It is all talk until you close the big bank account.

If you claim to love liberty continue to feed the beast by keeping your money in too big to fail bank accounts, you are no friend of liberty.

Time for a national movement to get out of the corrupt banks, try a credit union instead.

I have closed mine how about you? Or is it all just talk?

You should hear the 20 questions from the banksters that are none of their business.

I have a bank account with

$2.97 in it. Is that close enough to zero to satisfy you?

Where or where?

Son just earned a scholarship for Fall 14 and it's required to go directly into bank account which I don't want to do and used exclusively toward tuition/books assuming it's still there next year. Should I inquire about Credit Union or are there any other creative ideas I could ask about instead?

Even better...

Pay off your debt - cars and house - and refuse to keep giving our money away to the banks. This whole ponzi scheme would collapse if America lived within it's means. Unfortunately that's harder and harder to do these days with the fed propping up real estate, but it can be done.

So what would a world without using a bank look like?

I have always used a bank or credit union. Mostly for storing money and making payments via checks.

So there isn't much interest income from savings so not much reason to keep excess income in a bank.

But I'm not certain what my world would be like without the payment services provided by the when I use checks or electronic checks. And paychecks from work are direct deposited.

So what are the non-bank alternatives for direct deposit and a checking account?

Take your money out of the bank

This is number one on my list of things you can do, which I posted on my website here: http://corykennethpeterson.com/Take-Personal-Action.php

What do you think of this? www.theonlinemarket.org

thank you for the information.

since 2006.

However, all financial/fiscal agencies of the United States prop up the Federal Reserve system.

I am bank free!

Very satisfying

years ago, to close my account with Bank of America. Very happy with a credit union.

It's a bit of a stretch to

It's a bit of a stretch to say that those who use big banks are only "talk" when it comes to the liberty movement... We live in this world and have to deal with the realities. My landlord makes me deposit my rent money into his too big to fail bank every month... I don't have much of a choice... If you use Fiat currency, are you a sell out? When people buy something from you will you only accept gold coins??? (Sorry.. Couldn't help the sarcasm at the end)

Freedom is never convenient

There is always a choice, but it usually is a sacrifice. If I sell something then yes I demand silver. If i buy something i give the sucker what he wants. He wants fiat he can have fiat. I want metal.

I stopped using a bank years ago

The Federal Reserve System is all banks and none is less bad than any other. Cash checks at walmart or a liquor store and pay bills with a re-loadable visa card. A person would need millions and millions of dollars before storage becomes even a small issue. And other than a place to keep money, what good is a bank anyway?

I quit "banking" years ago.....

Like one of the other posters I had a bank rape me.

I had an acct set to auto-pay thru the bank. When I ended my subscription to the service I even notified the bank to stop future payments on the acct.

Thinking nothing of it, the following month I paid my bills, bought groceries and conducted my normal transactions....all by check.

The landslide began as the overdraft notices came in.

I went to the bank to find out what the deal was since I had deposited my check days before making those payments.

What I found out blew my mind, and my cool, and got me arrested.

It seems there was a $2 charge (in small print) for the service of ending an auto-pay transaction.... I had $1.97 in the bank at the time they decided to collect it. They attached an OD fee before another deposit was made and didn't notify me. This was on a 3 day cycle. Every 3 days they would again attach fees if there was no money, or not enough money, to cover the charges. This was before online banking was the norm, and snail mail came in a monthly cycle. So I would make deposits, pay bills, and continue to conduct my normal bill pay routine.

When I finally got the 1st notice in the mail it seems that I had accumulated approximately $600 in OD charges, so my deposit was swallowed up in fees for a $.03 OD, and I now had another whole month of checks written on that deposit that were also NOT going to be covered.

To make a long story short....

I had banked there for 3 years at the time.(I won't mention any names but their initials are WF.) The conversation started normally enough with me stating my surprise, explaining the situation and asking for consideration on the fees associated with this mistake, and a remedy to fix it. They told me that due to the "size" of the error they were unable to help me. I Lost my cool!

I told them to close my acct. They informed me that with a balance owing they were unable to do so. I began yelling so all in the bank could hear that $.03 was now costing me not only my entire check, but a mass of new charges that would accompany the checks for payments they had not received yet. They had me arrested

The last collection notice I received 3 years ago was for $2800 plus fees..... and I can only assume the acct is still open for I never paid to close it.....

over a $.03 OD on a hidden charge.

So nobody thinks me evil..... I did pay those to whom I had written the checks all monies owed eventually. They were willing to work with me, but the bank continues to attempt collection on monies they never had to pay. They did however rape me for around $1000 in deposits before this outcome

If you can read this thank a teacher. Because it's in English thank a soldier!

I did that 3 years ago

when I got married. I left BofA and my wife left Wells Fargo.
We use a local bank that only has branches in our immediate area.

I am old school and still make deposits and withdrawals in person.

"Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it."- Ron Paul

You know it makes no difference right?

The Federal Reserve System is ALL the banks. Big or small, friendly or evil, any bank or credit union is the same as any other.

It makes a difference

in the sense of I am not supporting the awful business practices of BofA and I was able to get more personal and helpful service and support the local businesses here.

I'm not an idiot I don't think that me taking my money out of an fdic bank causes them to go under.

"Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it."- Ron Paul

I'm motivated to testify

I knew I "should" take my money out of the regular bank but frankly, the Compass Banks in my town had THE BEST looking tellers.

Then I buy some crap on Amazon and shortly after some clowns in London go on a shopping spree with my debit card.

After years of loyal business and checking account activity and despite the fact that I alerted them of fraud within minutes, they tied up ALL MY FUNDS FOR ABOUT A WEEK which started this cascading nightmare of late fees and apologies to creditors that stings me to this day.

So about 5 years ago it was off to the credit union. The irony is I still have my visa debit cards and all the regular banking services and I'm under no illusion that this represents any sort of dramatic shift in where I store FRNs. But it's one of those little things we can do.

Arizona State Credit Union. No problems so far.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

I am There

I have three bank accounts. One has $5 in it, one has $39 in it and another has $.03 in it. The rest is in my pocket and other resources.

I'm out, but please note....

...most credit unions keep a master account at one of the big boys: JPMChase, Wells, BoA, etc.

So, while you are in a CU, the CU may deposit in one of them. Make sure to find out for yourself from your CU.

Please do not interpret this as being anti-CU. I'm 100% in CUs.

Get out of Bank of America, asap!!! Criminals, Big time.. Look..

Check out how messed up BofA is...

BofA decines ALL ammo/firearm purchases!!!

BofA trying to STEAL this man's LAND/Home, will NOT accept his CASH payments on his MORTGAGE!!!

Here is BofA getting BUSTED by Police for FRAUD for the same thing!!!...

it wont happen en-mass until something viable and totally unconnected to special interests comes along to keep the worries and risks at bay, and not everyone has the confidence to switch of the lights, until they have a second light source

I'll one-up you...

I pulled my money out of Wells Fargo about fifteen years ago, for a small community bank. And in the fallout of the great banker bailout and consolidation scam I swapped my mortgage from Citi, in favor of a small lender.

So in principle I feel good. However, as someone else noted it's all a shell game while the Fed controls its monopoly.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

Better than a credit union

Better than a credit union (incidentally credit unions are on the radar as future targets of USG)
