Glenn Beck: Time Might Be Right to Send GOP the Way of the Whigs

Glenn Beck would like to see a revamped GOP, but if need be he wouldn't mind seeing the party go the way of the Whigs.

Tea party Republicans such as Sens. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, have a real chance to send the old guard of the Grand Old Party the way of the dodo, Beck said Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity."

There were only 20 Republicans in 1853, Beck said, yet by 1860 they had elected a president, Abraham Lincoln. Beck thinks such overwhelming change can happen even faster today because of the Internet.

"It was Einstein that said, the consciousness that created the problem cannot solve the problem," Beck said. "So it's time for a new consciousness."

"The GOP" is an empty vessel. Fill it with Liberty.

"The GOP" is a collection of corporations organized under the laws of the States and the federal government. It's a stack of paperwork with a perpetual life. That stack of paperwork has electoral advantages, shortcuts and gimmes that have been written into the laws of the vast majority of States, guaranteeing candidates who run under the banner of that stack of paperwork "major party status" and easy, cheap, no-work ballot access.

Only two stacks of paper have that advantage. Thanks to 75+ years of corruption and collusion on the state level, only two stacks of paper will EVER have those advantages (the Democrat corporations and the Republican corporations).

Those stacks of paperwork define the corporations' internal operating procedures, including such things as how to fill "officer" positions and "committee" positions and all the other governing positions inside the local, state and national organizations.

Want to 'OWN' the GOP? Read the instructions, do what they say, show up in greater numbers and THE GOP BECOMES "US" INSTEAD OF "THEM."

Advocating the abandonment of one of only two stacks of paperwork that can get you to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is foolhardy and ignorant. (Luckily, ignorance is curable.)

You make it sound simple

showing up is the hard part!

Has anybody

every made it on his show to question 'why we should trust him after how he called Dr Paul a nutjob and sabotaged Debra Medina'? Until, he makes a public statement, that he extremely sorry and absolutely wrong on these issues, F' Him! I believe he's being contracted by the GOP to play like he's a Libertarian Patriot, and when the elections come around, push us to vote for the GOP Corporatist candidate. Never trust an Israel-firster Zionist!

While I agree the GOP needs to adapt or die,

it should be noted that though the Whig Party died, the Republican Party formed when the Whigs and the Free Soil Party reunited after the Free Soil faction left the Whig Party over the slavery issue.
Lincoln was an old Whig leader who continued to promote their platform as a Republican. He gave lip service to the abolitionist faction as a Republican to keep them from splitting off again.
Using the Whig example, voters should understand that rent-seeking politicians will transfer to any party replacing the GOP. The new party will be Whig Party 3.0 under whatever new name it may adopt, if those disgruntled with the current GOP are not alert. Follow the money.

Glenn's listeners

FYI, not to the OP, but to the rest of the commenters - Glenn Beck has millions of listeners. Did you ever stop to think that all his listeners who hear his new talk about liberty and freedom the last 11 months who come here to learn more will read this thread and feel unwelcome here? Did you ever consider that you're doing your part to keep the movement as small as possible? Is that your intention? Do you want it as your own exclusive little club?

For christ's sake, even Alex Jones has stopped trashing the various questionable people like Glenn Beck and is telling everyone that we need to all work together to defeat the real enemies.

Quit being so childishly butthurt about what someone did years ago and start welcoming imperfect people who do more good than harm.

You misunderstand

We welcome them, but not if they think Glenn Beck is being honest or is anything other than an propagandist. "Truth is treason in the empire of lies". If us telling them the truth turns them away - then they haven't really had the "awakening". Once a person is truly awake they cannot be lulled back to sleep - that is what Beck's mission is, to keep them sleeping and voting for Republicans. Just look at the last election, after making fun of Romney the plastic man and pretending to be against the establishment, did he tell his followers to vote for Ron Paul? No. He told them they had to vote for Romney so Obama didn't win again.

He claims to be against foreign aid and invading Syria, but he was one of the primary media instigators of the genocide in the Middle East with his anti-Muslim movies, etc... Now that war and genocide are unstoppable, and not even discussed in the USA, he feigns to be for the Constitution.

Perhaps they will come here and learn the truth - that Beck is a military-intelligence-trained stooge who finds a certain demographic to herd in a certain direction. Beck claimed to be libertarian and wary of the Republican establishment as far back as '07 - but he called us terrorists and trashed Dr. Paul. He claims to support the "Tea Party" but spearheaded the demise of Debra Medina so Rick "the moron" Perry would win. His message has been refined and he has an even bigger following now - but he has the same mission.

If they are that stupid, then they will follow him in being against us anyway. They will be the ones supporting throwing us into camps and "re-educated".

I get the impression you

I get the impression you haven't heard a single thing Glenn has said in 2013. Everything you mention is from last year or earlier. What has come out of his mouth lately has changed completely, from what I understand of what he used to be like.

It's inappropriate to hold others to some standard of esoteric "awakening" before they can be welcomed, just because they listen to some guy you're butthurt over. That is an elitist mentality. Think about what affect your rants have on someone who becomes interested in freedom because of what Glenn said. Do you think you're helping him by trashing the guy that led him to Google a few things and find this site? It doesn't MATTER how genuine Glenn is being, or if he'll change again. His listeners are buying it, and they're turning our way, and nothing he could do in the future will change that. He can't take it back. He already shared the ideas, just like he shared his old pro-establishment ideas in the past. The fact is at the moment the people listening to him are turning pro-liberty to match what's coming out of his mouth, and they're becoming attracted to other sources giving the same types of messages.

How do you think an Ayn Rand follower would feel if he were to come to this site and read a thread trashing Ayn Rand because in the author's opinion Ayn Rand isn't libertarian enough, or isn't Christian? Such a thing does more harm than good, because it turns people away who were already jumping on board. Everyone is entitled to express his opinion, but what is the goal? To solidify a smaller elitist club, or to welcome people who are on the same page on most of the important issues?

Yes, I have seen some recent things

And no, I don't trust him. I trust him no more than Josef Goebbels or Sean Hannity. If you think his listeners are becoming "pro-liberty", you are sadly mistaken. They are simply being fed some select information so they become angry and feel like they are bucking the false two-party system and being Constitutionalists - and angry at the "liberals". Then, they will all vote for some Trotskyite like Cruz or a Tea-o-con like Rand Paul. They will talk the talk, but they are still sheep following a con man.

If they come here and discover that Glenn Beck is a traitor and a propagandist - then all power to them.

I am an Ayn Rand guy, and I have read many threads here trashing her. No big deal to me - I'm solid in my philosophical background.

As far as "welcome people who are on the same page on most of the important issues?" -- Just what issues are those? I don't see it. Ending the Christian genocide in the Middle East? Ending our relationship with Israel? Never again voting for a Republican or Democrat? A true investigation of 9/11? Prosecuting the heads of the NSA/CIA and the president for treason and putting them in front of a firing squad? Repealing the Patriot Act and the NDAA? Ending the Federal Reserve? (Maybe that one is close) Those are the most important issues, not Obamacare and gay marriage.
