New Harvard Study: Marijuana does not cause schizophrenia

http://www.theweedblog.com/new-harvard-study-marijuana-does-...

The study, which was led by Lynn DeLisi, MD, Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School http://www.schres-journal.com/article/S0920-9964%2813%290061...

Why are you spreading reefer madness?

Why don't you just come out

Why don't you just come out and lie like the High Schools did and say that it causes MAN BOOBS? All those 14 year old kids had to think about that one.

Why don't you just blatantly lie? or take an IQ test side by side with me and we can analyze memory loss or IQ, your call.

Isn't this what they said in...

the 1930's?

It was laughable then, ludicrous now. And to think our taxes still fund these useless studies!

its 'cos I owe ya, my young friend...
Rockin' the FREE world in Tennessee since 1957!
9/11 Truth.

And so on...

Pot has been associated with all sorts of ailments. No studies have concluded anything of the sort. The fact of the matter is that cannabis is good for you no matter how you use it. You can shove it up your ass and it will still do your body good. But you don't have to believe me. Just watch "Here's my evidence, where's yours?" on youtube.

Great. So not only are they

Great. So not only are they depleting our food from nutrients but they are now telling us NOT to take our vitamins.

Don't fear the REEFER!

Don't fear the REEFER!

Not a very well designed study, IMO

This study does not appear to be very robust. Total subjects studied = 44.

Statistical analysis is meaningless with such a small study group. Seriously.

I am not convinced this study has any relevant findings.

Next!

Wait

Wait what? It was only based off of 44 subjects? With all the headlines I've been seeing around I would think it was a major study with multiple hundreds of subjects. This is the only way to form any type of a soewhat fair conclusion.

The vitamin story floating now was based on a mere survey

reported by a Dr. Ingram Olkin, known as, "The Father of Statistical Lies". He also was credited with creating the propaganda promoting the idea that smoking cigarettes was healthful.

These are credulity tests, floated to see what they can get presstitutes to say with straight faces, and then see if we as media pawns will make a desired shift away from the booming trend towards reasonable supplementation AND an organic food diet that they'd rather not have us follow.

Living in a retirement park.

Were the average age is 70+.The ones that stayed active. Drank moderately. Cooked their own good food. Have better memory than the ones who didn't drink. Ate processed foods, at home and restaurant's or didn't walk or exercise. Many have memory and other physical aliments. Been visiting there since the eighty's and lived there since 2000.My neighbor who is 93 has had a glass or two of wine everyday. Wins high bowling scores, first place in bridge games and is great at euchre in the park. Most people that come in the park now in there late fifty's and early sixty's have health issues mostly from eating processed foods. The shape of there bodies show it. That processed food chemicals stuff plugs up everything in your body including your brain. Trans fats, msg, aspartame ECT ECT I don't believe pot causes memory loss. My opinion. One would have to do a assessment of people in Jamaica who have smoked it for many many years. I also can contest while taking Lipitor I suffered STML. Short term memory loss. After taking it for one year. I couldn't remember my own phone number or my neighbors name. But my total cholesterol was 82. If you have a functioning brain don't take cholesterol drugs. Again my opinion. Good health and good eats

Living in a retirement town

I often observe the spectrum of impact that all health choices make on the young and old alike, but the older they are, the more insightful they are FOR the good, and NOT the poor, choices.

Even within families, where genetic predetermination might influence certain outcomes, the ones who kept certain health priorities more than others, always showed me obvious contrasts from those who cared less.

I know medical and recreational folks who take no more than necessary and/or socially comfortable from this plant. Respecting themselves, their families, and the general well-being of their neighbors, they often make prudent, self-governing choices that impose no harm, nor promote moral indiscretion.

I'm not convinced

What would convince me, is seeing senior citizens who had serious health promblems swear that juicing cannabis is what brought them back to radient health..

Young pretty girls are seductive, but I don't believe you are going to convince anyone in a care facility that juicing cannabis is going to make them look like her.

Cannabis has been decriminalized here for a decade.

Got a story for you.. I had a big Thankgiving about 8 years ago.. deep fried turkey and gumbo.. invited the state parks.. my parents and siblings came.. BIG party.

At one point I see my Mom talking to a guy I didn't know. I went over where they were to find them in a very deep conversation. He was a medical marijuana patient. He told my Mom why. She told him, "Honey, you don't need marijuana, you need a pace maker".

He was a good guy, didn't have insurance.. with marijuana he could afford his choice of "medicine" by selling it. The next thing I know, like a week after Thanksgiving, I get a call from this guy that I don't know.. he wanted to talk to my Mom who had returned home.

He was in the hospital and needed...a pace maker, which he got and he told me that my Mom was his hero because she saved his life.

I'm fortunate to live in a community with many healers, and some have medical degrees (not everyone with a medical degree is a healer). It seems that many who think of marijuana as THE CURE, wind up with very serious and complicated issues because the marijuana sustained the illness, it didn't eradicate it.

When medical marijuana first came out, it was for the relief of the terminally ill. Now I see all these reasons to imbibe for your health.. like Juicing (what a great way to get rid of the leaf, eh?)

Why isn't there some national movement for recreational marijuana? Most of the people I know who "self-medicate" (smoke cigaretts, drink alcohol, have diets of sugar, salt and fat, which seems to be what they crave).

When will the recreational marijuana smokers unite to make a stand for their right to just use marijuana to relax/ party.. whatever..

Why not be REAL, rather than try to sell medical marijuana?

What I love about "Leaf"

Granger, no one was touting it in, "Leaf", as, "THE Fountain of Youth", which you over-exaggerate, as usual, to humorously discount.

Within sound physical health boundaries, and even when challenged; raw juiced cannabis ought to be expected to do good with no psychoactive effects at all. When shown to be safe even with this small child that the medical community had given up on, no harm, and much good, ought to be expected among the elderly also who'd likely start with small amounts and work up, eh?

Your mother's pace-maker advice aside, this is clearly something that, within a reasonable scope of expectations, could only benefit, and not harm, anyone and everyone who would try it.

Consider mushroom supplements

and healthy eating and exercise for benefits to cholesterol
and blood sugar levels, immune system support and much else.

Paul Stamets and his company Fungi Perfecti (based near Olympia, Washington)
are the real deal when it comes to medicinal mushrooms:

What is the cholesterol levels of people who remember things.

Below 250 is dangerous, the brain can start de-myelinating.

Without the myelin insulation neurons short circuit.

I starting eating 4 soft boiled eggs a day. Without enough cholesterol, sunshine can't make vitamin D for you.

Can't make estrogen, testosterone and adrenalin for you.

One morning I woke up to find Woody already awake. He wasn't dead, just malnourished.

Age spots are rancid fat deposits. Selenium cleans up the mess and also helps prevent heart attacks.

True story.

Free includes debt-free!

Wonderful

I couldn't agree more with you on the cholesterol thing. I personally eat atleast 2 soft boiled eggs a day consistently in the winter months, seeing as less exposure to beneficial sunlight reduces amount of vitamin D taken in by our bodies during this time period.

I can't remember if I'm for it or against it

Cause vs Effect

Many schizophrenics find cannabis helps them calm and focus, hence many are self-medicating before they ever receive diagnosis. So was it the cause or effect?

Any of you that think this

Are obviously very simple minded people!!!

Lets start off from the beginning. Hemp was made illegal due to the cotton industry. Who at the time (1930's) was threatened by the fact that (1) acre of hemp could produce 400% more yield then (1) acre of Cotton.

The cotton industry like the oil companies today. Paid Millions to start a campaign that convinced the American public that MJ would make you loopy and crazy. Hence it was deemed illegal through propaganda.

Does MJ cause mental disorder's? If you think maturity level's being stunted and eating munchies is a disorder. Then yes. It does

Dont forget.

The logger Barron's. They helped too. Wish we could get back all those Jewels' they cut down for paper.

Money talks and dogs bark

not cotton

Cotton is dependent on petrol, it was the Nylon and man made materials from .......Dupont.

Hogwash - Nutritional deficiencies are confounding factors

Toxins levels can also can also confound.

schizophrenia is and imbalance of Calcium, Copper and Iron. High Calcium, High Copper and low Iron according to well documented literature.

Memory requires healthy blood flow to brain, a 2:1 ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 and a cholesterol levels above 250.

Heavy users were probably self-medicating for pre-existing conditions. The smoke contains plant derived minerals, 60 are proven essential.

Cannibinol is a normal brain substance.

"The study links the chronic use of marijuana to these concerning brain abnormalities"

This was not a gold standard experiment because nutritional disorders were not considered. And the samples size of 44 is not statistically significant.

Correlation does not prove causation, but suggests more investigations are in order.

For example, what if the whole group consumed a Healthy Start pak per 100# body weight for a year with measured amounts of nutrients. Then repeat the MRI scans.

The same program remedies autism, ALS, MS, and 5 types of dementias by assuring 100% nutrition. Nutrition is synergy of 90 essential nutrients.

The bottom line: When Maryjane goes from pleasure to obsession look for nutrition.

When the stash gets lower but you don't get higher ~George Carlin

Same with any additive: Alchohol, cigarettes, grains, yellow 5, blue lakes, vicodin, emberil. Pick your own addiction. Worked for me.

Feed the addiction what it's seeks, nutrition.

I report that it is simple in theory and simple to implement. Effective for livestock, zoo animals and pets.

Free includes debt-free!

I'm afraid I agree

With this, I think.

To my Liberal Trolls:
"Really Don't mind if you sit this one out. Your words but a whisper, your deafness a shout. I may make you feel, but I can't make you think."
Ian Anderson 1972

Size of DOSE matters....

taking too much can cause one to be a bit disoriented, paranoid, brain over-stimulated. But if one takes an amount in the optimal range, it creates well-being

every brain is different too

Some people have schizophrenogenic predispositions and they should probably never use THC or any halucinegenics. Some people probably have little effects.

Paranoid like you might think

Paranoid like you might think those in power are not your friend?

A paranoid man is a man that has all the facts at his disposal.

no, a sort of paranoid because the brain gets over stimulated

Specifically

Perhaps it's because "memorization" is NOT a form of Learning?

Perhaps people feel schizophrenic when they realize that it's the people around them that are actually insane in believing in this imposed illusion we call "civilized society"?

Been smoking for over 20 years, almost daily for the past 5, and I'm neither schizo or dumb. If anything, I owe MJ a lot of credit for helping me "see behind the curtain" of what's really going on. At the very least, it has allowed me to be more open minded and receptive to new ideas and ways of thinking and perceiving the world.

Well, I suppose it you find this current system "normal" then anything to the contrary seems out of place.

So thats what govt officials are blaming their job failures on?

Marijuana?

It's because smoking MJ makes people realize their jobs suck.
