Snowden fuels fear of 'Big Brother USA'

Washington (AFP) - An avalanche of intelligence leaks from former CIA contractor Edward Snowden sent shockwaves around the world in 2013, lifting the lid on a vast global spying network and raising fears of a surveillance state.

As the year drew to a close, the 30-year-old Snowden remains exiled in Russia, his final port of call following a worldwide game of cat-and-mouse that appeared to come straight from the pages of a spy novel.

So...

people still read Time magazine?

I saw the Pope on the cover and looked away as if it burnt my eyes.

Totally illegitmate rag.

Time magazine honors pope over Snowden. Shouln't surprise anyone

In fact, it would probably be better for Snowden to be disassociated from the magazine entirely. Remember when Time had a tie between Bill and Bono?

"The fugitive Snowden, Time's runner-up behind Pope Francis for its person of the year,"...

No criticism followed -end of the article for me.

And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. ................BOAOAM!

That is JESUS! NOBODY PWNS like JESUS PWNS.

And yet...

who is on the cover of "Time" magazine as the Person of the Year?
The friggin' Pope? Seriously??? I would venture to say the Mr. Snowden has done more for the people of the world than even Ron Paul...and that's a tough conclusion to reach for me!

Time Magazine Choice Of Pope Francis Reminds Me Of ...

Obama receiving the Nobel Peace prize..

What do they have in commom?

1) both of them are highly political (vocal)
2) both are very socialistic minded
2) both had not been in their respective positions of power and authority long enough to have warranted such high esteemed and recognition. (What the heaven did they really do?)

How many of you Dpers had the same thoughts about these two men?

*Note: The Nobel Peace has lost credibility because of whom the awards have been given to and at the same time, Time magazine has never, ever had any credibility for picking genuine deserving people in the past.

Adolf Hitler in 1933? Really?

BOOM!!

One difference

The Pope has been brought up through the ranks and seems to have learned to practice real Christianity. That includes mercy , love, forgiveness, and helping the poor. It has been present, as reported, throughout his service.

Our president was a community organizer. Big difference! The politics of the US does not seem to be doing very well at finding the good people to run the government. It seems as the elitists control things. There may even be a shadow government running things. And, none of them seem to be as generous as the present Pope.

The Nobel Peace Prize

credibility was exposed when Arafat received the honor. Choosing Obama trumped that stupidity.

How Obama could show his face at Mandela funeral is further proof he has no shame!!!!!!!! May Obama go down in history as a soul mate of Count Dracula!

Not me

My vote would have gone to Malala, that said, being the Pope has global power, far more than Obama.. this pope has raised a few eyebrows because he's a non-conformist and non-condemning.. He is building bridges and he is cleaning up the vatican, and he has courage.. he tells the UN, "I'm all for a global central bank.. as long as I'm the bank." So he is shear delight for many Catholic intellectuals who have been burdens by the yoke of rote and pomp. Also, with the many Christian, espoecially Catholic churches that have been under seige, Egypt, Syria, Africa.. I think it's a nice jesture on Time's part to uplift the Pope.. The pope isn't a puppet.

You think it's a plus for the vatican to be the world bank??

Even, lukewarm Protestants in this country once understood that it was a good thing to have escaped the world being dominated by Rome.

I think

It's a brilliant protest for a global central bank on the Pope's part.

Why is that brilliant??

www.SpirituallySmart.com

Based on what you said, the pope isn't opposed to a central bank but just wants to be in control of it. How is that in line with anything Ron Paul stands for? What brings you here?

No

The pope is facing a NWO that wants a central bank that will consume the vatican's holdings. The Church has seen empires come and go and has NO FAITH in the world or this new crop of bankers.

How is the pope in line with what Ron Paul stands for? GOLD.

Snowden: Real American Patriot

An accurate assessment would be "Brother Edward let the government's dirty lies, dirty secrets and wrongful practices out in the open". Ed Snowden should make Time Magazine Person of the Year. The only real traitors are those who try to condemn him. He is a real patriot and modern American hero.
