I'm not voting anymore

I have been a libertarian for about two years now. I was introduced to libertarian thought by Ron Paul's 2012 campaign. After that whole debacle, I began to consider who I would vote for in 2016 when the time came. Since the 2012 elections, however, I have been doing a lot of thought about my philosophy. I have really delved into libertarian ideas such as the non-aggression principle, and my outlook on voting has completely changed. I will no longer be voting.

I believe there can be no moral justification for government. If we accept that people should never use violence except in cases of self-defense, then we can no longer justify government. Government requires violence to exist. Taxation is theft, etc. If the system you support does NOT require violence, then it is not government. Government is by definition violent.

Can we move past the idea that reforming our government could somehow work, or is even the morally right thing to do? It's a delusion.

I think you could also make

I think you could also make the case for defense of other individuals who are being aggressed against.

"No physical quantity explains it's own existence, and no amount of time can consume an infinite series of events to bring you to the present, which means all of these somewhere have to be explained by one self-existent cause which is not physical."

agree 100%

we're not voting ourselves out of this mess.

The number of folks who have

The number of folks who have been shot, bombed, beaten, starved, and murdered in every imaginable way by governments is about a zillion fold compared to ordinary folks doing the same to each other. It is kind of like the "imagine a war and no one showed up" Showing up makes bastards seem legitimate.

Wasted Effort

Volumes are said when a person blindly justifies any government other than self government, and then claims that self-governance is a "fantasy".

good for you.

i will still vote since i love the entertainment just like going to a WWE show.

you find it entertaining when

you find it entertaining when a majority of the people in this nation go to the ballot boxes to select the individual who will rape them for the next four years?

"No physical quantity explains it's own existence, and no amount of time can consume an infinite series of events to bring you to the present, which means all of these somewhere have to be explained by one self-existent cause which is not physical."

yes i find it entertaining

i cant help it! i voted for the Libertarian party(i would of voted Ron Paul but he was not running). Hey the jokes on me right? obviously in free speech there is no right or wrong within ideologies, therefore if you don't vote someone else will. unfortunately this is a sad fact. this time around i will most likely be riding the Rand Paul wagon.

:)

Do you find it entertaining...

...that people who don't vote get raped just the same?

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

No I don't

No I don't

I respect your right.

Unfortunately, the only time people seem to become energized is during elections. Therefore, it is up to us to keep the spirit of freedom and Liberty alive, by reaching all of the people that we can.

It only takes one to create a spark, the more the better; it will take an entire generation to affect the change that we seek. Letting the opposition win so easily serves nobody's best interest, nor our Republic's.

Every person has a talent, it is up to each to find his/her own path.

Well said.

kind people rock

so why not use the election

so why not use the election time interest in politics to talk to people about how corrupt and violent the whole system is and how voting is a scam? I dont think I will vote anymore either. I mean why?

I increasingly think that the only way to win is to not play the game. No more violence. No more respect for violent systems.

I agree with you. That's why

I agree with you. That's why I'll be loudly advocating for Adam Kokesh when he runs for president in 2020 on the platform of dissolving the federal government.

let's do it!

This
