Universe In Danger of Popping Out of Existence

Physicists from the European Organization for Nuclear Research or CERN, for some reason, have issued an ominous warning to the governments of the world. Based on the conclusions of the best modern physics, an unseen danger lurks just beyond the bend of the horizon of our every day reality, which receives very little attention from our available stockpiles of fear.

While there is much talk in the media about the risks of global warming, near earth object collision and superbugs decimating humanity, no one talks about the more obvious danger: that the Universe should suddenly pop out of existence.

It is well known among scientists that at some point in the past, the Universe with all its physical laws and energy came into being from nothing, uncaused and without any preceding material or physical necessity. With such fundamentally unpredictable behavior, there is real risk that at any moment the universe could simply pop out of existence according to the very same metaphysical principles.

When this event happens, nothing will have ever happened. We will all be doomed, and not doomed. This event will disproportionately impact women and minorities, added CERN's lead physicist Joran van Sloot.

While we as observers may perceive time as something that 'happens' and takes a while, that may just be a subjective viewpoint, and at any moment the universe could abruptly cease to exist, taking with it the entire past -- thus causing every moment that ever existed to cease existing simultaneously, in the greatest of all imaginable cataclysms.

There are good grounds for expecting this to happen eventually, as a simple matter of statistics. In the infinite time horizon of the future, every eventuality must occur by logical necessity, including ultimately the random disappearance of all physical reality in an inversion of the event that kicked it all off.

When that happens, the event will reach back into time and destroy us all with as much suddenness and as much effect as the initial popping into existence. Everyone should be aware of this danger and take the proper precautions, and not underestimate the suddenness with which it may occur.

Everyone out there, stay safe.

I hate it when that happens.

you make this too easy:

proper precautions would you recommend Bill3?

if I cease to exist!

I think this essay is supposed to be funny.

Obviously, no scientist has actually made such an "ominous warning." Why this is in the Liberty Forum, I cannot say.

By comparison, google "Infinite improbability drive."

No, it is true

but it is not news. Google bubble nucleation event.

The idea is that the energy of free space in universe is not the actual lowest possible, ie a false vacuum.

A really terrific analogy (if I may say so myself) is that of markets. If the price of an asset class is artificially held up by, we call that a bubble, because it will pop. We free market people say don't create bubbles and then you won't have pops.

When markets are allowed to clear the energy of the system is stable because there is no where else to go.

Another analogy is asking the question, how do you design a tower made of glass that cannot ever fall?

We would say don't build tall glass towers.

In a real free market there is negligiblae encapsulated tension or energy to cause damage. All prices are as close to real as people can determine them to be, they will bake in predictions of things no single person could possibly know. Thus the odds of economic upheaval are reduced.

Of course one man's economic upheaval is another man being on the receiving end of a wealth transfer. Which is why everywhere prices are not allowed to seek their natural state.

The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer, and this is the purpose of all governments.

Fortunately the poor are usually ignorant being educated in government facilities, and so believe the government lies that they want to help the poor.

"It is well known among scientists [right; like it's well known among scientists that the earth is warming and it's Man's fault] that at some point in the past [brilliant assumption], the universe with all it's physical laws and energy came into being from nothing[total BS and mindless speculation: nothing comes from nothing - it's absurd to hypothesize that the universe arose from NOTHING], uncaused and without any preceding material or physical necessity [more total BS. "Uncaused"??!! That is simply an attempt to say, "Sorry folks, there ain't no God. How the hell do THEY know the universe is 'uncaused'?].

Don't worry folks; the Universe ain't gonna pop out of existence. This is the sort of irrational, childish nonsense that arises from a purely materialistic view of creation.

Is the universe in danger of popping out of existence

because evolution confirms for instance, the laws of gravity which spontaneously and randomly assembled, will evolve into something else?

Or is it because of something more like science asserts there is no such thing as perpetual energy and all motion must eventually stop?

Can you elaborate more on the "simple matter of statistics?" Also, can the reading audience get a prediction on when the big inversion event might occur? Finally, what kind of "precautions" do you suggest?

No, allow me to explain.The

No, allow me to explain.

The universe spontaneously popped into existence from nothing and for no reason. Everything that happened after that was just the necessary outcome of the initial random conditions following the laws of cause and effect through time, which produced the present world randomly and with no purpose.

The seemingly long duration of the universe inside the bubble of our perspective is only a matter of our perspective; from outside the bubble there is no such duration and time is only one of the spatiophysical properties that are at work inside the bubble.

Outside the bubble of our universe, wholly different laws hold, and if universes can randomly pop into being they can also randomly pop out of being; no law holds it in being. Our universe is just one accident in a sea of random, lawless, causeless events that we can't even begin to fathom (except for this essay and comments made by me).

Now, when the universe pops out of existence, it won't just take the 3 dimensional physical world with it, but the whole fourth dimension of all past time will also disappear. When this happens, every moment of time and every physical space that ever existed will melt away. This could potentially hurt, so prepare to brace yourself.

The way to know its happening is if you begin to feel lighter or if you start to fall apart or lose the physical coherence of your frame and organs. It will probably be like in back to the future when Marty Mcfly could see through his hand, but no Emmet Brown will come to your rescue. This may even happen long after you die, but it will feel like it is happening now, and at every other moment you ever lived, so be on your guard.

As for my claim that it is statistically inevitable, I just assumed that as a premise to make the mathematics work and to make my theory sound more sophisticated and plausible. You know, like all physicists are forced to do when trying to explain things they have no ability to explain (multiple universes, string theory, etc.), because they are outside physical reality, beyond physics and beyond observation, before the beginning, outside time, etc.

But given the spontaneous emergence of everything from nothing, I contend that the converse is equally likely to occur. And since the former did occur, making it was 100% likely, then it follows that the latter is equally likely to occur, 100%.

Having argued against

spontaneous random existence before I like the probability argument. I question whether the concept known as random exists or is even real. Every example of random devised by men I can think if is to produce a specific thing randomly not randomly produce anything. Since as you say, if spontaneous random existence is known it is 100% probable which implies it is utterly amazing things have held together for so long.

Yes, I plan to escape through

Yes, I plan to escape through a wormhole myself.

If you start to come apart

before you make it to the wormhole maybe this will help keep you and your ship intact long enough:

Be sure to keep plenty of it stashed in the space suit compartment on your ship. Might not be a bad idea to cover your entire body and space ship in a protective coating at all times just in case.

I'm wondering...

How long will it be before Obama blames Bush???

wait...I'm scratching my head.

I'm trying to figure how, if our universe blinks out of existence, how it disproportionately impacts women and minorities?

it's a numbers game

There are more women than men in the world... and there are more "minorities" than there are Caucasoids.

At their inceptions, the #Liberty, #OccupyWallStreet and #TeaParty movements all had the same basic goal... What happened?

Yeah but those minorities don't drive as nice cars as us gringo honkies.

I think this whole thread confuses me, I can't tell who's kiddin and who's serious! LOL!
