of all votes that Amash has taken. Even when you go to the Ellis website, it cites a report by "Congressional Quarterly" (whoever that is), but only lists the table, not what any of the votes actually were. It's a great lesson in lying with statistics.

Nonetheless, his challenge will need to be answered and exposed because the average citizen might take the stat at face value rather than researching. So...

Money Bomb for Amash on December 16. Don't spend everything on black Friday! We need to bury this challenger and teach them not to mess with the Liberty movement again.

Justin, even the pope wants politicians like you!

"How can it be that it is not a news item when an elderly homeless person dies of exposure, but it is news when the stock market loses two points?" Pope Francis asked an audience at the Vatican. Read further in

Putting fairness and human sympathy into libertarianism; while your opponent's talking points appear to derive from dark underpinnings of doom.

There are only 2 slightly positive comments. Looks like the readers have him figured out, a rich trust fund kid buying an election with dads money.

I couldn't make it through

I couldn't make it through the drivel, propaganda, and lies from this asshole.
