TWIC is coming

There's nothing like a reality check to slap you full across the face to make it all personal.

My office received an e-mail today from corporate headquarters, reading, in part :

Announcement
TWIC is coming
TWIC = Transportation Workers Identification Credential Program

The TWIC program is a new Department of Homeland Security inititive...The TWIC card is a tamper-resistant "Smart" card that will be issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and will contain the holder's photo ID and fingerprint...Before these cards can be issued, an employee will need to :

* provide biographic information,
* sign a disclosure form,
* provide the necessary identity verification documents,
* privide a complete set of fingerprints,
* sit for a digital photograph,
* undergo a threat assessment and background check,
* (Provision of a social security number will not be required)

(Our) clients are currently notifying us of their plans for satisfying this federal mandate and it will be implemented on a project-by-project basis...

*************

I anticipate finding new employment sometime this year.

This is not new...

Google HSPD12 and find out how some brave folks at NASA JPL are fighting it.

Sheep to the slaughter

My office has about 150 engineers and designers who will be required to get this TWIC card to continue working. I'm willing to lay odds that 149 will do as instructed.

I was thinking today of 1933 Germany, when many, many Germans who were not Nazis, did the same.

Good for you on seeking

Good for you on seeking employment elsewhere.

It is a point of pride for me that, as far as I know, my fingerprints are not on file anywhere. I intend to keep it that way as long as I can possibly help it -- that is to say, as long as I remain conscious as they pummel me into submission in order to take my prints. Not because I have anything to hide, but because I am not a head of cattle to be branded, clipped and tagged.

We are free and sovereign inheritors of the Constitution; we make the rules, government is to obey us without fail or be drummed out of office.

If anything, it is government officials who should be microchipped, so we can closely monitor our servants.

It is a big deal

I do not recall where or when I read this, but it said something to the effect that the gov't was going to put into place a requirement that the US gov't will pre approve all travel foreign and domestic, and they can deny you passage at any time, and I recall that it was to go into effect in Feb 2008. Sounds like they are rolling the program out.

Send your email to Alex J plz

Alex, if anything, has been on top of this type of ID card crap for years. You should probably give him a heads up.

It's kinda funny, kinda sad. I've talked to those yuppie hipster types for years at bars around L.A. and they all laugh and giggle like little girls when you bring some of this stuff up. They don't see the police state taking form. They're mostly, self absorbed, oblivious tards that ironically think they've really got a handle on "the way things are". These are the same types that actually believe in the war on terror saying, "don't be alarmist", "don't get excited" (as they look over their shoulders) to make sure no one saw them actually having a conversation that wasn't "cool". (who's the paranoid freak now?)

Forget wasting empty energy on these types of people. Quit the jobs that want you to conform. Don't trade your self respect for a pay check. At some point, quit taking it all together... Stand up for yourselves!

Puppets come and puppets go but the world's stage is getting cluttered.

What law gave the Dept. of Homeland Sec. the authority to make laws or change laws? We must pressure Congress to repeal any laws that formed this cabinet division. Everything the Dept. of Homeland Sec. has done has been against our constitution to include:

Real ID

I was a merchant marine

we were under the DOT for years. I had to have similar documentation. I do not think it is a big deal

You're not...

I'm in engineering & construction, petro chem industry.

I'm with you 19...

F them Bastards!

Yes it is

That's the problem - we allowed the camel to get it's head in the tent. When Woodrow Wilson brought in the Fed. Reserve to Bush bringing in the Dept of Homeland Sec. This is clearly against our liberty and freedom.

can't say

Can't say I agree with this policy or not since you didn't say what your job is

yeah, but "Provision of a social security number will not....

be required"....so, all that will happen is an illegal will step in and take the job!!

I hope you wait for your new

I hope you wait for your new job long enough to tell your current employer, when they ask for you to supply all this intrusive and privacy-violating information, to GO TO HELL!

I've done this...

once before, on principle. Those who know me know I won't stand for any trampling of my freedom - I'm hardcore libertarian.

unreal......

Im glad you aren't going to stand for it, and are going to get a new job. We need to resist this at all costs!

he whole damn thing is

he whole damn thing is against what this country was FOUNDED on, a short 200 years ago. NONE of this is constitutional. WE ARE AMERICANS and we fought the American Revolution over this EXACT sort of stuff!
I say........NO WAY! The FEDERAL government can NOT mandate individuals. NO. Put me in your FEDERAL jail then, because I will never get out.
