Brush Cutting

No way! I’ll bet even Sikorsky didn’t have this in mind…

How much voltage did he say was in those power lines?

SO....where do you go to learn this trade????

Filmed in Northern Virginia near the town of Luray off

Interstate 81, which is also a major US Forest Service air tanker base.

So that's where sticks come from.

I did not know that.

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

I'd love to have that pilot

I'd love to have that pilot flying for me
Choppers are a whole different ballgame

having that contraption

having that contraption dangling near high power lines is the most stupid idea I have ever heard of. I can not believe they actually built that thing.

Luray is not northern Virginia

That is an insult to the good people of the Shenandoah valley.

The term "widow maker" came to mind

.

Very cool

on one hand, I hate to see lumberjacks lose two weeks of work.. on the other.. what a great invention!

Similiar to what was seen in

Similiar to what was seen in the James Bond movie.

I have never actually seen that used though. The only thing I have seen done is for them to go in and manually cut away the brush. I dont live up near Luray though(thats the location of the caverns).
Eitherway, they have those large lines crossing all over the state and they are required to have at least 10ft of clearance on eitehr side.(could be 20-30ft, but I seem to remember 10, perhaps thats by size of the line)

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.
